During the night, Ovian who was now grown up, was walking along a trickling stream under the moonlight. His shadow was cast along the trees and their branches, and the round smooth pebbles at the bottom of the stream shifted, clinking together to make a beautiful sound. Owls hooted from a distance while the other animals slept soundly, waking in the morning to discover new things. Leaves that were scattered along the forest floor made little noise now and twigs no longer snapped. All was quiet during the night. Nothing felt so perfect than this for the male. He was alone in a beautiful part of the forest where Ovian felt at peace. Away from other wolves and chittery squirrels. Now if only he could find a place to sleep. The reddish fur on his legs were wet and slicked. Ovian's dark belly was damp from the tiny splashing drops that came form the stream and the tip of his tail was wet. The green eyes that were given to him scanned the area where he saw nothing but trees and his shadow. Ovian's ears heard nothing but the stream and the shifting of pebbles. What more could he ask for? A home. A place where he could have a loving family but little noise. He would like a mate who understood his wanting for quietness, and a pack where pups were not as rowdy. Everything else besides that he had, in this dark dark time of the forest. [Preferrably a wolf that we can make some plot sort of. Maybe a pack member and/or a potential mate.]

She had lost them. "I lost them!" she wailed to herself, one moment thinking it, then the next saying it out loud as if it were only true if she let the knowledge run over her mentally and verbally.
She walked through the stream. No bothering to sidle to left or right to walk on shore, but straight down the middle. There was no point in comfort at this point for if she didn't find the two males soon... well, the third might find her, and then it would be all over.
It had been forever and a day since the two boys had slipped from the den, possibly while she had been hunting. She had thrown sticks and stones and anything else she could find of considerable weight at the mouth of the den in an attempt to keep the two boys caged, but apparently it hadn't been enough. Now, she ran for her life, in half-search for the boys. There was no love, or at least, she told herself she wasn't attached... but there was that little attachment to her life that she valued at least a little bit.
Or maybe she just didn't want to be tortured before she died.
Sighing, she flopped down momentarily, the cool waters of the stream washing by her, soaking into her belly, legs, and even her face when she lowered her head low enough. The water she let rush into her nostrils caused a powerful sneeze, and the sudden noise where there was none before frightened her back to her feet and moving again.
True, she was looking for the pups (Who by now would be grown adults in the event they had survived), but she was also moving about hoping that the father of those pups would not find her.
She lumbered on, unaware that another wolf was so close by.

Splish splash splish splash. He heard noises. Ovian became alert and he stood still. The sounds were coming behind him. Looking back, Ovian tried to see through the darkness and saw a faint shadow. It was lying in the stream. Was that wolf or animal crazy? It would catch a chill if it slept there all night. Going to help, Ovian went up to the wolf, who he found was a female wolf.
"M'aam?" he inquired, "You alright?"

The big female stifled a scream, turning it into more of a squeek. It took her a minute, but she realized that the wolf before her wasn't one of her "family", in any right.
And he was talking to her.
"What?" she asked dumbly. Sure, she could be cold and calculating when it came to... ok, no she couldn't. She was ruled mostly by anger and fear, and really didn't have the brains to fix either in the correct direction. Hannah hand got all the brains as well as beauty...
Great, now she felt like vomiting.
"I'm not hurt, if that's what you're implying." M'aam. That made her feel so old. She worked her way out of the stream and sidled along to get around the other wolf, staying a safe distance away. Finally she was satisfied with the dry ground she found herself on, and sat down, glancing around to make sure there were no more fur-covered surprises waiting in the shadows.
"Nitika." she offered her name, not bothering to ask his - for she was sure he would give it whether she wanted it or not.

"Oh," he said quietly. Nitika, her name. He looked at the ground, then the stream, then their shadows.
"Where are you going? No one comes here but me often," he said. Ovian sat himself down and his black tail covered his dark red paws. It was quiet, with the stream trickling, but his paws were no longer making further noises. How he longed to get back to his journeying. To find himself a better home than the dismal and eery lone wolf terrictories.

Surprisingly to her, it irked her somewhat when the male wasn't mannered enough to give his own name after she had entrusted him with hers. After all, how did she know he wasn't working in close contact with them.
"Anywhere but where I was." she answered curtly. Getting away from the den, the birthsite, where everything had happened... it all seemed like the best way to go about things. "If I had only stayed in that goody goody pack." she mused aloud, "Damn it to all hells!" She hopped up with that, and began pacing. Now she didn't even know the way back to the pack that her former 'mate' had led her to for safety.
If she had had a bit more patience with the wolf, maybe...
She sighed, and finally whirled to turn on the dark male. "And what about you? Your name? Where are YOU going, where have you come from? Do you have the privilege of a family of your own?", she spat the words out as suddenly a fountain of questions poured forth, and she expected swift answers for all of them.

Blinking, he watched Nitika get all uppity up and angry.
"Calm down," Ovian said, "I'm Ovian and I don't come from anywhere but the lone terrictory strip we're on now. I have no more family that I remember of. I'm alone without a mate or younglings."
He looked into her glaring eyes that were full of anger. What was wrong? He didn't want to ask because Ovian knew he'd get himself in some kind of trouble. Still, the wolf wanted to know.

When he spoke this time, she jumped. It was as if she hadn't heard him speak the last time, and she was just hearing his voice for the first time.
Her ears pinned back, eyes wide in fear. Where was she, again?
"Ovian..." she held the N at the end of his name entirely too long, looking at her paws all the while, taking it in. Lone... no family. Yes, she knew how that... Oh!
"I have two sons." she smiled briefly, shyly. "I'm actually looking for them, is what I'm doing out here." the change in attitude was quick and painless, at least to her. They would be adults.. but not in her mind. "They're just small pups, and I worry for them constantly. They seem to have escaped my watchful eye." She cringed as memories flooded her brain.
Memories of him... "You haven't seen two small pups, have you?" She was nearly pleading now.

Strange, her voice had changed again. What happened to Nitika?
"You have family..you're very lucky," he murmered. When the female asked him of two pups Ovian shooked his head, "Sorry. I didn't see any pups. I saw some shadows ahead of me of two wolves though. That's about it. They were running so I didn't see them from a close view."
