With the snow melting away, Neva knew that it was time to finally make her own way without the help of her parents. Her independent nature was begging to be released, so with a bit of sadness as well as happiness the mare bid her parents farewell, as she went out into the world. It was later in the day when the mare paused in her walk and looked about. Such a different area this was, compared to the willow tree she had once called home. During her moment's rest her stomach grumbled loudly, reminding her that she had yet to eat.
"Oh hush, you horrible complainer." Neva muttered as she pawed at the patch of snow. After clearing away some of the snow that covered the grass, the mare lowered her head and started munching on the winter grass. This winter grass tasted wet and was quite cold. She could not wait for the spring grass to come in. Her older brother and sister talked highly of the spring. Whereas her mother always talked of the winter. The mare couldn't help but think that, spring was a much better season. As long as there wasn't any of this white stuff anyways.

Heartless lurked in the darkness of the forest. She really detested the little spots of left over snow on the ground. It was... disgusting. The snow was too white, too pure, too wet. Everything that Heartless disliked. The kalona glanced around at her surroundings and when she moved, she stayed within the boundaries of the shadows of the trees.
She always seemed to stay in the same place... all the time. That's how Ariston always knew how to find her. She never seemed to grow bored of this place. With the occasional wandering soquili, Heartless was always entertained. Sometimes her family would come and visit her but usually she was alone. Truly, Heartless didn't mind. She enjoyed the solitude but she didn't mind the occasional visit.
Blending in completely with the darkness, only Heartless's glowing golden eyes were visible from the darkness. That was enough to scare any soquili away.

As Neva munched on the wet winter grass, she couldn't help but glance over at the forest boundaries. What lay in those dark woods? The purple mare was tempted to go and investigate, but her stomach grumbled once more, reminding her that she hadn't fed it enough yet. "Oh! Will you just hush already!" she grumbled at her insides as she continued to eat the grass. but still watched the forest.
After a while. when her stomach now finally protested no more food. Neva was now thinking about entering the forest walls. As she scanned the the wall of the forest, her eyes caught glimpse of golden orbs that seemed to float. Blinking, she tried to focus on what the orbs were, but they were gone. The mare was quite intrigued by what she had seen, and she made her way to the edge of the forest, plunging into the darkness of the trees.

Out of the corner of her eye, Heartless noticed the bright colored mare. She paid no attention to her. That soquili didn't deserve any attention from Heartless. Nobody did. Heartless began moving away from the edge of the forest but then she noticed that Neva was moving closer to the forest. How strange. Heartless was sure that Neva had seen her eyes. Any sane soquili would try and get away from here as fast as possible...
She stopped and stayed within the shadows. Her body still was invisible to the eyes and her eyes hung there like shining orbs watching everything around her. Stretching her wings slightly, Heartless waited to see if Neva would actually come into the forest. This place was rather haunting and regular soquili usually kept away from here. Though Heartless didn't mind, to her, this was her home.
((I might bring in Keiran, her son, later just to spice things up. 8D))

Neva did continue walking to the forest, not once pausing or turning away. The forest did look dark and vaguely creepy but it was not going to stop her. Plunging headfirst into the darkness she paused as she let her eyes adjust to the light change. Once again she spotted the golden orbs but again they disappeared. What was it? Was it another soquili? Or were they just lightning bugs?
The mare walked confidently toward the direction she thought the golden orbs had come from. Sure it was dark and creepy and she was bound to trip over something as her eyes were not made for the dark but she didn't care. What she wanted to know was what those golden orbs were. "Hello? Is anyone out there?" She called out, her voice confident as she asked. Perhaps there was another out there.
