(( PRP for Maalya and Citrus. <3 )) Maalya's maw opened wide, a large yawn coming from within. Wings stretching out to the side as she did so, small puffs of dust arose beneath their leathery surfaces. Seated atop a large, smooth rock, the painter's eyes wandered across the terrain, looking first at several small, wiry shrubs, but soon moving on to watch the sun move itself farther down and away from the sky, beneath the horizon. "Dusk already?" she murred aloud softly, tail curling about her side, "Time seems to have... flown by." She sat there for a moment more, pondering what she should do with herself at this moment.

Maalya wasn't the only one out at this hour. Not too far from her flew another of her kind, looking for a rocky outcrop of some sort to settle down and watch the sun set. The brightly coloured avidracus flew around the sky before dipping low, nearly running smack into the brown female before swerving heavily to the side.
"Ah!" After a rather rough landing on the ground Citrus shook her head and looked back at Maalya. "Wow, you really blend into the rocks there! Sorry~" She cooed, raising a paw defensively and laughing nervously.

Slightly startled as this other painter nearly collided into her, Maalya's spines picked up a bit defensively. However, as she realized that the other was just as surprised as her, she relaxed, a broad smile pulling across her jaws. Her wings folded to her back, before she stepped a bit closer to the other female, watching her curiously.
"It's quite alright," she replied, laughing softly, "Things like that can happen. Are you alright? You seem to have just had a rather rough landing just then... I'm Maalya."

"Yeah, I'm fine." The colourful female fluttered her feathery wings to get off the dust. "Citrus is my name." She grinned as well, giving a slight bow in exaggerated greeting. "Waiting for the sun to set too?" Citrus asked, dusting herself off a little more. The desert sure was... deserty.

Maalya laughed once more as the other spoke- she was quite taken with this new arrival. There was something about her that was friendly, and it was rubbing off onto her. "That's good to hear," she replied, before her eyes gazed back out to the sun, pupils turning to slits as the rays hit them, "And yes; I've found that the desert is a prime place to watch the sun, after all."

"It can be a little blinding at times, but when the sun hits the rocks just right it's like they sing." Citrus said, walking towards the other female and perching on the same large rock beside her. She wasn't hesitant at all about getting close to someone she had just met. "Like a painting, I guess you could say." Looking to the sun as well, she pulled her eyes away shortly after - it was still a little too bright for her liking.
"It's nice to find someone else who appreciates it. Normally I end up watching it all alone."

"Sing?" Maalya was intrigued by the thought- she had never looked at it that way before. "A painting, yes, but... how does it sing?" She watched as the other looked to the sun, pulling her eyes away shortly after. She smiled lightly, wrapping her tail about her as she reseated herself upon a large, smooth rock, still warm from the sun's rays.
"Yes, it's much better with company, I would say," she added, nodding slowly, "Much better."

Citrus blinked and looked at Maalya. "Hmmm, how to explain it..." She trailed off and looked at the small rocks littering the landscape. "Say every rock and bush is a string. When the sun hits them, its as if they're playing a certain note like an orchestra." She paused. "Or maybe I'm just weird, I dunno." The colourful female laughed.

Maalya looked upon the rocks for a moment, listening carefully to the other's words as she spoke. Her head nodded slowly, eyes going from rock to rock as they began to become bathed in a warm, orange glow.
"I believe... I understand." she replied, chuckling softly, "I've never looked at it that way before. You've got quite the imagination, you know that?"

Citrus laughed once more. "I've been told that quite a lot, actually!" She wondered how anyone could live without an imagination. It made life so much more fun and vibrant, so full of life. "I don't mind though. I like to daydream."
