...of this scripture, do you guys (and girls) think?
John 12:23-26
23Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
This beats me right in the face!

It goes back to 1 Peter 5:5b "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." For us to bear fruit, our self has to die. For our self to die, there comes the experiences of being pruned in order to bear fruit, going into the fire to return as gold... etc. These things that come into our lives and cause us to humble ourselves under God's hand and to decrease self and increase in the Spirit is what causes us to bear fruit as Christians. John 15 1"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardene r. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

Which brings me to my next question: What does it mean to bear fruit?? The fruits of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness and Self-control. (See Galatians 5:22) Along with those set fruits are the harvest that we ought to reap: lives to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, the captives being set free, healing the sick...etc. (John 4:34 - 36) To bear fruit is having some aspect of your life being molded to the heart of Christ. It can be shown both inwardly (something that had changed or you see the fruits being reaped in the lives of those around you, those you have ministered to...etc.

Which brings me to my next question: What does it mean to bear fruit?? We know (recognize) trees by their fruit. Fruit is the evidence of WHO we are. There are good and bad fruits. Jesus wants good fruit on our 'tree' when we say we are following him. So in short, FRUIT is like FAITH. It is the EVIDENCE of things hoped for. We hope to love, show mercy, joy, make peace, be patient, kind, gentle et cetera! Those things, therefore, should continue to bud and bloom openly in our lives. heart 3nodding
