He'd escaped from his 'family' for a bit to stretch his legs. He loved the little ones but he had to have some self time. Being daddy was starting to get on his nerves and he didn't want to end up hurting the little ones somehow. So he'd taken it upon himself to do a bit of wandering about to see what sort of things he could distract himself with.

The open plains were perfectly suited to running that day and his legs blessed him for the chance to stretch muscles for once. Away from everyone and everything he could be himself for a bit.

Or at least as close to himself as he could be without company. He did much prefer to be in the company of others. He just preferred a lot of others to having to spend time with the same others every day.

Chapua was used to spending time by herself. After her previous mate left her for no apparent reason, the cheetah had decided that she was through with living in one spot, and she's travel to see what she could see before she got too old for it. Who cared what the past did to her? She just wanted to shed it off and keep her chin up.

The grey cheetah was humming to herself, bits of 'la la la' and 'dum dee dum' ws heard between her humming as she trotted across the savannah lands. Only when she saw a flash did she stop. "Hm?" Her red eyes followed the flash, to discover that it was a cheetah. And quite a brightly coloured one, as well. With a little stomp on the ground, she changed her direction towards the cheetah, hoping for at least a little bit of conversation.

He skidded to a hault after a bit and sat back panting. He hadn't run like that without it being for a hunt in a long time and he was out of shape. Not a good way to be when you were trying to keep yourself in top form. He'd have to get himself back into shape and quick.

He chirped at himself, chiding letting his perfect shape get lost, and shook himself out. His ears swivvled around when he heard something else moving though the grass.

Looking around he grinned as he spotted someone else coming toward him, someone female. Perfect!

"I must be loosing my touch. It's horrible of me to have not noticed company around." He grinned at the female as she got closer to him.

Her ear twitched, shaking away a fly as she approached him. She didn't care much about if he was in shape or not; as long as he could talk, that was what she cared about.

"Oh?" she teased with a laugh. "Well, you and me both, then, because I didn't see you until you had run right past me!" She let herself finish her song with a quick hum before nodding her head. "Well, comany is certainly perfect. I haven't had any for a while!"

She settled herself down to sit, making herself a bit comfortable. "You certainly run fast," she complimented. Chaupa didn't run too much, really. Only when she had to hunt, and even then she wasn't too fast.

"It's horribly rude not to notice a lady though. I should have seen you and given you a proper greeting." He grinned as he walked closer to her before sitting down. At least she seemed like she had a good head on her shoulders. That would be far better than the bubbly female he'd been spending most of his time with lately.

"I do try. Running always makes me feel better." It made the blood pump faster in his veins and gave him a rush like nothing else.

She laughed, throwing her head back a bit. "Well! Certainly something I'm not used to. So proper! I'm anything but, I apologize. I'm just passing though, really." She raised a paw up, resting it on her chest for a moment. "Name is Chapua. Irony, since I can't run fast anymore." She had lost her touch after her previous mate had left her.

"Can I catch your name?" she asked. "And do you know much about where we are right now, or did your run take you outside of your normal boundaries?" She didn't have a clue, but if he had any idea of what might be around, it'd give her a better direction of where to go rather than aimlessly wandering.

"Jicho, at your service." He tipped his head to her as he introduced himself. "All you have to do to run fast is let the wind carry your paws. Everything else just comes with it." He'd never bothered thinking about running fast, he just did it.

"I know enough to get by." He'd wandered around quite a bit before he'd half settled down. He knew the area well enough to know how to get back to where he was suppose to be or how to get further away from there. "Somewhere that you're looking for?"

"Jicho, then," she said, letting the name tickle her tongue before settling in her memory banks. She laughed and shook her head at his comment. She thought it was sweet to offer advice, but it would be a while before she could run fast again, she just knew it. One day she would. And when that day came she'd remember his advice.

"I'm not really looking for anything," she said, peering around shyly. "Just wondering where I am. I'm trying to see as much as I can before I get tired of wandering. It's been alright so far, but I think I'm lost!"

"Can't have you being lost now can we." He got up and stretched. "I can show you around if you'd like? I know the area well enough" And it was likely that they wouldn't run into his family either. It was never good to complicate things like that.

"Are you thirsty? There's a nice water hole near by if you are." The scenery around it was nice too. Good place to keep up a conversation with such a lovely lady.

Chapua's tail flopped behind her as she thought for a moment. Well, he would certainly help out. She mainly just needed to know where she was, if there were any large landmarks to look out for, and what was where. She knew that there was a large lake somewhere out here, but didn't really think she was near it. But knowing which direction it lay would tell her if she was going north or south. Hmm.

"A drink sounds great!" Well, that certainly would distract her for a bit. "You lead the way and I'll gladly follow. I'm sure you're probably thirsty after your run, too," she said with a grin.

"This way my lady." He made sure she was following him before he headed off toward the small pond. This time of day there shouldn't be too many others about so hopefully they wouldn't have to chase anything larger off or wait for larger things to leave.

Pausing slightly so she could catch up to him he turned his head to watch her for a moment. "Have you been traveling long?" She seemed like she was far away from where ever she knew.

Chapua stuck close to her guide, peeking around in every direction when she could to pick up landmarks. You never knew if you needed to remember these things in the future. Chapua might end up finding herself lost again in this area, and knowing where water was would be essential.

"Oh? Well," she started, trotting up to catch up. "For so long I don't remember where I started," she said with a laugh. "Though it doesn't bother me, I never indeded to return home." Too many memories there that would be better left alone. "Have you lived here your whole life?" she asked, curious.

"Certainly not." He laughed at her question. "My paws carry me where ever i need to go and so far it's been a long way from home." He still knew where he'd come from he just hadn't felt any reason to go back. It wasn't as if his parents were still there.

"I just ... paused here for a bit to take in the local flavors." He smirked as they continued to walk. No reason to tell her that he had cubs trouncing about somewhere around and a lady friend.

Chapua nodded her head in understanding. "It'll soon be the same with me, I'm sure. It's such a warm feeling in my heart to see everything, though. At least I don't have anyone pinning me down, keeping me from what I want to do! It's so amazing, almost like I could fly." She let herself fall silent for a moment, a bit embarassed, but trying not to show it.

She wasn't completely sure what he had meant about 'flavors'. Were there different preybeasts then where he was from? That would make sense, really, but some times Chapua was a bit too naive for her own good. "Well, at least there are good things around here, then, if you've been sticking around for a bit!"

It was a good thing that she didn't know how 'pinned' down he really was. He didn't really regret it, he loved his children, but some times he just wanted to pick up and run off again. There was so much out there he hadn't seen and so many things he hadn't tasted, prey and company alike.

"I never stick around anywhere if there's not at least a few interesting things around." He smirked at her for a moment before he stopped at the edge of the cleared space around the waterhole. It was never a bad idea to be careful. You never knew when something bigger than you might be around.
