It was the perfect day to go shopping for produce, or so Crystal had said. It had been a rainy week, and it was the first clear day; the marketplace was bustling with antique and fresh wares alike, eager to strike a deal to make some money for the time lost. It was days like these that the flower girl and her charge liked to partake in the buying and bartering, enjoying the cool but clear sky and the clean scent of the marketplace: produce, trade goods, wood, wheat, spices and just about anything else you could think of in passing.

Kaoru, however, and caught scent of something not so standard in the marketplace. It was a familiar scent, a sweet one, and thus one that the child wanted to find. Crystal didn't mind letting the Scent run free in the marketplace, for it wasn't so large that she couldn't find the pomegranate child again. Donning a gown of dark crimson with a charcol jacket and a charm bracelet, Kaoru set out to find the owner of this mysterious, cinnamony smell of sugar and sweetness.

Meanwhile, the churro-scented child was wandering the market with his father when he caught sight of a man selling some particularly yummy-looking candy. Carwyn groaned, but he soon realized there was no way to get his son away from the candy, and handed his son some change. "Use it wisely, Celyn. Don't go anywhere. I need to buy some groceries, and I'll be right back, okay?" It probably wasn't the smartest thing in the world to trust his little boy, but he did trust the candy vendor whom he had become friends with these last few months.

Celyn nodded eagerly, letting his father go off on his way. Then, Celyn squealed as he began to look at and inspect all of the delicious candies. He wanted a candy cane, and maybe one of those rainbow lollipops, or perhaps some of those really good chocolates with peanut better all inside, or one of the candies with peanut butter on the outside and chocolate on the inside... The choices were endless! For such a sweet little boy, this was paradise.

The child snaked through the crowds, crimson eyes wide and searching, dainty nose lifted to the air. Kaoru had ruled out the possibility of the scent merely being traced to a memory; it was distinct and sweet, much like the Scent's own kind. The smell was lost a little, prompting the pomegranate child to pout. Something was overpowering the scent, and there wasn't much that could put cinnamon to shame...

Kaoru snapped forefinger and thumb, darting off suddenly towards the baked goods and sweet section. The only way that smell would be lost is in its element, and this stood to reason, right? If that was true, then it could only be--

THERE! The Scent recognized the off creme and brown hair, and as the child approached, the unmistakeable smell of churros only confirmed previous thoughts. "Hey! You're...Celyn, right?" Kaoru had only met the boy once, and in passing at that. It was entirely possible that the child misheard the name all together, but Kaoru had a memory worth mentioning.

Celyn picked up a candy cane and looked around deviously before shoving it in the back pocket of his shirt. It was just then when he heard someone call his name. The poor boy jumped, swirling around and attempting to look as innocent as possible. Oh, good. It was only another scented child. This one smelled like some kind of healthy food. ...Oh, this was Kaoru! Celyn remembered meeting them in passing, though it didn't really last.

"Yeah, I'm Celyn. Aren't you Kaoru?" Comfortable again, the sweet and seemingly innocent boy offered his hand to Kaoru as if he was reintroducing himself to them. "I think I've seen you before." The only place he could really remember seeing anyone was at that party a while back. He had probably met them there, then. "At that party thing, right? That was fun."

Well, it was minimally fun. Celyn didn't meet much of anybody, nor did he spend a lot of time with those new people he met. Well, perhaps this conversation would go a bit better than some of the ones he had at that party.

The child glowed visibly at being remembered. "Yep, that's me! You can call me Kay if you want." Kaoru extended a dainty hand to shake the dark skinned boy's, smiling pleasantly. Giving a nod of bobbing curls, the Scent confirmed, "The party at Solace Scents. It was nice to meet everyone, that's for sure! We didn't get to talk much, but I wouldn't forget your scent." Kaoru beamed at Celyn, enjoying the scent of flaky baked cinnamon now that the source was found.

"So what're you doing here?" Crimson eyes flicked momentarily towards the booth that the boy stood in front of. "Candy?" Kaoru's tone was decidedly neutral, though that delicate expression was one of disinterest. It wasn't that the child wasn't fond of sweets, it was just that the pomegranate Scent preferred things with less sugar and more substance. Like pastries!
PostPosted: Sun Apr 06, 2008 6:39 am

(( So sorry I took so long. >< I'll try to make sure this doesn't happen again. ))

Celyn nodded. "Okay, Kay! I'd give you a short of my name, but there really isn't one." With a cheerful giggle, he took Kaoru's hand and gave it the firm handshake his father taught him to do. When she remarked that she wouldn't forget his scent, Celyn only blushed shyly. "I won't forget yours either," offered the churro-scented little boy. That was the right thing to say, right? He hoped so. He didn't want to scare Kaoru off or anything like that.

