User Image Hamaki was irritated. She had just fiished hunting for the family she supported alone, and the three little dogs were at the den eating their supper. There were heavy clouds rolling by above her, and she could hear the distant rumble of thunder of the land.

The sleek and small dog made her way to a pond, wading into it's depths and letting it wash away the blood and dirt from her hunt. She lapped at the water absentmindedly. She loved her children but they were a handful and she didn't know how much longer she could handle taking care of them.

Her eyes closed softly as she stood in the pond, her mind lost as another rumble of thunder shook the land, closer this time. She thought of her past, something she tended to think about fairly often, and she wondered if she would ever get her revenge. The three children were just another obstacle in her mind, and she played the waiting game, hoping hat when they grew up they'd live their own lives and she could get on with her ultimate destiny.

User ImageMoyo was almost a polar opposite to the unfortunate canine. He had not a care in the world and was yet still wanting something else. As if his rather 'cushy' life was not good enough. He was free to come and go as he pleased, he had no family of his own, although he still went back to his mother and half-siblings very often. Not a care in the world.

He gracefully alighted a peaked boulder and watched the horizon, feeling the same thunderclaps shudder through his very skeleton. And then he saw something...rather odd.

A black mass, must have been a creature of some sort, stood in the middle of a pond. And on top of that - wearing animal bones. What kind of creature adorned themselves in bones?

Moyo always fell prey to his curiosity and so he slid down from his rocky perch and approached the edge of the water.

"Rains can't come soon enough?" he enquired.

Hamaki's eyes darted open, looking fiercely over at the cheetah. Just wonderful. Of course some bone-headed creature had to come down and ruin her peace, she couldn't have one afternoon alone? Why must they always speak to her?

The dog grunted in response, her eyes still on him. She didn't move from her spot, her body stiff as a statue. Small fish had begun to circle her, curious as to what this still thing was in the water. She felt them nibbling on her toes and the bones along her back, but she remained where she was.

She hoped that her lack of response would make the cheetah leave, but she had the feeling it wouldn't be that easy. His curious expression made it clear he would probably talk to her again. Wonderful.

The silent type. Maybe she was just shy, although her bone-wear should have been an indication to her more hostile nature. Moyo wasn't all that observant though, and often missed the littel details in favour of getting on with things.

This being one of those times.

He didn't want to particularly wade in to talk to her, so he hovered at the edge of the pond, tail flicking about behind him.

"Just like the water then?" he tried again, speaking a bit louder in case she was hard of hearing.

Poor, dim Moyo.

Hamaki closed her eyes in utter annoyance. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, She could feel her blood begin to race, and whenever that happened she got angry. And when she got angry she got violent.

The black dog opened her eyes again, half hoping the cheetah would just be gone. But of course he wasn't, he was still there with that dense skull of his. Hamaki sighed once again, her tail beginning to twitch restlessly behind her.

"Yes, I do like the water. I was cleaning myself after my last hunt." She spoke to him with no emotion in her voice, hoping still that he would just leave. She waded towards the shore, the small fish around her dissapearing as she kicked up sand. She was trying very hard not to get angry, but her eyes flashed dangerously anyway.

"Ah yes, very good thing to do, clean yourself after a hunt," he smiled and spoke with an almost all-knowing air, as if it would be terrible to think otherwise.

Feeling encouraged by a response, Moyo skirted around the pond, not wishing to get his feet wet.

"Don't see many canines 'round these parts, you travelling through or something?"

This was his rather brick-headed way of finding something out about Hamaki. He wasn't very subtle was he.

Hamaki glared daggers at him as he pranced around the waters edge. She walked up on to the shore, and shook herself off, the bones along her back rattling with a rather sick sound.

"No, I am not traveling. I live not far from here." She looked over at him again, still not emotion in her voice. He was starting to really agitate her now, and her tail twitched even more. Her head lowered and her ears flattened down against her skull as she glared at him. Her lip twitched, a snarl forming in her throat. She hoped the pose would scare him off, and if not, then she didn't trust herself with what would happen to the dense cheetah.

This canine's choice in attire was beginning to creep him out a bit, even more so when she chose to rattle them, for spooky effect he was sure. His brow furrowed and nose wrinkled in disapproval.

And then came her warning...

Moyo stiffened and his fur bristled, but he kept calm, despite that little voice inside saying 'huzzah, battle!'. Unfortunately, he was one of those types who did not know when to leave well enough alone.

"I was only asking," he seemed to pout, betraying his childish state of mind.

Hamaki's dark eyes were set on him, and her head lowered slightly more. He tail twitched a few times and she took a step towards him. "I thought perhaps you would have understood that I do not want to tlak with you. I want nothing to do with you, cheetah." She growled, her lips curling up to reveal her long, white teeth.

She took another step towards her, the bones on her back making a sickening clicking sound with every motion she made. She hadn't even meant for the bones to do that, but she accepted it as an added perk to the image she was trying to convey.

With yet another step a low growl escaped her and her eyes narrowed. She had had enough, and she wanted badly to teach this imbecile a lesson.

Although his tail seemed to swish even more at her approach, he stayed put. His outward visage was that of a somewhat pompous male, looking down his nose at the canine. Inside, his youth was beginning to panic a little. He'd built himself up as some kind of hero, living up to the adventures of the cheetah's in his mother's almost legendary tales. And it was for that reason only that his resolve stayed.

However, for someone like Hamaki, she would no doubt begin to sense his nerves. Moyo had lots to learn.

His nostril's twitched and flared slightly.

"Fine. But this watering hole doesn't belond to you, so I've every right to stay," he replied, perhaps foolishly.

Hamaki glared at the male, her eyes shining dangerously. She lowered her head further, eyes never leaving him. They wandered to his tail, watching it twitch slightly faster. She grinned at him, a grin filled with insanity.

"You're scared. And you should be." She said before lunging at him, her jaws wide and reaching for his throat.

His immature retort of 'I'm not!' got caught in his throat, literally. For a cheetah, he didn't move quick enough to avoid those dangerous jaws totally. Whilst he managed to escape without being killed, his neck was grazed and even gashed in some places. He hopped out of harms way, his form elegant even in his hasty and frenzied retreat.

He breathed deeply, looking back at the rather scary, grinning Hamaki, his eyes wide in shock. The hotness of blood trickled from his neck and all the way down his legs. His tail was stiff and un-moving. His limbs braced in case she felt the need for more cheetah blood.

Hamaki did indeed feel the need for more cheetah blood. She set herself in a ready stance, eyes blazing with excitement. She hadn't been in a battle in some time, and the rush of adrenaline made her grin wider. "Come on, cheetah, fight back!" She yelled at him, his blood dripping down the side of her mouth.

She watched him for a few moments, but soon enough she longed to feel his flesh in her mouth once more, and she attacked yet again, this time aiming for the back of his neck, so she could bring him down.

Moyo's initial action was to turn and run, but within mere seconds he'd wheeled about to face Hamaki, putting that short distance between them first so he could place a well-timed blow.

She sounded ferocious. He sounded weak, whimpering and like a youngster. But he took a swipe regardless, aiming for her nose and muzzle. It would put him dangerously close to her though.

Hamaki's jaws missed their mark, he was fast. She felt his claws dig into her flesh, and she shook her head violently as she felt blood run down her muzzle. Turning, she glared at him once more. Cuts didn't effect her much, she was scarred already. She ignored the searing pain and ran at him again, he was fast, but so was she.

With a howling rage she aimed for him again, this time running full at him, meaning to tackle him down. She was small but strong, and she leaped at him full on, teeth bared and eyes glowing.
