Washingtion Post

Reuters: Tibet

What does everyone think about what's going on in Tibet?

Personally, my heart is crushed and goes out to the people of Tibet. I think the world should put some pressure on China to leave Tibet alone. I feel like I should do something... but I don't know what. I've been aware of what's been going on, but today, it really hit me hard.

my guess is china wont never loosen its grip on Tibet And they will censor any bad news that will make them look bad especially since there hosting the summer games.

i have been hearing various news reports about Tibet; one being the dead count (reports coming as i heard them sunday night) China says 10 people have died while the Tibet Government-in-exile claims 80 people have died. my belief is China will try to make itself look good as the summer games near.

what do you guys think?

So we signed a free trade deal with China today (as you do). They cancelled the press conference we were gonna have because of the Tibet issue, but Helen Clark said that "I got a good hearing on Tibet. I said that we were deeply concerned. We called on China to show restraint and we did think it was time for China to be in dialogue with representatives with the Tibetan people including the Dalai Lama". So yeah... hopefully things'll get better. sad

G*d Damn it that freaking protest was at my school.
I was in my afternoon class when they were gettin' goin' with the yellin' and shite.

Americans get so worked up over issues that are not there own country's.
America has issues too you know. For example, oh I don't know, its DEBT.
OH! And there's an election coming up! Oh My G*D!

That's why America is not liked, always stickin' their nose in other countries business.

Here's a tip America; Be conceited for once in your freaking life and solve your OWN damn problems first. Then, if you really want to, help other countries, But ONLY If they'll let you. If they do NOT want your help, leave them the freak alone.

I just wanted to make sure you tell France and Britain to mind their own business and ignore China also. Keeping things fair and balanced and such.

Did you seriously not get the "If-others-jump-off-a-cliff-I'll-do-it-too" reference I made?

I was responding to the fact that you blamed America first for sticking its nose into China's business when it's the citizens of these countries that are outraged.

Oh no, so they care about all human beings and not just Americans? How terrible.

There's nothing wrong with speaking out when you think another country is abusing human rights. Now, if you then proceeded to forcedly free Tibet, that would be wrong.

Words can't really DO anything to change something.
Actions can do more than Words can, but not Enough.
What's the point? You have Hope? Or just Bored?
Pssshhha! Hope.
I am no longer Passive. It's a waste of time.
I am a Pessimist, and no amount of Words or even Actions "Protesting" me can change my mind.

(You'll have roommates someday, and you'll probably understand me then.)