When she asked about why he was there and asked about candy, Celyn nodded eagerly. "Candy!" confirmed Celyn. The little boy actually liked anything sweet. It may have had something to do with his somewhat sugary nature, but he enjoyed candy, chocolate, pastries, doughnuts, and anything else that contained sugar. He did have a special affinity for churros, but that was for obvious reasons and there were unfortunately no churros there. Candy was a fine alternative for him. "Do you like candy?" It was hard to tell. Celyn was able to determine that she didn't look quite as happy after the mention of the candies, but he lacked a lot of people skills and wasn't really able to tell what that meant.

((It's okay! Life happens! n_n You can post whenever you have time~ <3))

Kaoru uttered a girlish giggle at the compliment. Not that the child expected Celyn to remember anything about the pomegranate Scent, but it was a nice thought all the same. No one had said anything like that before, and it gave the delicate child a boost of confidence that was sorely needed.

"Candy?" The child glanced to the cart as though it were already forgotten. "Oh! I don't dislike it, but I like bakery things better," came the matter-of-fact reply. "The apple tarts and cinnamon rolls and boysenberry pies...mmm, it's too bad there's no bakery on wheels, huh?" Kaoru beamed, mouth watering at just the mention of the sweets. The statement was only a partial truth about the bakery on wheels, as the Scent was certain that Crystal's baking skills would surely put any other place to shame. A child always favors their parents, that was for certain in this case.

Curly hair bobbed and slid over small shoulders as Kaoru glanced around, as if looking for something. "They have some really tasty candied apples too, if you like that type of thing. I love this market! They have all types of good things." And good things to get into with the right type of company. Kaoru wasn't a trouble maker by nature, but a child is still a child. Trouble could always be found.

Celyn wasn't much of a trouble maker, but it seemed that Celyn wasn't very social at the moment either. Perhaps if he was with the right person, he could be just as troublesome as the next child. Carwyn would fail to approve, but this had little to do with him... "Candied apples?" Just like that, Celyn forgot about his mission to get as many candies as possible. He loved anything sweet. Candied apples sounded especially sweet, though admittedly, he had never tried one before. "I've never had a candied apple!"

Though he seemed a little subdued at first, the idea of a new sweet seemed to bring new energy into Celyn's eyes. He stuck a piece of candy in his mouth and sucked on it as he glanced around for a place to get these elusive candied apples. "Can we get some? They sound good! I want one!" The churro-scented boy was certainly one for sweets. He could easily go from one candy to another pastry if the opportunity was offered.

Kaoru's face lit with childish glee. The Scent reached out a delicate hand to take the boy's own, giving a gentle tug, "This way! It's not far, and it smells really good!" If it wasn't blatantly obvious by now, Kaoru was quite enamoured with smells of all types; the child's interest in a thing often depended on how it affected one's senses. Perhaps it was because the child's own pomegranate scent was somewhat muted in comparison to others, but Kaoru certainly knew how to appreciate such fine things.

And so the curly-haired child lead the churro boy through the marketplace, weaving through people like water around rocks, careful not to bump into anyone all the while. It was only after a minute or two of movement that Kaoru came to a halt in the food court, pointing towards a vendor with several apples hanging on display. "There he is," the Scent proclaimed proudly. "Let's see if he's giving away samples!"

The child released Celyn's hand and skipped to the cart, waving to the vendor. There were many candied apples on display, from the standard shiny red coats to caramel, chocolate to butterscotch, and everything inbetween dipped in just about any topping one could imagine.

Celyn happily trotted after the eager Kaoru. Admittedly, he liked having someone who would grab his hand and pull him around. It made him feel like someone his age enjoyed his presence. Though tugging may be interpreted as rude to some, he actually enjoyed it. It might have been his calmer nature. "Okay! I sure hope he's giving away free samples. That'd be fantastic! Then I'd get to try one!"

When Celyn got excited, like most people, he had a tendency to talk fast and say a bit too much at once. He waved to the vendor as well before creeping closer to get a better look at these candied apples Kaoru spoke of. There were shiny ones, and carmel ones, and butterscotch ones, and chocolate ones... Ooh! The young boy's eyes danced eagerly. Celyn certainly had a sweet tooth on him. He could already almost taste the apples.

Kaoru bounced up to the cart, chattering away at the vendor, who seemed to recognize the child. After a bit, the man handed down two bowls to the Scent, who excitedly turned to Celyn and offered him one. It would appear that one of each type of apple slice had been placed within in a circular motion, so that they would not touch each other.

