Silver cloven hooves trodded silently on the soft earth beneath her as the unikalona mare made her way aimlessly across the vast expanse of empty hillsides, gaze focused disinterestedly on the ground. Wandering was a part of her lifestyle, and although at times she wished for something more, she was doubtful that anything would ever come of it. A soft, lilting melody rose from her lips as she walked, glittering wings unfolding from her sides to enjoy the feel of the breeze upon them in the cold, dark of night.
"Hitomi wo fuseruto, sugu kieteshimai soude... Jibun ga mishiranu, tanin ninattaki gasuru..."
The song was one of her favorites... a melancholic tune of despair and hope... one her mother had sang to her as a lullaby, and she'd always remembered with affection. On days like this, she sorely missed her kind mother's company, although she never regretted leaving her and their homeland. It was something that had to be done, for more reason than one, and Amaya could not bring herself to re-think the decision.
"Kakidashite shimatta, kodoku no kehai no kazu wo, tada..."
Her slow steps halted as the melodic notes drifted into the crisp night air, metallic glittering hues sliding closed in a brief moment of serenity as the song carried her away on its swift wings of reminiscence, her mind drifting away to another place and time. It had been a long time since she had allowed herself to think about her old life, and however unpleasant it might have been, it was still her home, and the memories brought a certain measure of comfort.

Thoughts of his birthplace were, quite predictably, far from the dark unicorn's mind. Not that he regretted being born to that particular herd, nor that he grew up in a light other then the teachings of the One God. He didn't even regret all of the terrible things they had done to him.. and to the younglings in his care before he had stopped them. No, he was rather fond of the experiences that led to his enlightenment, despite the sacrifices along the way that... well... had he really been thinking about it, he actually would have regretted terribly. At the moment though, his thoughts were unpredictably tranquil (given where he was) and he was even thinking about closing his eyes. But for the incessant wind that pulled at his long mane, whipping his head and neck, he would have done so already. After all, hilltops were good lookout points, but even better napping points. When awake, it gave him both the advantage in seeing, and in being seen. While if he were napping, that would just leave the being seen, which was just as good given his rather social nature and the constant drive to convert more followers to the enlightened teachings of He Who Accepts Even Traitors. Otherwise known as the One God... Naturally he did worry about predators. Sometimes. It'd be awful to awake and see a smoldering carcass... since attempting to kill the One God's Messenger surely wouldn't go over very well with said deity.

Her still form jerked slightly as the dark mare became aware of another presence in the near vicinity, silver hues snapping open as the melodic notes floating in the air abruptly ceased. Ebon' furred ears twitched to and fro at the sound of footsteps approaching, taking a step back towards the shadows as a faint outline became visible against the dark backdrop of the moonlit sky. The dark silouhette was slightly larger than herself, and another step back followed this revelation as she eyed the other form in consternation. She was in no mood to defend herself tonight... she would much rather have the peace and quiet of solitude on this starlit night.
It became apparent after a few moments that the stranger had a pelt as dark as her own, with a sparse decorating of white upon it. She also noted, with some rising interest, that the newcomer had a horn and a tail much like her own. The thought almost made her speak up to let her presence be known, but she kept quiet, unsure if even another of her mother's kind would be welcoming to what she was. Most unicorns were kind creatures, she'd been told... but there were always exceptions to the rules. Her own existence was a contradiction, after all.
She watched him draw closer, silver hues recognizing the masculine form identified as a stallion, but still said nothing. She half hoped he would fail to notice her form hidden in the shadows, but another part of her wished for him to stop and converse with her. Dismissing the idea, she opted to keep silent.

Pausing in his forward movement, Toujours took a long, silent, moment to just gaze upwards. It really wasn't often that he felt this close to his Creator, but here... beneath the blanket of stars, he felt infinitesimally small, and yet so very loved... all at the same time. This lonely hilltop was one of the highest in the area, for which he had migrated too for that very purpose, and despite irrelevant thoughts of predators, teachings, and strangers... he just breathed.
In.
And out.
Peace wove it's way gently through his veins then, but instead of feeling tired, he felt refreshed; and far more awake then he had a moment before.
"I really must meditate more." he mused aloud, unaware of the silent watcher until a stray breeze shifted a wayward bough in the dark mare's general direction; and his amber gaze slid over to ascertain the cause of movement. But instead of a small woodland creature, (as he had subconsciously presumed) he found a vague shape dimly visible in the shadow of the night... one that could be a soquili, but could just as well be his imagination.
Curious, and feeling very relaxed, he released a low whinny of greeting. No words or undertones accompanied the sound... if the stranger wanted to respond, that was their choice.
