I went through most of mid marching season with undiagnosed bronchittis. It sucks really bad to have to focus on marching, playing, holding my baritone correctly AND not coughing my brains out!!
I feel bad for anyone who has had to march sick. And I don't mean "common cold" sick.

Your poll should have an "all of the above" option. 3nodding (Ah, band camp stories...)
I haven't been so sick that I haven't been able to march, but during band camp last year I got really dehydrated and was swaying terribly while marching, until my lieutenant section leader had to bodily drag me off the field, haul me into the band room, and force water down my throat. I'm too dedicated to realize when I'm sick sweatdrop

It might have been because it was so humid because of the flooding we had about a month before band camp started. Weather during band camp is usually more of a dry heat in my part of the country.

Ugh, not mine. It was SO humid this past season... it felt like marching in bathroom after a hot shower! Which is odd beacuse we diden't have much rain last summer... it just felt really sticky outside.

I have a friend who has, for every year she's been in it, done the St. Patrick's Day Parade sick. This include three years of marching it ... and some years when she was a kid in cheerleading of cheering ... down it.
I, thus far, have not had to march sick.

One time I strained my wrist an hour before I had to march. I couldn't play, and my arm just kind of dangled on my sax. =P I remember I needed help putting on all of my uniform parts....

I know! I had Shingles (when you get Chicken Pox more than once) my senior year in high school. The virus attacks the spinal cord at the top of the neck and I basically couldn't move my head much at all without a lot of pain, plus there was a fever for the first two weeks and general body pain and feeling icky for ages. I still marched though. That's probably why it took twice as long to get over as it should have. Apparently expending large amounts of energy moving around a parking lot on cold, wet, winter nights is not a good way to recover.

I'm glad our uniforms are black... but marching in that state in general sucks. This dosen't really count as sick but it really sucks when you are a brass player and you get a zit right next to your upper lip.... Agghhhhh.... it hurts. crying

Our uniforms are wool...so it doesn't really matter what color it is; it's too thick to see anything. (unless you're colorguard...) Ah, that does hurt. I doubled on trumpet for a while (still do occasionally). For reeds, it hurts when you get a splinter in your lip and/or tongue. xp Mmm, blood-flavored reeds...

Oh oh! I got a good one..
During practice, we were doing a run through and there was one particular set where a trumpet decided to hit the back of my head pretty hard and I was fighting to not falter and bawl like a baby... I gave up about a minute afterwards.. :< It really hurt.. but then after sitting out for a second I ran back inside. xd
Oh, and I have a permanently effed up knee, so I always marched with that.. xd
Wasn't necessarily fun... it always ached and hurt... :< Still does..

I agree they should have had an all of the above categories(they don't have sexy drummies for nothing!wink wink). I threw up during a water brake, and my section leader saw, but I kept marching anyway. Then she told my BD, and he told me if I didn't sit out for at least 30 mins, I wouldn't be able to march the first 2 football games. =(. Then a week later, I fell down and retwisted my ankle. My freshy year was awful!!
