I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but a friend of mine mentioned this to me.

Ionian Sergeant Anise Tatlin.
Dorian General Van Grants.
Locrian Sergeant Tear Grants.

Ionian, Dorian, and Locrian are all modes used in scales. The mode defines which degree of a scale you start on (degrees mean the note), and you adjust to play the scale.

Ionian is first degree, Dorian is second degree, and Locrian is seventh degree.

Thought it was interesting...

Mey.

OMG And I just realized... there are SEVEN different types of fonons, and SEVEN modes! Wow... I didn't know that... seems Abyss draws a lot on music...

Hmm... That would make sense that Anise can do Shadow fonic artes & Tear is a 7th fonist... Since Dorian is the 2nd degree & Gnome is the 2nd fonon... It doesn't make sense on him... Or it just got nothing to do with Van...

I've noticed that music is a big thing that plays in the game.

For example, a Maestro is like a conductor. Also, if you look at Tears costume, there are lines that go down the front in the center, they remind me of the lines for musical notes.

Plus, there are a lot of tuning forks in the game. Ion wears one as a necklace and there are several times that you have to hit one in the sephiroth.

Fonons are also basic particles of sound that let out vibrations just like sound does.

My friend had to explain that last part too me after I explained what I'd learned; I honestly don't normally notice these things.

Now one of my friends pointed something out to me; that the Fonic Hymns were based off scales. I'm not too sure about that, but it may be a possibility.

My friend mike also explained the degree part to me. Though I didn't know that there were 7... -_-'

I haven't posted in the guild for a while. Anyway, that's quite a cool fact. I knew ToA contained a lot about music, but I never noticed that part about Ionian, Dorian, etc. Heck, I had no idea those titles had any relation to music!
