Under Construction Welcome, welcome to The Journal of The Poet; she who wanders far and wide seeking knowledge and friends. Upon reaching the Cein Isles, Poet was immediately charmed by the wonderufl creatures there known as 'Taurs. They are: Centaurs, Cervitaurs, Wolftaurs, Foxtaurs, and Cattaurs. Of them Poet has been most enchanted by the Cattaurs and Foxtaurs, but has yet to come close enough to actually speak to any of these beautiful creatures.
Her travels, innitially, were limited. Things often called her away from the Isles for long periods at a time, and as such her requests to be Guardian for a young 'taur child had often been denied and those of the clans were unsure if she would dedicate herself wholely to the child. She did not give up though.
Time went on. The Poet began to wonder if she would simply need to resign herself to observing the comings and goings of these tribes. On a cloudy morning she awoke to a rather loud 'thunk' on her boat (as she traveled much, she had not made an official residence on the Isles). She came up-deck on the single-person boat and found a rather flushed centaur woman about to ram the boat again.
"I am here, please don't!" Shouted Poet. The woman looked up at her and Poet could see that she was quite nervous, no doubt from coming into human lands. It was as Poet climbed to shore that she noticed a young female centaur with the woman. A blue and purple child who would not meet Poet's eyes.
Without delay the woman spoke. "I have come to bring what you have asked for. The child Azure has no guardian now as Gideon," and she spat the name as though it were a bitter root, "will no longer be watching over her. She is yours to guard, and a caution you look after her closely." The woman shuddered, as though immagining staying a moment longer than necessary, before running off.
Poet knelt beside the young girl Azure. Her face was a little storm cloud of unhappieness. She opened her arms and spoke soothingly, wondering who Gideon was and why this centaur woman had been so quick to get rid of Azure. "There, there Azure," she said and was surprised by the girl's quick reaction. As though she'd never heard a loving voice in her life, the young centaur began to cry, she reached for Poet, and clung to her for some time. Untill the tears stopped flowing.Things you will eventaully see in this thread:
o1: Other creatures owned by Poet which interact with Azure (as well as one pet Poet gave to Azure).
o2: Finished history on Azure and a bit of personality.
o3: A post for those in the Isle that Azure has met or interacted with.
o4: Any other 'taur pets that decide to travel with Poet.
o5: Information about Poet's boat.
o6: On the second page I will have a list of those who would like to go on Pet's boat. We can RP the boat ride in this thread.

Under ConstructionChild Azure Prize from 8/27 Contest
Entry: Breathless, a small centaur stumbled and then hastily folded her legs beneath her and shook leaves from her hair. There were darkened streaks on her face, the remnants of tears cried over Gideon''s fate. Well, it was less his fate that moved Azure to tears and more the fact that now she''d never see him again! He was going to take her hunting, he was going to let her use his old bow! Now what was she to do?
"Stupid! Stupid Gideon! Stupid humans!" Why''d they have to mess things up? Gideon would never do anything to hurt anyone, so why'd the stupid humans have to get involved!? Azure whiped her face, the skin of it was hot from too many tears and too much anger. She then stuck her hand into the dirt and made little fists of the dark brown substance. Her anger turned again to tears which soon led to hic-ups. She sat there feeling lonely, abandoned, and angry; crying and hic-uping until the shadows stretched deeper across the place alongside the canyon where she had finally stopped running. Her tribe would be looking for her soon, but she didn''t care.
She raised her head, tiny eyebrows bent at a sharp angle, her child-voice cracked as she shouted at the treetops. "I hate you Gideon!"
Name: Azure Age: Teen Gender: Female Guardian: ChibiPoet (Poet)
History: Unknown to Azure, her parents (Aiwin and Renyd) had lived most of their lives on the Isle of Exiles. When Aiwin conceived she felt very strongly that her child would not be born an Exile. So she made the daring swim back to Meith Foraois when she was a month away from full term. A small band of centaur hunters were out that night, one in particular found her, knew her for what she was, but had pity on her. His name was Gideon. He did not reveal her to the other hunters and helped keep her hidden until she could bear her child. Aiwen did not survive the knight and Gideon carried her body to the sea to be washed away. He then took the child Azure to the centaur tribes, saying he had found her and did not know what had become of the mother. She was raised to a child and then given to Gideon's care, all the while the tribes were still quite suspicious of her origins.
