Mahewa himself'd had much the same idea when he'd left the immediate area of his family that morning. True, Bodaway would always deign to play with him, and with roughly ten siblings/cousins all his own age you'd think there'd be something to do...but today Hewa was tired of all that. And so without bothering to even tell anyone, he'd wondered off. of course he had no reason to think anything bad would happen. The last time he'd gone off alone he'd instead met a rather interesting creature, one he'd learned was called a 'wild dog'. He'd never seen anything but lions before that, and it had been simply fascinating for him. Maybe today he could find something else!

Distantly he recalled his mother saying they had to be careful, being so near a pride's home but he couldn't see why. Besides, prides meant lots of people! Assured he would find not only something to occupy his budding curiosity but a warm welcome too, he'd set off in the general direction the pride was supposed to be in.

Of course, being himself, that plan had lasted only so long as it'd taken him to find a little frog. It had moved so oddly when he'd pounced at it, he'd decided to try and mimic it. He was just getting the move down when he heard someone talking. "What's that?" He couldn't stop himself from springing into the air, and as he popped briefly above the tall grass he spotted a patch of white...another wild dog maybe? He hadn't seen clearly. Still, it was bigger than the frog...Smirking to himself he set to stalking the thing, despite having likely just been spotted. With a playful rawr, he leapt at the other lion, bouncing harmlessly off her side. "Ow!" He whined. No fair, he hadn't known she was bigger than him! "You gotta hard side!"

Hewa bobbed his head a few times. "Yeah huh you're hard. My little sisters are squishy compared to you...like frogs!" He wiggled a bit, obviously thinking that maybe a second attack would prove effective. But the bigger lion looked a little grumpy. Sometimes when he pounced Bodaway when he looked like that, he got sat on. Other cub or not, he didn't want to be sat on!

Aftera moment he noticed she was looking him over, and he straightened a little, puffing himself up to look bigger. She seemed confused...what, was he so different looking? Well...upon second thought, yeah he was. She was sleek and pure white from head to toe, and he was a dark, scruffy little thing. Oddly, he wished he'd taken his mother up on her offer for a bath that morning.

With a huff he started off, waddling a little circle around Kohaku, tail swishing playfully. This time he'd do the pounce thing right! As he got back around front of her, he smiled his brightest, most charming smile. "Hi!" He nearly yelled with excitement, a split second before he pounced. Talk about taking her advice!
