this does not apply to all trombonists, just the ones that are like this
i understand that when you are required by a piece to play fast notes, it is more physical work in order to play those eighth notes and such than a baritone or trumpet. but that does NOT give you a license to claim you're cooler or better just because you have to work harder at one aspect of music.
because where one thing is harder for yall, there is something that's hard for other instruments that is easier for you. you do not gain bragging rights
more is expected for other instruments, a lot of the time. for instance: the stamina level required of a trumpet player is typically higher but that does not give us bragging rights, either. i know there are arrogant trumpet jerks that might disregard that but there's always a bad egg amongst the group.
so stop complaining and belittling other musicians!
if you're wondering where this rant comes from, it was brought on by my own personal experience. you see, we are doing this march for concert called Onward-Upward. the low brass has lots of fast eighth notes and high stamina is required for the song. i understand that that is a lot of work for trombonists considering that they have to move their whole arm, not just there fingers like the baritones. but the trombonists at my school think that gives them the right to act like they're better than the baritones (and other valve instruments) and they just start bragging about it and crap. sooooo annoying. i guess they dont realize how other instruments have there own things that are very difficult.
sorry for the rant
if you are a trombonist that is not like this, please dont take offense because this is not aimed at you and i commend you for your maturity

well.... some trumpets/baritones/other brass valved instruments, brag about how well the can play some easy parts like that too.... and i get tired of it, but i don't go ranting about it, but if you are marching AND playing those really fast notes then you do reserve A LITTLE bragging rights... but if they are going on about 3 minutes about how high and mighty they are then i agree, they shouldn't be going on like their crap don't stink
SOME freshman trombonist do this all too often. they start getting as good as the trombone section leader and become arrogant fools... and i have to put up with them next year.... i hope they dont make me a bad person to 'em...
ps. IT'S BAND so, IT'S FUN and, WE ARE ALL EQUALLY CRAZY so take the crap from band members with a grain of salt..

All instruments have bragging rights... I personally think that some of the other instruments have a hella harder time the trombones on some parts... But trombones have equal challenges as well... As for the idiots in your band, they're just arrogant bastards... Has nothing to do with the instrument they play... We have a tuba player that acts the same way...

You shouldn’t mind the trombonists, let your music speak for you. They certainly can’t compare with the best trombonists in the history of this instrument so there’s nothing to brag about.
