Now Clare was a decent dog. Always listening to her owners.. Okay. So maybe she didn't always listen to her owners.. But she was a relatively happy dog, who lived a relatively happy life.
She had recently left home, to run the park with Gohan. But Clare had been sneaking off to go see the little girl, and the little girl seemed okay with that..So long as it wasn't a forever deal.
But the ebony and ivory dog knew when something was different. Her belly hung low, her eyes tired. Her body looked as if she had gained an enormous amount of weight around her midsection, and she looked down miserably.
Oh what was ailing her?
Of course she knew..
She knew the whole time..
Clare was pregnant.. Very pregnant.
She didnt know how she knew.. But there were alot of them coming.. She closed her eyes, trying to think.
Was she happy about this?
Of course. She had pups with the one she loved. But would Gohan accept the challenge of fatherhood so soon?
She hoped so.
Speaking of..Where was her furry mate?

 Gohan was getting a bit chubby himself. Let's just say he and the hotdog dealer were good friends now. Smiling to himself, with a full belly, he walked back to the little den where he and Clare were sleeping. He did bring a hotdog with him for her, except that he had accidentally gulped it down on the way. Oops...
Approaching the den, he thought of how wonderful it was to be spending time with Clare. He did miss his owner, and he bet his owner missed him, but love is love and you gotta do what you gotta do. It was almost time for them to go back, he knew Clare missed her family dearly.
Peering in, he didn't see Clare. Where was she? With a quick sniff, he turned around and saw her. "Well, hello there dumplin'" He wooed as he walked up to her, nuzzling her neck. "The meat man has an extra hotdog for ya if ya hungry."
Gohan was oblivious to how large her stomach was. She was still the same beautiful girl he fell in love with.

Her ears twitched as she listened, then they sprang up as a familiar nose touched her neck, and she smiled, closing her eyes and enveloping herself in his nuzzle.
She turned to look at him, the den right behind him. Oh what they had done in that small little 'den'.
She wagged her tail a bit, nodding slightly.
She was hungry all the time lately. She knew why, and she was surprised that Gohan had yet to see it.
She supposed it was a good thing he didn't notice her belly.. But it was driving her crazy knowing the pups were almost ready to arrive, and he still didnt know.
Her mind was racing with how to tell him. Should she lead up to it? Come straight out with it? She didn't know.She was a first time mom after all.
But her soft brown eyes smiled back at Gohan, as she offered her own nuzzle.
"Hello, my darling."
She paused, looking away. But only briefly before she started speaking, and looked back up at him.
"Gohan.. I have a surprise for you."

He wagged his overly fluffy tail excitedly. "Oh! Wanna go get a hot dog?!" He asked, not realizing that she actually had a surprise to tell him about. Hot dogs were his new favorite food, he couldn't help himself for thinking about hot dogs first.
Oh wait! His brain had just processed what she had stated. A surprise? Gohan wasn't too fond of surprises...unless the were good surprises! Well, this was Clare who had a surprise, so it must be good, right? Crouching, he wagged his tail even harder, playfully. "Wha, what is it, dandelion? Tell meeee!" He whined, nudging her front leg with his nose.
Suddenly, his blue eyes noticed something. His belly was a bit chunky, she had been eating a lot lately but poor Gohan hardly realized it. But being a polite gentleman, he didn't mention it.

She smiled, shaking her head at his puppy-likeness. He was so damned cute all the time. He had a hold on her, and it made her swoon.. Or maybe that was a headrush from carrying the pups. She didnt know.
She looked at him, giving him a soft face.
"Gohan.. Here. The best way, is to have you feel it."
She grabbed his leg, gently, in her mouth, moving his paw over her enlarged belly. Placing his paw gently down onto the roundness of her belly, she waited. Looking down at his paw touching her stomach.
He'd feel them move. He'd feel them kick. And he'd know.

Gohan raised an eyebrow. What the heck was she doing? This was a bit weird. His paw felt her stomach, there was some movement inside of it. What could it be? Aliens? Or perhaps she was just really hungry! This girl was always full of mystery!
"Grumbles?" He asked her, his blue eyes looking into her amber. "You must be pretty hungry for your stomach to be doing that." Either that or she was about to get the runs. The mutt couldn't recall his stomach every moving like that when he was hungry, or when he needed to poo. Clare was probably over estimating how much Gohan would figure out. He definitely wasn't the smartest pup in the park.
She would probably end up having to announce it. Poor doofus.

