The hubby and I have moved back and started hanging out with two really good friends of ours. Ashley is three years younger than me and Shawn is two years. So they're both freshmen in college. And its making me want to go! Only I'm poor and married. Plus I totally failed at high school because I didn't care. Stupid me! But I would totally like some sort of education, don't know what though. So right now I'm looking...

Being married helps as far as I can tell. 3nodding Hubhubs and I are both sophomores at our University. We're poor too. xd If you find the right school, they are willing to give grants and the like for most of the sum of your education because you are independant and aren't making much.

Hubhubs and I are only taking about 3k out of 40k in loans. All the rest is covered by University grants and the state grant. 3nodding

So it's not impossible, it just maybe seems that way at first. blaugh

Yeah I've been looking it up. The college here as pretty nice apartments for married students, so we'd probably go with them since they are about 200 dollars cheaper than the other apartments. I've been to the two bedroom ones with friends. It makes the apartment I lived in when I was in Phoenix seem tiny.

I've been going over the pros and cons of this. This is what I've got.

-Education, duh. This is a no brainer. I want a big family some day. I probably won't be able to if neither of us have a college education.

-The town I live in is a college town. So EVERY place gives the students either a major discount or free stuff. This is a retarded reason..but still!

Cons

-We won't be eliable for being residental students for another six months, and then it'll be too late to apply for financial aid until the NEXT semester. We're currently living at my parents house and if we were going to go I would want to get an apartment, I'd want to wait until we could get the student ones since they are cheaper. But I don't want to over stay my welcome.

-I did BAD in high school.I have no idea how bad. I made Cs and Ds for the most part. I didn't care. I was depressed. But I'm pretty sure if you make high enough on the ACT it helps out. Plus I can get help with math since I have a learning disablity...

Well, if you have time like you say, I might advise signing up to take a GED. If you do some studying for it, it's the equivalent to a high school degree. Most colleges ask for either your highschool GPA, or your GED score. If you had a good GED score, it wouldn't matter at all how good or bad you did in highschool. 3nodding

In my case, I had to take the GED because I didn't have an "official" highschool diploma. lol

I don't know much about the American schooling system... is it different from the UK's?

Good luck whatever you decide!

The modern school system ish a confoozling one, I for one, know that I am going to graduate a semester early though!! ^w^

AWWWWWWRRIIIIIGGHHHHT!!!

Plus I can still be able to go to all the school senior activities!! Wooooo!!! Grad Night!! x3

But as for that GED thing, it's your best bet, since it's acceptable, plus if you have a learning disability, they'll totally help you out with all the programs they have out there. It's virtually impossible NOT to graduate...unless you drop out yourself or something ._.;;

I know exactly how you feel about everything Ame.

I've been watching my hubs go to school everyday and for a while now I've had this urge to go back to school.

And I also failed in school. I never did any of my work but I did great on my test so I barley passed. I think I was at a low D average when I graduated.

To add on to college suggestions, it might be possible to give yourself a college boost with a community college, especially if you want to get into a bigger college / university down the road. 3nodding Multiple advantages there:

-Probably able to get a couple tougher courses out of the way (assuming the community college is easier and works with your university of choice to make it easy to transfer.)

-Probably easier to get into in the first place

-Probably much cheaper, too

Down here in Austin, Texas, that describes the relationship between The University Of Texas and Austin Community College. 3nodding
