"Will you push me on the swing?"
"No."
"But you said-"
"Ophelia, no," Dmitri looked up from the book he had been reading. He wished he could be anywhere else than the park today and he wished he hadn't opened his big mouth. He had promised his little charge he would take her some where when she had still been miserible and discomforted by her wings coming in, it seemed like the best thing to do at the time to make her feel better, but he regretted saying it almost as soon as he uttered the words.
She looked at him with large sad eyes but they never worked on him, if anything the colour of them only reminded him of the reasons he was so against being there, so against being with her. "Look I have to finish reading this," he said holding up his book, "I was suppose to read it a couple of days ago but I was busy looking after you remember? Now just run along and play by yourself. Maybe, maybe I'll play with you later."
Ophelia nodded as her guardian looked back down at his book. She was trying not to be sad or angry, like he said it was her fault that he didn't have his book done, so she wasn't allowed to be sad. She turned away from him and looked at the brightly coloured playground equipment that stood before her. It held a lot less interest now then when they had first got there.
A walk seemed like a good idea to her now, there were trees and a nice open area, it seemed like exploring her for a least a little while would be entertaining. So she started to wander.

Kain felt more than little guilty as he turned the last corner. Bethan had got on his nerves so much though....he just had to escape didn't he? Not that it really mattered now. He was in trouble anyway, and it wasn't like he ever had to go back anyway - was it? He signed spending a few seconds sensing the air for familarity, after-all he didn't want to get lost as well though it had been a while since he had gotten out the house, let alone around the town.
He stretched out his wings sending a gloomy patturn of colours across the pavement, it did not matter he couldn't see what beauty it created just, if someone was close it tended to either scare them or entrance them, least as of recent. Coming out of the shadows wasn't one of his best ideas. He heard no-one and asumming it was safe crossed over into the field beside the park. The air was fresher here and there was more chance to think at least. On the off chance he might see one of his younger friends over here, well really just people he knew.
Kain laid out on the grass under what he thought to be shade of a nice tree. Though he never could be certain these days, and listened to his sorroundings. He could hear paper blowing about in the breeze and the wave of the grass as wind took it turn and somewhere off a little way, footsteps and the voices of passer-bys. He sighed again only this time with a little hope. Things could only get better right? He hummed slowly to himself a nursey rhyme trying to drift off into sleep. It wasn't until that moment he started to hear footsteps a little closer, not that it bothered him, just tense up a little. Who was it?

Ophelia walked with her eyes turned upwards. She liked watching the clouds as they drifted on the wind and changed shapes. She liked looking up at the trees too trying to spot birds or other animals that inhabited the branches. It was a bad habit, when she did it she tended not to pay attention for anything else around her. This time in particular a tree root, her foot caught on it and down she went, with a bit a yelp in surprise. She landed flat on her face.
Since she hadn't been paying attention it was a bit of a surprise when she sat up and she saw someone beneath the same tree she had just tripped over and quite close by too. If she had been a little more unlucky she might have fallen on him.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean- I'm sorry," she mumbled as she got to her feet again.

With the thump of the other herald hitting the ground, a very startled Kain started to scramble up to his feet. His heart pounding with the shock he shook his head and faced himself towards the sound.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean- I'm sorry,"He heard. The voice the was soft and more childlike which would of explained the light footsteps. Though quite obviously embrassed over what happened. It made Kain smile, quite easily, which was strange considering what was going on.
Pretty much guessing what happened, he tried to look at for a few more clues on the female before as he spoke. "Nothing to be sorry for.....are you okay?" he asked a little more conserned for the strangers health than manners. Though it was nice to talk to talk to someone who had them he thought thinking of his guardian. "You just gave me a bit of a scare" he added truthfully. Maybe she wouldn't feel so embrassed if he was too?

Ophelia nodded in response to the question about her being okay. She hadn't noticed the blindfold right away and when she did after a bit of silence, she blushed and said in her small weak voice, "I'm fine, sorry that I scared you."
At that point she noticed something else about the man that stood before her now and she let out a gasp before say, "your wings, they're so pretty." She had never seen anything quite like his wings, and she couldn't think of anything as beautiful. She subconsciously pulled her own wings tightly against herself as if trying to hide them. Her wings were so much less... perfect then his, she was ashamed.

