It can be a single book, a series or a trilogy. You can list more than one! It'd be good if you could post a little bit of information about it too.

My favourite is the Wheel of Time, which is a high fantasy series by Robert Jordan. It works on the classic good vs. evil situation, but goes very in depth. The characters and complexness of the world is amazing.

Now, I'm sure some of you have heard of this book:

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. The best book ever written, hands down. Ask anybody who is 40 or older and they could probably tell you about it.

Pick it up...now! twisted

I've never heard about it so I just wiki'd it.

It sounds interesting, in a good way!

Hm. . .books. Right now I'm re-reading Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. It's my favorite classic. The story is so complicated, the ways that everyone is connected to each other. At 1400+ pages, it's tough to get through but it's worth it. I'd recomend it to anyone.

Also, I love the Harry Potter series, but since most everyone knows about that, I'm not going to go into it.

I'm think I've heard of Catch-22, but I'm not sure. I'll have to check it out!

Les Mis isn't up my ally. I can't read books that big. Not a short attention span, but I just loose interest.

But I'm glad you'll look into Catch-22. You won't be disappointed, you can trust me on that.

My Uncle had an antique set of books that were full of short stories written in previous centuries by British writers. They were great stories. My favorite of the books was full of horror stories. Some of them gave me the willies, but I couldn't get enough. I kick myself now, for not asking about the books when his estate was settled.

Favourite books; Giles Milton is a fine author but I regret I do not read a lot.

Wow, that would of been heaven, all those old books!

Hmm, it's really hard to choose favorites, but among my top choices are Ralph Ellison's Invisible Man, John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath, Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, and Edgar Allan Poe's short stories.

I'd have to say my favorite fantasy would be JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit and LOTR.

As far as philosophy goes, I'd say the Republic of Plato, but some writings I read from Laozi were interesting too.

My favorite historical series would be.... probably The Three Musketeers and the Man in the Iron Mask. Dumas is one of my favorite historical authors, and The Count of Monte Cristo and The Forty-Five are also good.

I'm pretty lucky; fantasy is my favorite genre, and my wind ensemble conductor lets me loan books that he has already read, apparently he has a basement full of them. wink

If it's not too off topic, anyone care to share what they're reading now? I'm reading the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, and I'm currently on the third book of it.

Just make sure he doesn't try to take you down to that basement. xd

The Man in the Iron Mask, I want to read that.

I've heard a lot about that series, the Sword of Truth, and I'm gathering you like it?

At the moment I am reading Knife of Dreams, which is the eleventh book in the Wheel of Time series.

I wouldn't.

Man in the Iron Mask is good, if you have the patience, I like Dumas because he lets the plot build up, with lots of action and twists at the end. Make sure you've read The Three Musketeers first though.

The Sword of Truth has been good so far, and has quite an interesting hero.

I've heard a lot of people like The Wheel of Time, but for whatever reason, my mom got my dad one book of it for his birthday.

...The seventh book. sweatdrop

I can't say that I have a favourite book, but I certainly liked Les Miserables, The Count of Monte Cristo ir quite interesting too.

At this moment I'm reading Haruki Murakami's "Dance Dance Dance". It's an intriguing book, which makes me to rethink the fundamentals of this life.

I actually really enjoyed the Dan Brown books. [Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons..]

Also, I just began reading books by Matthew Reilly, because my dad picked up a huge box of western novels for me at a yardsale for like $1, and then this one non-western was in there.

It's called Ice Station. Basically, it's about how our own United States government planted men inside a Marine troop to 'erase' all evidence of this hovercraft that was found buried in the ice in Antarctica. And by erase.. let's just say the planted men aren't too friendly with the other Marines when they find the hovercraft. More info: Ice Station

I recommend giving it a read. Idk, I found it really interesting. I couldn't put it down. And it's the first in a series so I'm pretty excited.
