Dear Aylee,

We're sure that once you saw this letter, you got more than a little freaked out. What we're asking is that you take the time to read, and consider, our collective opinions, rather than simply exiting out of it. This isn't an attack, it's concerned observations from a group of people you've known for a long time and who love and like you.

Now, the reason for this letter is to clearly state our worries and concerns to you in regards to the growing and the metaplot. All we want is a good answer, not you running away or offering flimsy excuses for not ansering. We all know that you're one of the sweetest people on Gaia (look at how long things went with Mikini before you banned her) and we all know how you hate confrontation.

However, there are a large amount of us that feel like you're being taken advantage of. There's no nice way to say it, but it's true. We feel like you're letting Chibi and Noya take control of the shop, and we are unhappy about that. We completely understand why you would need to have people to help. Running a shop is hard work. But you've let them take it over almost completely.

We simply do not see why we can not have certain sins grow when they have been active, and other sins who have not been active are growing before them. Case in point? Akilah. Noya has not posted in her journal since April of last year. So even if she has been RPing her, and not just hanging out on CoH, they shouldn't be counted yet. She has not been active on Gaia at all, and yet both Tayrn and Akilah will grow before anyone else. Same with Chibi, but to a lesser extent. She, at least, is active on Gaia and Rping. But still: from what we understand, she will get Bjofr grown before she does anything with her, because it's important to this metaplot we've been hearing about.

That is not fair. Going through the current teens, ones that have been more active and have been teens longer are being told that they must wait. Mignon has been a teen since February of 2006. Lyrus has been a teen since March of 2006. Sjajan has been a teen since March of 07. All three of these sins, as you should know, have been incredibly active and dedicated in their duties, and to have them shafted in favor of a metaplot that's sounding more and more like a Kilah wankfest is completely and utterly beyond unfair.

One of our main concerns, however, is that when we try to speak up and explain our side, we're told that it won't be discussed without someone else present, or that it's fair. We just obviously don't see their side of it. Indu wasn't given her ability for a quest because she was speaking up about it. Chibi said she wasn't going to give it to her, and didn't until several days later. You guys have never even done that to Arc, and we all complain and b***h about him. That is wrong.

All we want is answers, and we keep getting yelled at or punished because we ask questions and try to get involved like active, caring members should try to do when things seem to be going sour. It's unfair that you expect us to be happy little worker bees, going along and rping our teens for years just because other people have not been active, simply because they are staff. It feels like we're being punished for simply expressing concerns.

Now, another little thing to note about Noya and her abuse of her position. In the sin chat of Sunday, March 9th, Noya made several comments that some of us other members find very disconcerting. She was referring to another shop she 'works' in that "basically control when she grows and not the shop I don't even have to RP her to grow her. If I wanted I could be like--BEAT GROW ONOWAY. And then send it to them. And she would grow." Does that not seem like artist abuse to you? it does to me. She then went on to tell you "If we're not doing that metaplot I need you to redraw Taryn Aylee." No please, no request if you could do it in your spare time, no anything. Just 'AYLEE. REDO TARYN.' This worries us. She is treating you like her personal art slave who bows to her beck and call. Worse yet, you seem to be complying with this.

Now, we do not want to start a fight. We do not want you to drop everything, run, hide, and/or start a fight with the staff. We simply want you to remember that YOU control YOUR own shop and that you should not let yourself be bullied about in this manner. It's wrong of Noya to take advantage of you for this. However, it is also wrong for you to LET her treat you in the manner in which she does. We only ask for fairness. Why is it becoming so hard to get?

We'd like to present you with some numbers we spent hours compiling. None of this was altered in an effort to make anyone look particularly good or bad, and if you take the time to check yourself, you will find the same things we have. Using the guild ALONE [Not including event threads in guild], not AIM RPs or Journal RPs [of which we all have many], here is a basic, yet extremely telling rundown of various activity.

