this is a sad, pathetic excuse for me wanting to make a thread.
and rant.
I mean, seriously.
is algebra going to be of any use in real life? D:
and i mean those 'quadratic equations, inequalities' those those...
'find x,y and z and graph it!'
or those
'if train A leaves the station at 12374982 am and train B leaves i3qwuq4iw minutes after, when/where will they meet?' problems? D<

umm. see i thought i hated math a lot. like, commit suicide if i have to go through one more day of math.
but when i hit grade 11 i was like wow. i actually like math.
what changed? the teacher. it was the teacher's reason i never liked math.
i guess it could also be because my math class is the second period, so i'm really awake. by third i'm dead tired.
ohhh anddd as for algebra, it's my favourite kind of math. i absolutely love pure algebra questions like: 7x-5^3=0 would make me 'gasm. same with sequences and series. geometry is the terrible math.
The graph one you said is more of functions/quadratics. anddd the second one with trains, i've never seen a question like that before in my textbook.

i hate hate hate having to look for x,y and z though Dx
or 12123 more letters D<

3x+12y+7x=2
add another equation here
i hate them.
they take a freakin long time to finish D<

we have two maths this year >>
geom and algeb. next year's trigonometry and calculus.
and i heard the latter's hard. uber hard.

we had that in our grade school years~

why not just give us the equation directly? D<

I understand how you feel v_v
But the good thing is that when you hit year 11 you buy a graphing calculator and type in any math equation and it solves it for you :3 I always sucked at graphing so it was a life saver.
Algebras easy though, you only need to know the rules and you can go through to yr 12 easy. I hated my old math teacher, she must have thought we were all totally stupid, she made us do our times tables in yr 11! I mean come on woman, i knew them in yr 3 >> Then i changed schools and am now the brain 8B
Advice: Buy a graphing calculator (It even has a memory function where you can save questions and answers of all your tests in it >> i wasnt the one that told you though if any one asks...)

That's what I am taking right now. I prefer it over Calculus any day! heh heh. Statistics is interesting though... Kind of.
It isn't as bad as I was originally thinking it would be. It can be tolerated and it helps that the professor is really cool. He is also very awesome at explaining things in a precise and efficient manner.
I certainly won't be sad when this quarter is over though. haha.

we're allowed to use them in seatworks but not tests > 3<

wait till you get calculus...that's the insanest math I know... xp
I graduated with a business degree and there's a lot of math there...I kinda like solving problems and balancing equations and such...but in the real world, we actually use algebra but we don't follow the standard equation but it's algebra none the less like computing for prices and profits and such..unless you're in career that has scientific research in it or you're an engineer which usually requires the use of basic algebra and geometry...