As she grew, Azure began to be curious about why Gideon took care of her. Where was her mother? Her father? Did they love her? Gideon did not tell her where her parents came from, he hoped to do that when she was older. He did eventually tell her that her mother had died, but left out that it had been a long and painful death. He took her to the place where he had put her into the sea. This shoreline is particularly known for the small star-shaped flowers that are very near Azure's color (they're a bit more blue than she is). The young child Azure gathered up a handful of these flowers and put them into the sea, sending them to meet her mother.
Gideon took to helping other such mothers, and since he did not want the tribes suspecting him he saught out humans who wished to be guardian to a young 'taur and gave the child to them. It wasn't long before he was caught and quickly exiled. Things were explained to Azure, but poorly and she still does not quite understand why Gideon had to leave. more to come later
Personality: Azure is often confusing to her peers and gets along much better with young children. When she is alone for too long she begins to think about her mother and about Gideon and can become quite dpressed. more to come...
Recent Story: Gentile waves lapped at the sandy shore as Azure stepped slowly through the semi-hard sand. Just above the tide-line grass grew in scattered spots and a star-shaped blue flower blossomed for most of the year. In her hand a flower matching those was quite smushed, nearly beyond recognition. When she'd looked at it earlier she regretted squeezing it so hard. And she wondered... she wondered what Chane thought of her now...
Between one meeting and the next they'd both had time to grow up. Azure was still quite interested in the cast which was not a cast. Chane had been about to leave and had been showing her his flower collection when she'd seen the flower not crushed in her hand. That blue-star flower which meant both happieness and pain to her. I'll bet he thinks me foolish. She had run off. Run with her eyes clouded with tears and her mind torn by the thoughts of the mother she never met and of Gideon. She ran until the sun had dipped below the horizon, ran until the stars came out to shine down on her, ran until she couldn't run anymore.
When she had stopped she realized her direction was taking her near the shore. Near the very shore this flower had come from. She rested for the night before continueing on until she came to this place, this day.
Now as she walked along the shore she remembered happier times. She and Gideon would come here often. She would sit in the sand and tell her mother about her day. What she had learned, what she and Gideon had done, the games they'd play. She hadn't felt the least bit odd coming here to speak to someone she could not see, Gideon had told her that in death all 'taurs are reborn into the earth. No matter where you go, you can still speak to them. Azure had prefered coming to the shore, it was the last place her mother had been and she was sure she'd hear her too someday.
Azure paused, looking out to the sea she also began to recall the not-so-happy times. A centaur warrior coming for Gideon, taking him away and roughly pushing Azure aside when she tried to stop him. The warrior-guard spat foul words about Gideon, Azure only catching "human". At that time and to this day, she still feels a bit in the dark about what really happened. She didn't want to ask, Gideon had left. Had broken his promice. She did not want to know what evil he had commited with the humans. It would only make her hate him more.
She took a few steps out, letting the waves brush her hooves. Glancing down at the flower, she watched it as she let it drop into the waves. It took a few swells for the flower to finally catch and be carried outward. The water that touched it took a deeper blue hue for a moment before the flower sunk and was gone from sight.
"I'm sorry I haven't been to talk with you in a while, Mother," Azure said softly, barely a whisper. "I've missed you... and thought about you." She felt... strange. It had been too long since she'd spoken here. Almost too long, what if her mother was no longer listening? And her mind suddenly went to Chane. All of a sudden her mind and heart were at ease and she began to talk more freely. "It's been a while since I saw Poet, you remember her I hope. She came with me the last time I was here." That felt so long ago. "I've been getting to know some of the other 'tuars which makes her happy. There's one, Chane, who was attacked by Stalkers. He wouldn't have survived if it wasn't for his Guardian, Cyn." She smiled, "I like talking with Chane, or just seeing him." It was true, perhaps it was simply his leg that made her so curious about him. She couldn't know for sure.
Before she could say anything else, there was a rustle in the bushes and undergrowth further down the shore near a rocky outcropping. A water-cave was down that way. "Azure?" came a whispered voice.
Azure gasped, and for a moment thought perhaps her mother was responding to her. "Mother?"
"Azure!" But the voice was male. She flushed slightly for being so nieve and looked around. There was a wolftaur she once knew. Black with red, orange, and yellow stripped markings, deep red skin and cropped streaked hair. He was just barely visable actually, crouched low and hiding, he beconed to her again. "Azure, c'mon!"
