" what an odd day it is. "
The cold hard rain came down in heavy strokes that day, shrouding the skies of Amies in dark rainclouds. Most of the shops had been closed up for atleast an hour now, and the only glow on the street came from a small cafe on the corner of the the square within Amies. Within it were two living souls, one that wasnt quite noticed as of yet. Lan leaned heavily against his broom, the soft sound of rain his only comfort against the silence of it all. He had offered to stay after and clean up for the weekend before he went home and Dasity and Naki had totally, absolutely bailed on him. Sighing, he wiped a bit of sweat off and glanced back at the sparkling clean cafe. Now all he needed to do was the floor and that was it. The bottle sat contently on the counter, its black mist swirling around it. For some reason, Lan thought that it was slightly more active today then any other day. Of course this was one of the rare days in which the rain came down like coarse, hard hail and you could barely see two inches infront of you. It was sort of a storm, the wind blowing harshly every now and then. Lan didnt very much like the prospect of going out in that, but then again he had to to get home. In the morning it had been content and peaceful, but now it looked like the gods themselves were throwing tantrums all over the place and making a mess with the humans below.
Lan put away the broom, tossed his apron into the dirty clothing pile he'd finish up on monday, slipped the bottle into the bookbag he had carried along and stepped into the wind and rain, his jacket almost instantly soaked to the bone. Lans umbrella did almost nothing, and he ran blindly in the path towards home, though sometimes it was a bit strange and distressing because he had no idea which way was which. Of course, nothing ever went as planned, and Lans umbrella was torn away from him three minutes into walking. It definately was much more trouble then it was worth. He saw the outlines of it being taken away from him and swore vividly, running after it in haste. Making it to the end of the alley, Lan realized as he brought his umbrella from the water that he had ended up in another maze where it looked almost exactly like the place outside where he had found the bottle. "I definately need to get out of this storm..." he muttered, and seeing the gap in the wall identical to the one he had crawled through, started on his way over there. The raging water got him soaked as he went across the stepping stones and hopped in, but that was nothing compared to his clothing.
Crawling and making sure he had the bottle in tow, Lan hopped out at the ending and sneezed. The place he was at was a bit larger then where he had found the bottle, and Lan realized that it must have been a very old maze of drainage routes going into different places. Sweeping his sopping wet hair away from his face, Lan leaned against a wall and sighed. Now what was he to do? He had gotten so off track in the rain that he didnt know where to go from there. Deciding he would try to stay there until the storm stopped, Lan fished out the bottle and glanced down at it. Maybe you should bring it back to the place where you found it and see if anything happens... Dasity's voice rang eagerly in his ear from the conversation yesterday. They had come over to the market, Lan as Dasity's bag holder. Afterwards, Lan had heatedly refused any attempt to get his nails painted. Then Dasity asked about the bottle and that led to them wondering if it would change again, and what could possibly trigger it to.
Glancing up, Lan realized the one thing he didnt like about this almost identical spot. There was a hole in the roof where rain came through, splashing into the clear centered pool. Sighing, Lan wrapped his arms around himself and the bottle and wondered if Sona would be mad when he got home. Hopefully the storm didnt last for long though....He needed to dry his clothes, and get Sonas food...and talk to Dasity. Then, he closed his eyes and let his bookbag be his pillow, the bottle safely tucked in his arms as he drifted off from a long day of work and no play. Which of course, wasnt very smart but what else could he have done?
A few hours later, small rays of sun leaked through and stained Lans face, making him wake slowly to the amusement of morning. Had he really slept that long? Stretching with a groan, Lan looked down at his lap, the bottle still safely placed there. Picking it up, Lan stood, noticing the rainclouds still dot the sky through the hole in the ceiling. Without a real thought in his mind, Lan waded into the shallow pool, and glanced up through the hole. The rainclouds looked like large gray, slow moving animals, bunched up in the sky. Lifting the bottle, Lan watched the shattered shards of sunlight drift through it. But what he was entertained by was the reflection of the sky and rainclouds in its glassy material. It was so....odd. Lan sighed, almost falling back but instead just taking a step back and catching light off the side of the bottle before it was enraptured by the dark clouds above. It was time to get home...But Lan was so intrigued for a mysterious reason that he wasnt moving, lost in thought. He was soaked still, and thank god he had a good immune system.
"Silly bottle...."