"Mom and I come here every week," the child proclaimed proudly. "Most of the vendors know us, and they're super nice. Oh, that one is really good!" Kaoru pointed a slender finger towards a red apple glazed in caramel and cinammon, before nursing the child's own bowl between dainty hands. "Is there anything else you like? Maybe we can go to the float stand or go dance!"

Kaoru didn't mind taking charge, and did so with glee, happy to have company. Celyn was a delightful smelling companion, and so long as they enjoyed things that were agreeable, the afternoon was promising to be great!

(( Wow, sorry, that took five years. Replying now. ))

"Apples!" It seemed that Celyn completely tuned her out as he turned his attention to the food in front of him. He eagerly grabbed an apple slice and wrapped his lips around it, biting his teeth into the caramel apple. "Mm~." It was a bit odd that a child could make such an oddly delighted sound. What came out of his lips sounded more akin to a moan of pleasure than a childish "Mm!" ...Of course, that failed to affect Celyn. Instead, he kept eating the caramel apple.

It took him a minute or so before he lifted his eyes to Kaoru and realized that the child was still talking with him. Oh, right. After finishing the caramel apple slice and moving to try one with a red candy sauce on it, he replied to Kaoru. "This stuff is really yummy! Let's get some more food." Perhaps it was his naturally sweet nature that gave him his sweet tooth, or he was just excited that he had found something in common with someone and so was abusing that. Whatever it was, he could hardly wait to get more candies.

"Let's finish these yummy apples first, though. Unless the other vendors are a walk from here..." Another delighted sound escaped his lips as he bit down on another apple slice.

(( My turn to take a few years. 8D ))

Dainty hands covered the child's mouth, unable to stem the giggling. Celwyn was downright cute when he was eating! "There's a lot of food vendors in this area," Kaoru agreed, "but not all of them are sweets. Like...like those meet things on sticks." The Scent crinkled that pert nose, obviously not favoring the item in question. "There's cheese on sticks, and some type of toasted waffle place. A bunch! And there's drink vendors, too.

There's some float place further down...you know, those drink float things.
" Kaoru made a waving motion, as if that would describe the point of interest completely. Slender shoulders shrugged indifferently, picking up an apple with a sugar-esque glaze on it. "What else do you like to eat, other than sweets?"
PostPosted: Tue May 27, 2008 6:45 pm

(( w00t, we're even. xD ))

Celyn heard Kaoru's giggling and couldn't help a small grin as he continued to eat his sweet, delicious apple slices. He nodded to her list of foods to eat as he continued to make delighted noises about the food he was eating. His eyes danced as she talked of different foods. Celyn was a lover of foods, though he had to admit that sweet things were by far his favorite category. "We should go to those other places! Floats sound really good; I haven't tried one of those before."

Admittedly, he wasn't at all thinking that his father may be irritated to find that Celyn had wandered off. Ah well. "What else? Well, I like all sorts of foods! I like candies and sweets and ice cream and..." He giggled. "I suppose you want regular foods, too. Well, I enjoy making meaty omelettes." With a grin, Celyn picked up another apple slice and bit into it. The "Mm..." of delight escaped his lips once again as he tried another apple with a cherry sauce coated on top. Once getting over his delight, he offered, "I also like macaroni and spaghettis! And lots of other stuff! You?"

Kaoru couldn't help it; the child enjoyed watching Celyn enjoy his food so much, it seemed a crime not to share the apples. The Scent wasn't big on sweets anyway, so it was no loss to hand over the apple samples in the child's own possession. Offering the bowl to Celwyn while nibbling, Kaoru nodded, "Okay! This way please!" Another clutch of giggles escaped the small child, heading through the plethora of booths somewhat the way they had come.

The Scent nodded thoughtfully at each item listed, despite Kaoru's lack of interest of heavy meats. "Homemade pastries," the child repeated, tilting curly head to the side while considering the options. Favorite foods? "There was a really good meat-something Qadir made...I don't really like meat a lot. But mom makes good vegetable lasagna, and pastas. I like fruit salad, dumplings and salads! Like potato and macaroni."

The booth wasn't terribly far, and by the time Kaoru had finished rattling off food stuffs, they were nearly in front of it. "Good thing you like ice cream," Kaoru chirruped, pointing to the booth. Just about every drink in the city was on display next to what appeared to be vats of vanilla ice cream. There were a few other flavors, but it was obvious which was the favorite. "What sounds good to you, Celwyn?"
