 He's been stuck in that house for awhile now. Okay.. so not really stuck, but until recently, Edward did have a family to raise. He'd been giving lessons to his kits every day since they'd been old enough, and well... he needed a break. They were all grown up now and starting to do their own thing. While things were a little lonelier without kits playing around on the floor, it was nice to have some quiet again too. Edward had been getting restless and so after a morning of sparring with Zell, he decided to take a hike to the Realm's HQ. Hanging out with his brother wasn't a bad idea either.
He walked the entire way, as his wings were essentially useless with the unnatural weight that his automail added. He certainly didn't mind though, for it reminded him of times long past spent traveling. Granted most of it was by train, but there were times that they had to travel on foot as well. They had to survive on their own out in the wilderness as well.
It took some hours, but he eventually arrived at the frontsteps of the HQ, a place he knew all too well. This was where he had grown up in this world, after all. Entering in the front door, Ed paused to stretch his stiff muscles which were not use to traveling long distances so much anymore. "Hey Alphonse, you around?!" he called out, trotting through the halls and glancing in the usual rooms that he would typicly find his brother, frowning when he had no apparent luck. Huh... now where could he be?

 It was getting onwards in the day and Vash still hadn't rummaged up some lunch. He'd been hoping that Priest was around to stick to his word but it seemed Wolfwood had skipped the HQ for a time. With a frown, he wandered about the building, looking for someone to talk to or something to do. Pool wasn't very fun on your own and he'd already heard most of the jukebox songs.
Fluttering his wings, he pondered practicing flying... he should probably get better in case any contests came up. He didn't like having debts. Or at least, not deliberately having debts. With a grin, he trotted forward, intent on pillaging the kitchen before heading out into the yard. As he moved, he heard someone call out and ears perked forward. Not recognizing the voice, he sauntered towards it, and poked his head out from behind a corner.
"Hello?" He pursed his lips, "I don't know if there's an Alphonse around... doesn't ring a bell..." Coming all the way around the corner, he waved at Edward, "What do they look like?" His manner was cheerful and friendly as he stood there, ears perked and tails swishing idly back and forth.

Edward blinked and looked... up... as he heard a voice. His innerself twitching at the sight of the tall guy, but it was pushed down for now. Blonde hair... red coat... heh... how coincidental. "Nice look.. and I always thought I was being original." A bit of a sheepish grin appearing on Edward's face. Granted there were key differences in their appearances, but still, they looked awfully similar.
"Alphonse is my brother, so.. actually he looks a lot like me but with brown hair and eyes." He then rolled his shoulders and sat with a sigh, "Aw well.. guess I'll just catch up with him later." He looked curiously back to the red coated stranger, "I'm Edward Elric by the way, nice to meet you."
It was then that Edward's stomach decided to protest with a loud growl. Ugh! The alchemist looked a bit embarassed as he he covered his abdomen with his paws. Guess Ed's a bit hungry himself. After all that walking though, its no wonder!

"Eh?" He blinked, glancing down at his own attire, "Why is everyone always making fun of my coat!? I like it! So what if it's a little ragged around the edges?" He swept the ends closer to him and pawed them self-conciously with a semi-pout on his face. "I'd rather not get shot, thanks...."
"People call me Vash the Stampeded though I really prefer Vash." He looked up with a brilliant smile, "Great to meet you!~" When Edward's stomach growled, he laughed and shook his head, "Late lunch for you too? Like donuts? I was just about to see if I could some."

Edward laughed at the other's protest. He wasn't really trying to make fun of him, but even so it was certainly amusing! Although, Edward would rather not get shot either! He did know a certain Lieutenant who was an excellent marksman ... er.. woman.. whatever.
A sweatdrop and a sheepish grin was followed by the growling of his stomach, "Aheh... yeah." Ears perked, "Doughnuts? Sure." He could deal with almost any sort of food... except milk that is.

"Great!" He bobbed his head and turned in a swish of coat tails, "Let's go then~ What're you doing here, by the way? I haven't seen you around before. Where're your parents?" He tilted his head, mistaking Ed's small stature for being a teen, "They send you looking for your brother?"

Edward was starting to follow when Vash's comment caused him to stop dead in his tracks, various veins popping out of his head. "WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! I'M SO SHORT YOU CAN'T SEE WITHOUT A MAGNIFYING GLASS?! I'M AN ADULT YOU NEEDLE HEADED FREAK!" Edward screaming at the top of his lungs while his face was darkened in a most angered expression! OH how he hated short comments, even if they were by accident!

Squawking, Vash spun about at that, looking rather panicked, "I- I- I-!" What did he do!? "I never said that! You said that!" Mortified at the reaction his inquiry had gotten, Vash backed up, seriously considering simply just running, "I can see you perfectly fine! Calm down! I never called you short!"
Vash blinked as the other's face darkened, "... How are you doing that?" He peered at Edward, "Your face!" He immitated it rather poorly, "Are you alright? Should I get a doctor?" Sweeping gaze from left to right, he wondered if there was a such thing here - he had yet to meet one.