She hesitated a moment. Why did he look familiar? Who was he? She took a step back, and remembered. Malviya. A friend of Gideon's. One of the many who had disappeared shortly after Gideon had been exiled. Some were found and exiled as well. Malviya was one of the few that no one had ever heard from again. So why should she trust him?
He backed into the shadows a bit, "Azure.." he said, this time more softly, pleading, his black eyes speckled with gold looked honest and carried the same plea as his voice. Looking around, as though worried she might be seen, Azure then cantered quickly to the brush and into the shadows, following Malviya. "I have something to show you," was all he said when he looked at her face, questions barely on her lips. So she was quiet, nodded, and followed.
She followed him toward the water-cave. When he came to the brush's edge, he looked nervous. He'd clearly been in hiding and now was reluctant to show himself even for the breifest momsnt of getting from the brush, around the rocks, to the cave. After a moment's hesitation he rushed out, over the wet sand and around the rocks, out of Azure's sight. The feeling of secrecy was catching as Azure too hesitated before speeding through as fast as caution would allow her.
It wasn't a very large cave, it had a low ceiling but stretched back to the very edge of the light. While Azure stood at the cave opening, Malviya was already at the very back and she could hear something dragging through the wet sand. This had been Gideon's friend, she remembered again. Her heart froze, what if she was about to learn the secret of Gideon's exile? Did she want to know. She backed up a few steps, feeling frantic and suddenly very claustrophobic. She looked around wildly, even though the cave opening was directly behind her, she still somehow felt trapped. She didn't even notice that Malviya was now back in the light.
"Hey, hey Azure, it's OK. It's alright." He stopped dragging what looked to be a very small and shallow raft. He came up to her and put his hands on her shoulders, startling her. "Don't worry. I'm not going to harm you..." He smiled, he looked worn and tired. Not as old as Gideon had been, he certainly was older than she remembered. He sat down in the shallow water. "Let me tell you something," he said, gesturing for her to sit as well.
She sat in the water, it was cold but she didn't mind it. "I've been waiting for you, Azure. We've all been taking turns. Myself, Unra, Kvellin, and Fox Rain." All old friends of Gideon, all mysteriously vanishing... except Unra. She had been caught and exiled. How had she returned!? "You might not like to hear this... but Gideon... he died. About a moon ago." His words hit Azure like a hammer blow. She didn't want to care, he'd abandoned her! She didn't want to care, but could feel her heart freeze. Could feel her face heat up and her eyes water. "Oh Azure," he said as he placed a comforting hand on hers. "He thought of you, even to the last breath. Since then we've been waiting. He said you would come here. So here we've waited."
Azure didn't understand. Why were they waiting for her? How did Malviya even know Gideon had died? He was on the Isle of Exiles! No one knew what happened there! "I know it's hard to take Azure, but there's something here Gideon wanted you to have." Azure watched as Malviya got up and pulled the small raft closer. It finally reached water deep enough - about four inches - so that his task was easier and the raft drifted to Azure. "He wanted you to have it," Malviya repeated.
The tears finally came as she looked inside the raft. Your promice Gideon... His bow and quiver were there. She was almost afraid to touch them, this was the surest sign she could have gotten that Gideon was indeed dead. He would not have parted with these otherwise.
Some splashing broke Azure's gaze of the gift and she began to get up as a shadow fell over her.
"So she fine'ly came, eh Malviya?" Azure twisted her torso to gaze up at Urna. Urna was a large centaur, especially for a woman. She had to crouch to even step into the cave, the entrance was the highest point of all. Her hide was riddled with scars, and a blood-soaked cloth was wrapped about her shoulder and side. She gave Azure a frightening grin as she brought her face closer to the young 'taurs. "I doubt she ken even use tha thing," she said, her breath making Azure turn away and sneeze. This only made Urna laugh.
"You haven't been careful Urna. You're bleeding again." Malviya came and stood beside the brown and red centaur woman. The bandages were visably moist.
"Well they thought they'd gotten rid o'me. Ha! No man has ever brought me down!" she boasted.
Unsure what they were talking about, and a bit afraid, Azure leaned over the boat and gathered up Gideon's things. She held the bow close, it was large, perhaps too large for Azure to use. She didn't care. The wood was strong, even in this damp cave it had retained its shape and flexibility. It had been sealed against water and heat. The edges were decorated in strange winding patterns, the very same the Gideon had tatood on his arms in henna.
