When you look at the news today you see all the things the USA does at home and abroad. My question to you is: Are America's actions those of a country doing that right thing for the world, or those of a tyrannical imperialist nation? Or does the truth lie somewhere in between?

Evil, you don't see anything important on the news anymore in America it is all controlled by corporations who show what they want to show, like there has been basically no coverage on the US occupation of Iraq on mainstream news and since they've started that the approval ratting of the war has gone up. so you cant trust the news, especially mainstream news. America, and the majority of Americans only care about whats best for them no mater what their slight convenience might be they only care if it helps them and they don't care one bit about the starving children in other countries that corporations are stealing from and keeping oppressed.

Americans are not saints, but they're not evil either. America falls somewhere in the middle of this spectrum. Sure, America's culture has turned into this materialistic/capitalistic monstrosity, but who in the world donates so much money, time, medicine, food, and services to lesser countries around the world? And by lesser, I obviously mean third-world countries.
We're pretty damn selfish, but we're extremely charitable.

What a obscured view of The good ol' U.S. of A!!! Everyone fails to realize that even though alot of what happens on the news is reporting bad things, and it's not all that goes on. Also the USA is THE world superpower, every country in the world is keeping tabs on us, and i dont blame them. In conclusion, Of course there are some bad things, but there are good things, and other countrys have the same problems with their governments, but since alot of them arent as watched as the US, they arent noticed as much as us.

How about this; Americans are Human. Humans are flawed, i.e. they have their own opinions Plain and Simple.

I don't mean that its bad news that they report, I mean they don't show certain things. They don't report on any of the guerrilla warfare in Africa, they basically don't report on anything that America is involved in, unless the thing that America is involved in looks bad, like our occupation of Haiti, nobody really knows about that but its happening, and the news wont cover it. Also the news wont cover protests, well it will cover 1 or 2 big ones that people are bound to hear about, but thats only if protesters went violent or something, which is rare. But they don't cover protests, if they still did like back in Vietnam days then the population could see the pigs oppressing the protesters, and they can actually see how many people oppose or are for what ever the protest is about. It's simple the mainstream news is all owned by private companies that report what ever the hell they want, and what they choose to report was chosen to make America look good, or to make themselves look good.

For example, have you heard anything about bombings happening in India? Well if you go to the BBC news website its on the front page, and its a pretty big thing. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7399823.stm

So What you are saying s that America is evil because the press (which is not a government controlled entity) doesn't cover stuff that the population wouldn't care about?
