Koi and Liza had decided that they should split up the children for some gender specific education. So, Liza took the Boys and Koi took the girls. So on padded Koi, with Mawu and Kuda behind her. Now that Koi had children-her faith in herself had grown greatly. Now that she and Liza were a mated pair... things were looking up.
She hadn't been more happier. Now, she had daughters and sons. A dark child and a light child. Two ends of the spectrum... but Koi thought it was wonderful. Mawu, strong little Mawu... and Kuda... bright like her father and mother.
Come along dears...

Mawu padded along behind her mother. She felt funky, being the darkest one here... at least when she was with her brothers, Pyke was her color-and she could pick on him better than her sister. She glaced over to Kuda and wondered how she felt... if she was happy.
Mawu certainly wasn't very often. She found that picking on her siblings and out muscling the boys was way more fun than being with Mom and her Sister. Mawu was a tom boy-and when her and their brothers had to seperate-she'd have no one to out muscle... no one to bully... it wasn't fair. She stuck out her lower lip, padded along with grey socked legs.
"We're coming Mommah"

It's a lovely day. Kuda thought as she was laying on her back, watching small amounts of clouds drifting across the blue heavens though the small cracks of the trees surrounding above her. With her bright colors, she was almost too easy to spot though the tall lush grass. She was sure Mawu and her monther could see her, for Kuda was only a few leaps away. She was currently watching as a butterfly flutter slowly over her. Kuda took a playful swat at it, causing it to flutter around the paw and off to a different direction.
She sighed contently as she drop her paw back to it's resting state, her tail swaying lethagically.
Even though her bright colors signify her as superior, like her mother, she was naturally kind. Kuda often watches her sister Mawu with sympathy when it was just the girls but then again that same sympathy goes to the males of the family when Mawu starts to bully but at least she wasn't on the recieving end of it. Don't get her wrong. She is not a push-over or anything. Kuda will stand her grounds and still represent her colors when it's called for.
Kuda's thoughts were interupted when she heard her mother calling, following with Mawu's answer.
She slowly got up from where she was laying and gave her own calling before trotting off towards heading towards her mother's voice, giving Mawu a brief smie as she passes her, wondering what her mother has planned for them.
"Yeah, Mama! We're coming!"

Koi gazed back at her two daughters and grinned. Her soft little Kuda was always seeing bright things around her-smiling at butterflies and such. Such a beautiful blend of the suns colors. It made her happy, that she and Liza had created such beautiful children together. The black twins. The bright siblings. She felt her heart glow.
Her eyes fell onto Mawu. Such a quiet child... she sympathized. Mawu's personality told her that-when they were placed into their appropriate ranks... Mawu would not benefit... but suffer from it. Perhaps... no... she could guess.. that her child would leave the pride.
She slowed down so that she stood over cubs. "I know dears... You two are very good at following Mummy. Since Daddy and the boys are heading off to have some boy time together... and since I have only two little girls... I thought we could do it together!
Since we are all girls.

Mawu rolled her eyes. There was mother with her girly talking... sure... Mawu was a girl. But she didn't dote on it. She didn't really care much... and hearing Mom go on and on about how wonderful they were that they were girls and how much honor it brought them to be girls and such and such. She sighed with her purple eyes looking up at her mother.
"That's what you've said before we left Mommy... since we need to learn girl things and the boys need boy things... and stuff... Right Kuda?!" She asked, looking over at her sister. She blinked.

Kuda tilted her head slightly but acknowledged what Mawu said; her ears twitched away a flying parasite off only to having it land on the other ear for a meal.
"But Mama, I don't understand something. Why can't we go with them as well or they come with us?" Kuda shifted her gaze at her dark sister but quickly turning back to her mother, not wanting Mawu to think that she was pitied. "I mean, before, we always did stuff together for as long as I can remember. Why the sudden change?"
And it was true. For as long as Kuda care to remember, the six of them would sleep, play, eat and romp together. Kuda did not create any particular closeness with any of the boys. She tried to form one with Mawu but something told her that it wouldn't be too welcomed. Kuda still interacted with the others like normal cubs would, but more often than not, she kept to herself. When she wasn’t off doing things on her own or with her siblings, she would trail her mother closely.
Before her mother could answer, Kuda noticed a large rotting tree that was in her path. She had no idea why but Kuda had the sudden urge to vault over it. Maybe it was to prove something to her mother, Mawu or even to herself, she didn’t know. Kuda sped pass mother and Mawu a bit in attempt to jump over it. Unfortunately, it was a little too high and big in diameter for her to make such of a hurdle at her current age. Kuda managed to sink her front claws at the top of the stomp but her hind legs didn’t quite make. With all her might, she was determined to try to scrape her way over it, causing bits of the dying bark to slosh off the stomp.
It was only seconds before Kuda lost her grip and fell onto her rump, which followed little bits of bark showering over her. Kuda, embarrassed, closed her eyes tightly and flattened herself as much as she could until the shower was over.

