So I finally beat Sae (FINALLY T___T) on Director's Cut. So I decided to post the method I used. She really IS a one-touch killer. I had full-health and a Stone Mirror and she touched me, and I died instantly. (I died a little inside, because I went through the * and back getting that Stone Mirror.) Then I went for round two...and again...and again. Until finally I smashed my "Evade" function and dodged her! So the lesson: Smash your Evade, it's your friend. We love Evade. It's our preciousssss.....
Before you start, I personally love wearing a different costume. Mio runs a bit faster as opposed to not wearing a normal one. You will also need the CRUSH function to level 3, EVADE, and SAVE functions. Full Type-Zero and Type-90 helps.
Walk down after defeating the Kusabi. Pick up the FINAL LETTER. Read it if you wish. Pass through the gate. Marvel at the pretty architecture. Think about holding your birthday/anniversary/funeral/Christmas/other major holiday in this room, if you wish. Raise up your camera, make SURE the film is done loading, and move forward in Camera mode. Watch as Mayu magically runs MEGA fast at you (why can't she run that fast in the real game? D: ), and then FATAL FRAME her. Then the fun begins. (If you miss, you're dead. Unless...has someone actually managed to run AWAY from her? O_O)
If you used all your camera power on the Kusabi, no problem! Just switch to Type-90 (or 61, but I prefer 90) film (I also prefer to do this by bringing up the menu, and loading it there.) and run towards Sae so she disappears in her cloud and then ninja's away to laugh more at you. Oh, you silly crazy kimono girls. :B Now, make SURE you have enough room to back up and move around. Wait for Sae to follow you and take a quick Core Shot to charge your camera. She'll stop briefly, then keep walking. Keep your cool! WAIT FOR THE YELLOW TO APPEAR AROUND THE CORE CIRCLE!! If you shoot too soon, it won't register and she'll get you. Same thing if you shoot too late. Once your camera is charged to the four storage orbs, QUICKLY lower your camera and RUN. Sae will will rush at you and reach for you...and hopefully miss you. Do this another time. And another, for three successful dodges. If she grabs you, QUICKLY SMASH THE EVADE. You MAY get lucky (I have! :'D) and knock her back. Proceed to run.
Then she stops. QUICK. Pull up your menu screen, load Type-Zero into the camera, and wait for the FATAL FRAME to appear. Go FATAL-FATAL-CRUSH. (Or FATAL-CRUSH if she's near the wall and will likely be knocked into it) After that, load Type-90 back in, and repeat the Core Shots/Fatal Frames. Sae should be defeated soon. When you hit the final blow, she'll be standing over the Hellish Abyss. Wait for the Zero Shot moment, hit her, and she goes back to the * for good. Rejoice at the pretty cutscene.

question? i beat the game on normal mode but i never had to defeat sae.
does she just show up in nightmare mode or did i miss something????

want a better way to defeat sae?
take my advice...
the advice from the walkthrough!
Sae will spend most the battle enveloped in a cloud of red mist. She is
completely invulnerable whilst inside this cloud. After standing and laughing
at you for a while, she'll start walking toward you. When she begins to get
close, she'll lunge for your neck. Make sure you are facing away from her as
she starts to approach. Then, as she begins to make her lunge, run! If you
time this properly, her attack will miss. Even if she does grab you, you can
use the Evade function to hopefully avoid taking damage. She will repeat this
lunging attack three times. After the third attack, she will appear and the
red cloud of mist will disappear. Aim at her through the Camera; when the
Shutter Moment occurs, WAIT. At the end of the Shutter Moment, there will be a
short opportunity for a Fatal Frame. This is when you should strike. Start
off the Combo with your Zero Lens or Blast Lens to inflict maximum damage. If
you're using Type-61 Film or stronger, and you can succeed in chaining together
a couple of combos, you will win the fight. Don't let the occasional tremors
bother you--they will slow you down, but they will slow Sae down as well.

XP .....can i shake your hand? 3nodding *shakes hand* The walkthrough does not ruin much of anything for you even on your first time through...it helps you figure out what to do so you can enjoy the game and not get frustrated.. ^__^ Luckily, i'm a patient person ^-^~ defeating sae actually wasn't that hard o3o i caught on pretty quickly of how to defeta her without reading the walkthroughs or anything like that. i think the final battle could've been..... more epical. :/
