Neuf has acquired himself a camp stove and a chuck bag to carry an entire kitchen around it.
So this is what I can fit in the bag...
1 burner/grill camp stove 4 cans of fuel 4 nesting camp pots inside a pressure cooker 2 small cast iron pans 1 percolator 1 creamer (smallest camp pot = sugar bowl) 1 ladle 1 serving spoon 1 large towel 1 kitchen sink (no really)
I'm going to get some cutting boards and a decent chef's knife and then I think I will have everything for a working kitchen.
So that takes care of food prep kosher style, for about four people and four days, depending on how people like chili and rice.
Although the stove is new, it will not be glat kosher very long, I have several camping trips ahead this year.
So I have kitchen and will travel.

How nifty! That will come in handy while you camp...We never have everything we need. Last time we went camping we brought a stove, pots, and soup, but no bowls. We had to eat out of the pots. That's what you get when you let a man pack, though.
And a stove can be glat kosher? I thought that only had to do with lungs of animals.

Lets say I make corn chowder on the camp stove. A good vegetarian dish with milk in it. the pot, the pan and the stove top are rendered "MILK USE ONLY" next day pan fry a steak. Stove top is now Treif. Since I can't afford 2 stoves... I give it about... a weekend of cooking on it, before it's rendered "unkosher"

Unused, brand new pots are parve, but they still aren't kosher. Have you immersed them in a keilim (vessel) mikvah?

kingpinsqeezels Ah, I get it now. I take it you aren't staunchly kosher? I'm not, Divash is. Granted I appreciate the concept of kosher, the no pork, no shellfish, no milk and meat on the same plate. But I do not have the mental affinity or a**l retention to practice Glat Kosher. Which is, why previously stated in a separate thread, Divash will most likely never eat anything that comes out of my kitchen.

Oh goodness! I try really hard. I said I would start with one thing, and then when I accomplished not eating it for awhile, I would move on to something else. I haven't had pork in forever, so now I'm thinking shellfish next. It's sad...I'll miss crab legs.
I'm super excited to have my own kosher kitchen though. The prospect of moving out here soon is enough to make me forget about crab legs and cheezburgers all together. : )

Heh- I guess it's easier to keep kosher if you always have. I don't miss cheeseburgers because I've never had them, but gosh, I miss clam chowder. Had it once when I was little and didn't realize it, and I've always wanted it since then,

I love shellfish. I grew up on sea food: lobster, clam chowder, crab legs, shrimp cocktail, etc etc. I absolutely love the stuff. And I've been shellfish free for the last three months. I haven't eaten pork for years at this point, and shellfish will eventually be the same.
But G-d knows I love shellfish, and I miss it already. I've had to tell my family, "I appreciate that you got me clam chowder, but I can't eat it anymore" despite the temptation to say, "Okay, this'll be the last time".
Like Neuf, I don't follow too strictly. I do have seperate dishes for my kosher food, but I don't have seperate cooking things (pots and pans) yet.

I think you're probably right...but it's certainly do-able. It just takes discipline, which I'm interested to see if I have.

My parents love this restaurant called the Whole Hog Cafe...What doesn't have hog in it? Pulled chicken! It's delicious...but naturally my family thinks I'm weird.