She giggled slightly, her body spasming slightly. Her smile went away, and she looked at her belly.. She didn't feel so good anymore..
"Go-Gohan.. I'm pregnant.. But more than that.." She grimaced, and stood up, ready to walk into the den that they had created. It was safe and warm in there..
But before she walked to the den, her eyes bared into his.
"And they're coming.. now.."
She said, walking slowly to the den, and taking her place at the back of it where the most warmth was kept.
She had blankets they had found in trash cans and such, lined up around the back, keeping her comfy.
Oh dear..

Gohan didn't have much time to think, or react. What the? Why didn't she tell him earlier! It would have relieved him of the sudden surge of stress that he was feeling now. He was the father? Clare was the mother? I guess that's what he got for romancing all those nights in their little den.
"YOU. YOU GOT BABIES IN YOU?!" Gohan asked quite loudly, surprised-like. Immediately, he starting panting like a madman. He jumped up, and began pacing around her, looking back and forth from her, to her stomach, to the den, and to the hotdog man. Holy s**t. Gohan, the usually calm mutt, was getting dizzy and blurry eyed. "LAY DOWN IN THERE, I'LL GETCHA WATER." His voice was loud, but definitely not mean sounding.
He began to wobble off towards the small stream that ran through the middle of the park, but his legs gave in. The poor mutt had fainted.

Clare didn't realize he had gone away. She was much too busy in her own little world. She knew it was time.. Puppies were going to be born today..and the only thing on her mind, was God please let them be healthy.
-1 hour later-
She was exhausted. Her breathing was slow, and her head rested on the blanket of which she was laying on.
Three little males, and three little females lie beside her. Snuggling her, and latching hungrily onto her.
She closed her eyes, waiting.. Where had Gohan gone?
"Gohan?" She asked, raising her head slightly, calling out as softly as she could.
"Oh Gohan.."

A splash of cold water, that smelled oddly like hotdogs, awoke a startled Gohan. He gasped, whoah, woah. What just happened? The mutt got to his wobbly legs, and looked up. Expecting to see hotdogs falling from the sky. Instead he saw the "meat-man" standing over him. The man had awoken poor fainted Gohan. Wagging his tail and giving the man a happy "Woof!" he showed his gratefulness. And suddenly regained consciousness about why he had passed out in the first place. His stomach suddenly surged forward, causing the mutt to upchuck on his rescuer's shoe. Claaaareee...
He didn't have time to pass out again, he had to get to Clare! The mutt had no idea how long he was asleep for, what if she was in trouble?! As fast as his wobbly legs could take him, he trodded through the grass and dirt and promptly landed at the entrance of their den.
"Squeak, squeak..."
What was that? "Clare?" He asked.
"Squeak, squeak..."
His ears flicked forward. Those...those....puppies?! His large head peeked in, it was dark. "
"Clare? Are you okay?"

Upon the time Gohan had come to, Clare felt well rested, and was nuzzling 6 little pups who fed from her greatfully. She wagged her tail upon seeing the healthy pups..
All who were beautiful aand very much a mix of her and Gohan. It was almost painfully obvious who the father to these pups were.
Finally, the father landed at the front of the den. She used the word landed, because he didnt walk in, nor did he run.. He kind of.. Waddled.
She gave a smile, and nuzzled the pups again while looking at her mate.
"Gohan.. Meet your new babies.."
She said, motioning with her nose to the pups that lay before her.

Gohan gasped silently. Staring at the darkness, trying to make his eyes adjust. His babies? From all the squeaking, it sounded like a lot. Goodness how fertile he must have been. Finally his eyes had adjusted a bit. Adjusted just enough to see 6 little gray, white and blue spotted pups. Jeeze, good job Gohan! You really nailed her. He thought, of course he would never say that.
"Cl-Clare..." He stated, staring at her and the pups. "Wow." And that was basically all he could say.
Staring in awe for a bit, he eventually decided to crawl in with her. Curling close, he rested his head beside the pups, watching them curiously. It was so weird how they had brought life into this world.