After quite a pause, Kain noticed the change in temperture near him. It was a lot easier to consentrate on other senses when blindfolded, but certainly heat when you were cold.
Kain Nigel was just about to comment again on her, needless apolizing but was stopped and actually quite stunned with a compliament. "Erm, do you really think so? I can only see if its pitch black...so i havn't seen them for months" Kinda embrassed he only extended for a little while for her to see before without realizing mirroring the girl by folding his wings away. The glass, tickered together leaving only a small reflected shadow on the ground, but it was impossible to hide them completely from their sire size.
He coughed moving the subject on quickly, curiousity kicking in this time. He didn't want to so quickly run away from this one. There was something different about her from the other heralds around. "Sooo...who are you may i ask? he asked almost thoughtlessly. "Im, sorry i should introduce myself first...My name is Kain Nigel" he added noting to himself, that the younger of the two was still more up to date on manners than him. He wasn't that used to socializing. Possibly because he hid so long, possibly because most viewed him as handicaped rather than gifted or maybe because his self-conious got the better of him.

As he spread his wings for the brief moment for her to see, she looked at them with awe and then was a little sad when he folded them away.
Her attention went back to the actual person standing before her. She nodded and smiled as he introduced himself. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Ophelia," she said and held out her hand to shake. She paused and looked at her hand, feeling kind of odd forgetting he couldn't see.

Kain feeling the air move yet again assummed this was part of the habit Tamuril had taught him, and placed his hand out after the girl, wondering if that was really what she was doing. He always felt a bit stupid doing this. Another wonder was if the girl uneven felt comfortable talking to him. At least now he knew her name. He rested his arm and continued hoping it was no big deal. "Err, so what are you doing over here anyway?" he asked curiously. Hoping that she didn't have any plans such as his own.

Ophelia was a little surprised when he put out his hand too. She hadn't been expecting him to and for a moment she wondered if the blindfold was just for show and he could really see. She got distracted from that train of thought when he inquired as to why she was there though.
"I'm just exploring," she replied.

"But you sound so young, though these days its hard to be sure....should you really be alone?" he asked without too much thought, at least at first. Usually people came in pairs anyway, why was this one alone. It had taken him a while but it only just occured to him, that this child...adult....person might be another Herald though unlike before where it was easier to tell it wasn't so much so. Kain hadn't paid much attension to other heralds before so the only way he could think of identifing them, was wings vibrations and the difference in aura, though even they were hard to be certain of.

"I'm not alone. Well not really. Dmitri is over there, he looks after me. He's busy so I'm sure he won't mind," Ophelia said as she made a gesture and looked back in the direction her guardian and smiled as best she could as her thoughts turned to him. She was still a little upset that he seemed to be too busy for her.
She shook her head though and turn her attention back to Kain. He was nice and she was enjoying talking to him. There seemed to be something else about him, she wasn't sure what, but it was... something. Maybe if it was because he had wings too... Either way, he seemed nice.

If Kain could of done he would of looked at his feet but he couldn't so he shook his head instead. He knew she had moved her hands and arms but it was too quick and not as easy movement so he had no clue where her guardian was. At least she didn't feel uneasy around him though, which was an improvement. On this bias he didn't bring it up.
The word guardian did make him perk up a little though. She had to be a herald if she had a guardian, that or adopted which was much the case these days as he found out as a child. It was really about time to bite the bullet and ask. "Ophelia...by any chance as you what most called a herald?" he just had to be certain now, the curiousity was getting to him, but what if she didn't know what one was?

Ophelia frowned a little at Kain's question. Herald... She hadn't heard the word before. Kain was the first other herald she had met and Dmitri had never met any of the others either so it wasn't as if he knew either. She wasn't sure what she was, she knew she wasn't the same as Dmitri, he spared no opportunity to make that fact know to her, but he never really answered what she was. But the word seemed... right.
"I don't know... Dmitri found me in the rain, he saved me and now he looks after me, he says I was an angel," she said as she thought about what she knew about her origin. "I have wings link one too., but they're..." she trailed off, her wings were ugly and she'd rather not talk about them.

Kain felt dishearted as soon as she mentioned she didn't know, but by the end of it there was still a flickering bit of hope left in him. She had wings and a guardian....not many around here had both as far as he knew, though it wasn't as if he could go looking for them. Kain kept his gentle smile and tried to keep her talking for it was nice on one level just to speak to someone new, and on otherlevel, somewhat lower in this case, to find out if she was a Herald. "You were lucky to be saved, i was too orginally...." he was about to continue but decided to miss that story, he hated that part of his past. "So, you say your an angel...what about your wings? They ok?" he asked curiously. "There not hurt or anything are they?"

Ophelia too was curious when he mentioned that he was saved as well but she bit back the question, she had been told that prying was bad so she kept her mouth shut.
"My wings?" she said a little weakly and looked at the ground. Of all things he could ask about it had to be her wings "they're fine, they're just... really ugly, not nearly as nice as yours are."
