We Hawaiians are awesome... Like really, we are. I have proof. Have you heard of Captain Cook? If you haven't he was a British explorer that "found" The Hawaiian islands. Anyways, there is this spot where he had a huge battle with the Hawaiians, and they killed him there. At that place there is a plaque, pretty much talking about how Captain Cook "founded the Hawaiian islands. To make a long story short, some native Hawaiian went to the plaque, and scratched out the phrase about him "founding the Hawaiian islands." twisted

Wow... um... o_O I think they must have got into big trouble for doing that... I think that is... destruction of public property or something... Well... I think it would have worked better if they submit a petition and just make them take down the plaque once and for all ^^

And he didn't founded the islands. the hawaiians were here already. WE found it first not HIM.

That is not in any way the true reason that the Hawaiians were so "awesome". The reason that they were "awesome" was that their ideals and mentality were so advanced for their time that they could actually live on an island like that separated from any large land mass and live. They knew how to take and give back in exactly the right way and they had such advanced navigational and fishing skills it was insane. And their idea of universal balance that one cannot exist without the other is truly fascinating. And the Hawaiians were also the first to think of the theory of evolution and not only that they could express this theory through poetry and religion. And they understood the importance of freedom of expression. That's why you had more than one cosmology for the Hawaiian religion. It's because they understood that, in my professor's words, "You have your interpretation, I have my interpretation, right on. We're cool. Unlike the Europeans who had the idea that you gotta think like me or I kill you." That's why when the European missionaries came most if not all the Hawaiians were forced to believe in Christianity. But in reality when it came to mentality and morals, the Hawaiians were the ones who really had it.