Number of RPs in Guild, total [Least-Most]:
Lorelei: 7
Yukito: 21
Maelon: 21
Lyrus: 23
Ancelin: 28
Akilah: 30
Mignon: 31
Sjajan: 67

Lorelei, the least active has only JUST reached Teen. Kilah's numbers are all in the first 3 pages of the guild, really. Sjajan has at least twice the number of RPs as anyone else. Now, Akilah and Maelon seem to be on par with the others here, and in actuality, Maelon mostly is. However, to delve deeper, we decided to check on the DATES of these RPs. A lot of the older sin'aeis were active at YOUNGER ages, and inactive after hitting teen.

Dates of Last Post by Sin'aeis in their Last 5 RPs: [Least Overall Recent-Most]
Akilah: 3/9/2008, 9/28/2007, 4/13/2007, 3/30/2007, 11/20/2005
Lorelei: 3/9/2008, 3/2/2008, 1/26/2008, 12/24/2007, 4/4/2007
Yukito: 1/25/2008, 1/14/2008, 12/31/2007, 10/15/2007, 9/7/2007
Ancelin: 2/20/2008, 1/26/2008, 12/28/2007, 9/9/2007, 9/7/2007
Lyrus: 3/11/2008, 3/11/2008 2/15/2008, 2/15/2008, 1/10/2008,
Sjajan: 3/11/2008, 2/19/2008, 2/19/2008, 2/18/2008, 1/29/2008
Maelon: 3/9/2008, 3/1/2008, 2/18/2008,2/15/2008, 2/11/2008
Flitch: 3/11/2008, 3/10/2008, 2/17/2008, 2/10/2008, 2/10/2008
Mignon: 3/10/2008, 3/7/2008, 3/7/2008, 2/24/2008, 2/16/2008

As you can see, Akilah, whom it was proposed should grow first, has only done four RPs in this past year. 5 in the past three. Whereas Mignon, the most recently active, has 5 in less than a month. Now, let's take a look at how long they've been teenagers!

Dates of Growth [Most Recent-Least]:
Flitch: February 2008
Lorelei: January 2008
Maelon: September 2007
Ancelin: April 2007
Sjajan: March 2007
Yukito: September 2006
Lyrus: March 2006
Mignon: February 2006
Akilah: January 2006

Now, we wouldn't even consider growing Flitch and Lorelei! Why Maelon? All the other teens are almost a year+.

Finally, we offer to you a growth list for the teens that could feasibly grow. This list is taking into account factors of activity both recent and overall, age of sin'aeis, length in current stage... Basically, everything EXCEPT who's a staff member and who isn't. We all agreed on this list and it's one that would be the most fair to all in the shop.

Teen-Youth Growth List [First-Last]:
1. Mignon: Not only is she the most recently active sin'aeis, she's also been in this stage extremely long. Mignon needs to grow.
2. Sjajan: Arguably the most roleplayed of the sin'aeis, she's also the only teen that hasn't had a massive hiatus and has been recently active.
3. Lyrus: Very old, but not quite as active as Sjajan or Mignon.
4. Ancelin: Recently active and overall active.
5. Yukito: Very old, consistantly active.
6. Maelon: Recently active and by the time it's his turn to grow, he will have been a teenager long enough.
7. Akilah: The only reason being she's extremely old. She hasn't been an active Sin'aeis since before she hit teen. Hopefully, by the time it's her turn, she will have become active once more and earned the growth.
8. Unknown for now.

Aylee... We love you. We love the shop, we love your concept. Why else would so many people spend so many years and so much effort creating and moulding our sin characters? What we want, simply now, is for you to be in complete and total control of YOUR shop. There's no reason in the world why you shouldn't be. You're smart, you're sweet, you're intelligent. Taking the next step, and regaining control of your shop is only a plus on your personality and the future of the Sin thread. We know it's a great shop... it's one of the longest running with so many of it's original owners still active. Please... please please please please don't let it fall into despair by letting unqualified and selfish people make decisions. On that note, don't even let us make decisions... we're not trying to replace Chibi or Noya, rather making suggestions for what we, as a whole, feel would make a great thread epic.

