I don't think that anime could be banned, considering how big of a fanbase there is. But with pirating and fan subbing sites becoming ever the more popular, and the anime companies not getting any profit, their companies are pulling out of the US.
To be honest, as much as the fan subbers help out, it makes me a little sad because I want to work in the business of dubbing animes and things like that, so if the anime companies disappear, then I won't be able to do what I want to do most. That's just my opinion ^^;

they cant do that! can they? i mean theres a lot of people who really love it.it would crush all of those haerd-core anime lovers.(my bff for example)

That is indeed true. So banning anime won't really be possible. Plus there are anime conventions all over the world so it'll be hard to get rid of.
