Krinn groaned for about the millionth time that day and lolled over on his side. Lan was beside him, worriedly flipping through a guidebook for health and what not. Krinn was sort of blowing the pain out of proportion, it really only hurt a little. He had been having odd aches in his back and stomach for the last day now, and Lan had taken notice of it rather quickly. With a groan, he had started to look for a cure and what it actually was. Krinn had protested against Lan thinking of asking a doctor. Truth was, it was because of what he had heard the other day. Pouting as he thought of it, Krinn moaned again as it blasted on his side irritably. Then he sat up and rubbed his stomach with a frown.
It might be the gods punishing you. Have you been up to something bad Krinn? He had been waiting with Lan at the cafe while he worked, and one of his fellow workers had told him about it after seeing him twist his face up unhappily at the small pain in his side. Rolling around again, Krinn looked up as Lan slapped his book closed. Looking over, Lan cocked an eyebrow. "Krinn, have you been eating anything odd lately?" He asked with a frown, patting the boys head as he rolled around, almost off of the couch. Krinn shook his head, curling into a ball and pouting once more from the other side of the couch. It needed to stop hurting before he got irritated. Even thoguh he already was. But if it continued without getting better then he was sure to get snappy and not be able to sleep. And sleep always made his day better when it was down. Lan frowned again because now Krinn was acting odd as he thought about what the girl had said and wondered if he really had done something wrong to get punished. Was he bad? "Hey is something the matter?" Lan asked, poking Krinn in the forehead and making him swat at the others hand angrily. "No, other then my bodies in pain!" Krinn was too embarassed to actually tell Lan that he was starting to believe what someone had said to him.
He knew how Lan would react to that. Dont listen to them, he'd say. Or something. Lan never liked listening to others, and even though he hadnt been living with his guardian for long he still knew that for a fact. Of course, Krinn was kind of opposite. He sometimes believed too easily and let his mind carry him away. Just like that. Krinn sighed and rolled over, watching Lan as he chewed his lip in thought and then stood up abruptly, making Krinn and Sona jump.
"Krinn, I'm gonna go out and ask a doctor before anything else happens to you. Stay here and rest up so you dont get hurt anymore then usual." Krinn eyed Lan suspiciously. "Bring me back icecream!" He said as Lan closed the door. Puffing his cheeks when there was no response from the other side of the door, Krinn rolled over on the couch, watching Sona's flicking tail. The cat had been eyeing him all day, watching as he rolled in slight pain that he made himself believe was worse then it actually was. He hadnt done anything bad enough for the gods to punish him had he? Krinn faultered at the thought of it. He had only gone exploring with Sable. Was that really so bad?
As his stomach moaned in pain so did he and Krinn sat up, putting his hands on his lap and brushing back his hair irritably. His mood fell to the ground whenever he had something like this happen to him, or he got hurt or was yelled at. And this was no exception. Lan needed to get back soon....
After two hours of groaning, playing cards with himself, and making Sona follow him around while he panicked over the fact that the gods were supposedly punishing him, and wondering if Lan would get back anytime soon. then he perked up as Lan barged into the door with a bag in hand, muttering something about Dasity and being a jerk. Looking up, Krinn glanced over at Lan and wondered what was wrong with him. He also pondered what the bag was and what was in it before Lan started to speak. "Krinn, how do you sleep at night?" He asked bluntily, making Krinn make a face that said "what does that have to do with anything?" before putting his hands on his hips. "Why is that of importance at all?" He mumbled, looking at Lan with a pout as a partial pain drifted through his stomach and ached.
"Krinn!"
"I've been sleeping fine!" Krinn answered moodily, making an open face at Lan for the silly question. He wanted to know if it really was the god and goddesses punishing him or if it was something curable by way of Lan, the guy who never gave up. Lans face faultered. He was waiting for next week when his paycheck would come in so that he could get Krinn another bed that wasnt an old one of Dasitys. Lan sighed and walked up the stairs, Krinn trailing behind in confusion as his stomach continued to ache. Flopping onto the bed in the room they had converted into Krinns room over the past two days, Lan yelped and hopped back up. The matress was as stiff as a rock and yet the first time Krinn had tried it out, he had told Lan it felt fine to him and Lan had taken his word for it. Now he knew why Krinn was in so much pain. He was sleeping on the ground literally, or something worse with that matress.
"Krinn this bed is a rock!" Lan said with exsasperation. Krinn frowned and shook his head. "No its not, its fine." He said stubbornly, not admitting he didnt want to waste more of Lans money then he already did. The bed was fine for sleeping...but not the best. But he wouldnt say that because he was stubborn...and in being stubborn well.....that was just Krinn. Lan frowned. "Krinn, the reason you're getting aches in your back and stomach is because you're sleeping on this thing! Trust me, I've slept and gotten pain from it as well." The young adult then sighed and pulled something small out of the bag. "These are some herbs for the aches. I'm going out to buy you a new matress tomorrow," Lan put his hands on his hips defiantly as Krinn tried to interrupt. "Whether you like it or not, and you are going to sleep in my bed tonight. I'll use the couch." Krinn started to protest but Lan intervened. "You dont need to cause your back more pain. And..." Lan snorted and laughed. "You get really moody when you're in pain."
Krinn growled and made a face at Lan but the older was already starting out the door and Krinn followed him with a sigh. He rolled his eyes childishly but in all truth he was glad that Lan was his guardian. The man was caring....even if he didnt really know he was showing it. And of course, there were a couple of arguements here and there but hey, life wouldnt be complete without them would they?
Later on that night, Krinn snuggled into the soft warmth of his guardians bed, watching Lan walk out of his bathroom and to the door, turning off the lights as Krinn yawned and rolled over on the bed. Earlier he had been forced into eating the herbs Lan had gotten for him and had gulped down a horde of sweet things afterwards. It had taken two whole hours of Lan chasing Krinn around the apartment screaming that he had to take it or else, but finally it had come to an end with Krinn grudgingly doing what La told him would make him feel better. The bed felt great and Krinn rolled over into it once more. It was so much more comfy then his old one and Lan had promised to get him one just as nice the next day, along with some icecream since he hadnt gotten any that night. Yawning, Krinn mumbled "I'm glad..." Lan looked back, blinking at the boys slurred, half asleep words. "It wasnt the gods punishing me....." Then he was asleep and Lan was looking menacing as he closed the door silently. "Oh Willow, you're in for it now you little girly girl..." Willow was always one for teasing and loved to trick people into believing something completely stupid. It couldnt have been anyone else but her who had put that thought into Krinns mind. No wonder the poor boy was worrying like hell and being moody-er then usual all day long. It was because of what must have been on his mind. Krinn sighed, knowing Willow didnt know that Krinn took everything way too seriously so he couldnt really blame her although it was sort of her fault that Krinn had made a big fuss over his aches without telling Lan.
Looking back as he closed the door, Lan sighed then chuckled. "The gods wouldnt punish you." He muttered to his young, sleeping companion. "They wouldnt have the time with such a moody little kid." Then he smiled and glanced over, closing the door fully.
"Goodnight Krinn."