Don't EVER take orders... only suggestions.

You're the only member of the staff to be sent this pm, Aylee. We do not mind Chibi or Noya reading this letter because we are not on the attack, nor are we trying to start staff fights. We leave it up to you to choose whether or not they get to see it. Your perogative.

First of all, thank you for not posting that in the Sin'aeis guild, I appreciate that. No, really.

Let me preface my answer to all of this with something: I did NOT log offline because I was running away. I logged off because I was extremely pissed off at you guys for deciding you just HAD to talk about it AT THAT MOMENT, even though I had already said I wasn't up for talking about it. I've had a really rough March, and you decided to bring this issue to me on TUESDAY, when my goddamned dog had been taken away from me on SUNDAY. Do you guys think you could have been ANY LESS TACTFUL? I mean, REALLY? I'm still rather pissed off that you blatantly ignored my wishes, even. I told you straight out that I didn't want to discuss it, but you ignored that. I was NOT in the mood. That morning, before I talked to you guys? I hadn't gone to sleep until 8 in the morning because I'd been crying over my dog. YOU GUYS CHOSE THE WRONG TIME. Any other time I might have sat there and answered, but not then. I told you I wasn't up for it, and you ignored me.

Another reason was because I do not like chats for things like this. Had each of you IMed me INDIVIDUALLY about this, I probably wouldn't have had a problem answering. No, really. But chats worry me and make me feel like at the end of it I'm not going to have ANY CHOICE but to give the people what they want. The larger the chat, the more I think this is going to happen. Especially when everyone is against me. That's why I never get into chat arguments unless either it's something stupid (aka any argument with Wotcher) or I have someone to back me up. Because you're right, I'm too subjective to other people's opinions and demands. That chat? Worse than ANYTHING Noya and Chibi could have asked of me. Because there's two of them, and six of you (more in chats, usually). And I already KNOW that my word is over theirs. With you guys? Not so much, because you're not staff, and I don't want to make you angry.

You say they've been ganging up on me, well they haven't. I rarely talk to Noya anymore, and Chibi never demands anything from me, just suggests them. And I end up vetoing her ideas probably 25-50% of the time, but since they're private IMs you guys never see that. But usually her ideas are good.

Seriously, you guys think I don't veto them, but I do. A lot. Especially Noya, actually. That's why the Metaplot didn't get anywhere sooner than it has, because Noya and I couldn't agree on a plot. I kept vetoing her suggestions (cause they didn't work with the overall plot), and she thought mine were lame. Finally I decided I'd just come up with the plot on my own and if Noya didn't agree with it, well, tough really. Though now with everyone bitching about it, I've been considering just scrapping the MP altogether, because it really doesn't seem like anyone CARES whether I do one or not. I was really interested in it (in fact, I'm the one who wanted to do one, not Noya or Chibi), but obviously I'm the only one. Why should I bother, if no one is going to be interested in it? I mean, really?

Anyway, on to the stupid growth stuff. You guys seem to think that they're pushing me around, but they're NOT. The reason Bjofr and Taryn were going to grow without any RP IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO THE MP. They could NOT have RPed them prior without giving major MP things away. It would have been completely impossible. Now, why you're not jumping down MY throat for wanting to grow Ciaran without RP confuses me, because he's not linked to any MP at all. He's just THERE, and I figured 'hey, if Bjofr and Taryn are growing, maybe I should grow Ciaran, too!' Because, well, I'm ME. I may be shop owner, but I've already made it clear that I intend to constrain myself to the same RP requirements with him as with all the other Sin.