"You were implying it!" Edward shrieked back, sitting back and clenching both fists.. his expression still remaining. Edward leaned back as he was peered at, the expression suddenly vanishing to be replaced by an odd look. He facepalmed with his left paw, letting out an exasperated sigh. "I think this guy is short a few marbles" he muttered to himself. He then crossed his forepaws and scowled at Vash, still offended at being mistaken for a teenager. Puh. He was a father of four thank you very much!

"I've never seen you before! How would I overlook you if this was the first time I've met you!?" Vash frowned deeply, totally confused. When Ed put a paw to forehead, he sighed and shook his head, "I've been told that before, you know. But I don't have any marbles. Maybe some of the kids have some. It's a fun game." He nodded, grinning widely and turned once more, though he kept looking nervously back over his shoulder.
"You're not going to explode again.... are you?" He asked tentatively, as they arrived at the kitchen, "You're scary like that..." Pursing his lips, he moved into the room and started rooting around for his favourite food. Whoever came up with them had been a genius as far as he was concerned.

Edward looked off to the side while idly scratching his chin with a single claw as Vash went on about the marbles, "Yeah well, that does explain a few things" he remarked. Truely this guy was an idiot or something. Ah well. His gaze then slid back over to Vash and frowned at the question, "That all depends, don't call me short and we're good." Yes, very straight forward.
Standing up fully again, he resumed following Vash to the kitchen and proceed to root around himself, but let out a sigh of dispare. "Aw man... the pickings are rather slim today." The fridge door propped open as he had to stand on the tippy toes of his boots to see in, paws braced on a shelf. He glared sidelong at a carton of milk. Grr. Damn cow juice.

Vash made a mental note to avoid saying anything that insinuated that the other was short. At least he was nice enough without the five letter word being uttered. Nodding to himself, Vash padded up behind Edward and looked into the fridge. Milk... some veggies... something he didn't recognize... puffing out his cheeks, he swiped the carton of milk and gestured to the donuts he'd found. They could converse over donuts and milk, perhaps.
"Really? There's a lot if you look." Smiling, he gestured at the half dozen or so donuts he'd found from a few open packages and a stack of crackers. For someone who was used to traveling with little to no supplies, this kitchen never seemed to run out of stock, "You from around here or are you stuck too?" A casual question as Edward's clothing marked him as different from the others.

Edward would eat almost anything, with a few exceptions, if he was hungry enough. But well.. why eat veggies when you could possibly find something else? He was a meat and potatoes kind of guy really, or perhaps he was just spoiled from all the awesome cooking back at the house. He almost drooled at the thought of Ginny's stew.
However, as Vash snatched the milk, Edward peered at him suspiciously, as if the milk was some sort of contraband. Just what was he planning to do with that? Shutting the fridged, Ed wandered over and sat... huh... doughnuts. Golden eyes blinked once and ears lifted at the question. It took him a moment for him to realize the exact meaning of the words and he smiled faintly. "Well... I was born here, if that's what you mean. But.. I did come from another place" he admitted. Most who had 'befores' often arrived as adults. He was unique in that perspective. Reaching out with his right paw, Ed's sleeve pulled back slightly, revealing the glinting metal of his arm as he plucked a doughnut and stuck half of it in his mouth. Mmm.. yummy.

"Oooh." He nodded as though that made perfect sense even though it really didn't. He hadn't been here long enough to develop a sense of the ebb and flow of souls, as it were. Vash had yet to figure out what exactly had bumped him into this world - he only knew that it had something to do with his twin.
"What's it like? My home's so much drier then here, a vast desert some would call desolate." He smiled as memories of the past came to mind. He blinked at the flash of metal. How interesting! Vash flexed his left arm absently, as though that had reminded him of his own missing limb. It was surprising to see another who had such augments though... and with how often he tended to destroy his, it might be worthy and inquiry. "Edward... your arm... is there a mechanic here? I've been looking for one - I might need their services at some point in time." He smiled once more.

Yeah well, it didn't really make much sense to him either.. but here he was! It took him awhile to get back his memories... and after he did, he was already use to the place, even if he did still yearn to go back home. He certainly missed it.. but... he wasn't lonely anymore. Plus his brother was here now as well.
Edward looked up, half a doughnut sticking out of his mouth as came out of his own reverie. Eventually swallowing the whole of the pastry, he hummed lightly, "Well I came from a small town called Risembool... peaceful.. quiet, just a normal country town really." Nothing special about it. He could go into more detail about his world, but well.. no sense in telling his life story. They just met after all.
This question about his arm caused him to look down at it before looking back up, "Yeah... her name's Winry. Best automail mechanic I know." Not to mention the only one in this place. She's been hard to track down lately though... he needed some work done too. Not that he missed getting clobbered with her wrenches though, heh. Why was he asking anyway? A brow quirking in silent askance.
