I don't play the trumpet but this applies to all wind instruments. Do you have proper breath support? You want to be pushing with your stomach while you play. Keep that support going through. You want that column of air as energized as possible. Longtones would probably help as well.

it worked with me so try to curl in your lips and open up some more so just try to buzz more than you blow; you can play with out air, air just improves the tone

Well here are some tips: practice some things like slurs and holding out just the same note as long as possible and trying to get back the good tone. Like what was said above, push from you stomach or diaphram (its hard, I'm still figuring it out) and blow faster and more air. Also make sure your valves, slides and everything else on the trumpet it working and ask your band director or private lesson teacher for help.
I think I about said everything that wasn't said. Good luck fellow trumpet smile

First of like they said improper breathing will cause an airy sound but there are so many more with brass instruments. You may be bitting down without realizing it, try having someone push the end of a pencil to you're cheek so that it's holding the space between you're teeth. Maybe, your throut isn't open enough. Try singing some low tones loud.. that helps you to feel how open you're throut should be all the time. And also check to make sure the edges of you're lips are tight, because if they aren't then air will escape through the sides of you're lips not allowing enought air to get through your horn. And if all else fails it may be a care concern, clean out your horn, maybe it's time for you're trumpet to get a chemical bath. If you don't know what that is, it's when they take you're horn and dip it in a chemical that gets rid of all the junk you can't get rid of with normal cleaning.
I hope I helped you a little.. if there is anything you don't understand PM me, or if you ever have any other questions.