The quiver was more ornate, a gift to him Gideon had once told her. It was a side quiver, one that you'd bind to your waist. The strap was black leather with polished stones placed in a mosaic pattern along the middle. The holder itself was likewise black with circular mosaics of stone and bead sewn into it. A red tassle hung from the bottom. There was only one arrow. The arrow. The one which was purely ornamental. Gideon made his own arrows, but it seemed he either meant for Azure to make her own or hadn't time to make any for her. The arrow, a dark wood with red feathers, was a gift along with the quiver. He had used all but one arrow, saving it and keeping it safe.
Azure glanced up and felt her stomach turn. Malviya had taken Urna's dressings off and was examining her wound. Azure didn't know what sort of weapon could make such a wound. The flesh had flopped away from Urna's shoulder and hung limp. Malviya was cleaning it and Azure noticed that an odd scent had been filling the cave. A bit of bone showed through the blood and made Azure shiver.
"Pretty, ain't it," Urna said gruffly. The wound continued to her side, a deep slice that bled fresh every time Urna moved.
"Don't speak, Urna," Malviya said sternly.
Azure got up, holding the bow and quiver close to herself. Whatever had happened, she didn't want to know. Urna was an exile, she should be on the Isle of Exiles! What was she doing here? What if they were found, would Azure be exiled to just for being here!?
"I have to go," Azure said, her eyes starting to look wild. "I have to go now!" But Urna and Malviya were at the cave's entrance. There was no way to get around them without upsetting the delicate work of redressing Urna's wounds. "I have to go now!" She said again, her voice getting frantic.
"Do not worry, Azure," Malviya said, keeping the irritation from his voice. "You will not be found here. When Urna has healed she will be returning to her Exile. She only waited to make certain you got Gideon's gift." He said this more to Urna than to Azure, as though perhaps the centaur woman had been considering staying here.
Azure's tail twitched, her hands gripped hold on the vbow and quiver tighter. "I have to leave," she said in a small voice. But she could not leave, not with Urna and Malviya in the way. She watched, feeling a bit sick as she did, while Malviya repaired Urna as best he could and began to redress the wounds. Urna kept watching Azure with an odd glint in her eye. Yes, one eye. A scar went across the brow of the other eye and the pupil was clouded.
Malviya finally backed away from Urna. "There. You'd better stay here a while or it'll all open up again." He turned and looked at Azure. "Is Urna right? Have you not yet learned the bow?" Azure could only nod, she dare not speak. Would they take these from her because she could not ues them? "Fox Rain should be able to show you, she's not due here until tomorrow though. Could you come back then?" Azure nodded again, still worried they'd take this gift from her if she refused. "Then I will tell her to wait here when she comes." He stepped aside. "You can go Azure," bt as she passed him he grabbed her arm. "You can tell no one we are here. And... if there is anything you want to know... well, Fox Rain could probably answer your questions best."
Azure nodded and pulled free of Malviya's grip. She then took off through the shallow water and came back to the sand. She continued to speed along the shore, deciding at one point to head into the grass, the flowered area which gave way to hills and eventaully trees. Would she come back tomorrow? She wasn't certain. "If there is anything you want to know..."

Under Construction Azure's Pet: Kristal is a fairy made entirely of, you guessed it, crystal. She cannot move her wings, but her inate fairy power lets her hover a ways while little sparkles of fairy dust fall from her body. She has a telepathic link with Azure.
About Kristal: In her travels, Poet discovered a land of small fairies. She was able to capture a fairy-mote, the speck of dust a fairy is before they are actually a fairy. She happened to have Azure with her and showed the young centaur. Azure reached forward and touched the mote just as it began to glow and become a fairy. It happened to be a rather rare fairy, the crystal fairy. Because of her close proximity to the mote when it transformed, Kristal can speak mentally with Azure.

Under Construction Those Azure has met in alphabetical order:
Chane: Azure is quite curious about Chane's leg, knowing it provides the function of a cast without really being one... She has a flower chane he made as a child, it has deteriorated quite a bit and the last parts she made into a bracelet.
Cheveyo: Cheveyo is the first cervitaur Azure saw and was quite interested in his horns. She thinks he's too skittish though.
Kellyn: A cervitaur Azure considers a friend, even though they are vastly different ages and she hasn't seen the young girl for a while.
Poppy: Azure doesn't know much about Poppy because the one time they met all the 'taur did was sleep.
Riome: Azure thinks Riome is very nice, if a bit odd. She doesn't remember this anymore, but she was confused as to how a cervitaur could be Riome's brother.
Tempest: Azure doesn't know what to think of Tempest. They haven't spoken much.