But as to the teen thing, I've made it clear to at least three people (two of whom were Chibi and Noya, but I KNOW there was one outside person, I don't remember who), that I DON'T CARE who grows first. AT ALL. Seriously, it doesn't matter to me. I told people this after the LAST time this argument came up, and it still stands. I DON'T CARE. I think ALL Teens are ready to grow, but guess what? I wasn't PLANNING on growing them for a much longer period of time, until we had more Teens and Kids. You can actually THANK Chibi and Noya for getting me to do them sooner. HONESTLY. I DON'T CARE WHO GROWS WHEN. I give Noya and Chibi preferential treatment because they are STAFF. Seriously, I don't know of any shops that I've been in that don't give their staff members special treatment. No, Chibi and Noya may not have started out as staff, but they still ARE, even if Noya spends most of her time in CoH these days. Chibi does a LOT of work for this shop, but you guys seem to be ignoring her. She does ALL of the quests (I just approve them, and occasionally help think of abilities), and inks and colors all of the art. THAT IS A LOT OF WORK. I'm actually surprised she hasn't gotten sick of it yet.

You guys say that Noya is demanding, but do you guys think you're any different? Do you know how many times over the last few weeks I've been told 'Oh hey, Aylee draw 'Sin' now, because we'll be done with the requirements in an instant!' I don't listen to NOYA on this, either. I draw when I have inspiration, not on command. That's why some Sin get drawn before others who don't need it as much. Nihilo is case in point.

I mean, really, had we NOT been doing the MP and Noya wanted me to redraw Taryn, I would have complied (because her image was/is MP-related), but I would have done it in my own time, and not before I had done the other art I owed. You're really assuming WAY too much here. I DON'T draw at beck and call, and if I do it usually turns out really crappy, unless I'm amazingly inspired.

As for Chibi not giving Indu that ability? I don't remember the part about her not getting one because Chibi refused, but I do remember there was a time that we didn't give her one for like a week after she did the quest because we threw out the ability we'd come up with prior because it was LAME, and we didn't want to give her a lame ability. But we were having trouble thinking of anything else. Seriously, you have NO idea how hard it is to come up with abilities for some of these jobs, and Farmer is among the worst. But we sat there for DAYS trying to come up with something better, and finally came up with the weather one. I don't remember any other instance of Chibi not posting an ability immediately, but you all know my memory sucks terribly.

Seriously, if you have a problem with Kilah and Mae growing, take it up with Chibi and Noya. Cause I don't CARE who grows first. And if I don't care, I'm obviously going to side with my staff on this because they're my STAFF. They help me out with more than anyone else, and therefore get preferential treatment in my eyes. You may not agree with this, but that's the way I see it. If you have issues with their Sin growing, TAKE IT UP WITH THEM.

Again. I DON'T CARE WHO GROWS WHEN. I REALLY DON'T.

I wanted the MP to come before anything else, but that was just me, not them. Don't blame THEM for that. One of them suggested that why don't the teens grow WITH the MP as well, and I was 'Okay, sure, I DON'T CARE'. Are we seeing a trend here?

I mean, really. IT DOES NOT MATTER TO ME. I don't think I can stress this enough. I seriously have no preference as to who grows when. Take it up with them, not me. I. DON'T. CARE.

I was going to say 'And don't gang up on them', but then I realized that's a stupid thing to say, because, unlike me, Chibi and Noya know how to defend themselves and hold good arguments. I don't, which is why I don't get into them without someone to back me up. I fail as a debater. (Why does that word, 'debater', hold such a negative connotation with me? I think it must sound too close to 'decider'. Ghh.)

I'll be online sometime in the next three days, most likely. I work tomorrow and Saturday, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have those days or how calm I'll be (yes, I'm still pissed off), but we'll see. I'll definitely be on Sunday, barring death or something. But hey, Jeane knows my phone number. 8D

(P.S.: Also, next time, PM the shop mule. XD When I'm avoiding Gaia, I don't log into my main account. I never would have known about this were it not for Jeane calling me, today.)

...

Looking at this in Preview, holy CRAP is it long, and probably really disjointed and rambly. Yay me! *bricked* DX I'mmna go do my laundry now, before I forget again. With my luck I work an open shift tomorrow. Bah. *should check that*