Koi tried to think of what Liza was telling the boys as they went on their adventures. She imagined her boys listening to their father with a smile, tails twitching in anticipation for what they were to learn. She sort of envied her mate and her sons... since they would have it a little bit easier as males... but... she was glad to have two daugthers.
She gazed back at Kuda and chuckled. "Because... Girls and Boys are diffrent here... Girls have to learn things that the boys don't have to. Like.. girls have to learn that here-int he Kunada... girls reign over the boys... but with respect...
We are not better and they are not lesser... but we have our places and we honor them. Us females are strong and fast and we must honor the other females... males must honor us... It is all a very complicated thing.
But... it is perfectly healthy to be with the boys until you are older... then we will part ways with them... though your father will stay with me... we will see what happens with that. She said, watching Kuda bound ahead. Such a headstrong female... she would become something vital here...
Then there was Mawu... She wasn't so sure

Mawu sort of listened to her mothers explanation. Mawu already had it sorted out in her mind-how things worked... and it would all end. She didn't like it much... sure... being all high and mighty was nice sounding but-she just found it all annoying. She blinked, watching her sister bound ahead. Oh Kuda... Mawu only wished she could be as adventerous.. as easy going...
Or as agile as her sister. Mawu sat beside her mother and watched Kuda attempt the tree. When she fell, she stood up quickly and padded over, brushing the scraps of bark away from the ground-and getting a few peices off her sister. "Kuda... are you okay?" She asked, her purple eyes stern

Once the downpour of bark stopped, Kuda slowly opened her eyes to see if she was alive. Hmm, I don't feel dead.
Kuda swished her tail and ears a bit before starting to get up slowly. She could feel her sister brushing off a few bits of the bark that still lingered on her backside. While she was occupied with her thoughts she missed most of what her mother told Mawu and hope that she will learn it anyway from others. Maybe she could ask Mawu later when she was less embarrassed.
"Yeah. I think so." She muttered in a embarrassed tone.
As she got up, she assessed all her limbs to make sure nothing was hurt other than her pride to find nothing amissed. Kuda was avoided meeting her mother and Mawu eyes, fearing that they would snear at her for her clumsiness and action. She sat there with her ears flat and tail curled up next to her, staring at the ground as she waited for Mama.

Koi turned and gazed at her two daughters. She chuckled-Mawu could try as hard as she could to be less sociable than her siblings-but in her heart-she cared for her family as much as she was cared for by them. Purple eyes watched as the sisters shared a moment. She sensed her time was near and she stepped up to her two girls-leaning down to brush off the top of Kuda's head and give her an affectionate lick on the head.
"Oh dear... don't be discouraged... you will one day be tall enough to jump clean over that tree. Little girls grow to be strong women in time..."She said with a wink. She picked each of the girls up one by one and plopped them over the log-so that the small shallow brook that ran near their den sight was. It was shallow enough for Koi to feel safe with the cubs playing there-and it was beautiful to see. Small rocks bordered it, pebbles lined it-birds sang over it.
"There... here we are." She said, stepping over the tree herself.

Mawu sighed and gazed up at her bright mother as she stood over Kuda and reassured her. She smirked, glad that they were born into a family that really cared. She had seen her mother be strong and warrioress... but... she could be soft and caring as a kitten. Mawu could not help but smile-but when Koi's paw slid under her belly and hoisted her up-she gave a grunt of displeasure. She could have easily gotten over that log herself-even though she was the same size as Kuda.
She was plopped on the other side and sat there, her lower lip extended in a pout. Soon, her sister joined her-and Mawu stood, dodging her mothers own yellow legs. Spotting the waters, she quickly padded over to it and began to splash the water over her toes.
Mawu loved the water. She loved the pebbles at the bottom of it. She loved the birds. A smile crawled across her face-something that was missing of late.

Seeing Mama was fixing to grab her to assist her over the log, Kuda froze and lowered herself to the ground before being lifted. Kuda dangled in her mother's jaws before being placed back onto the ground again near a stream.
The moment her mother released her, Kuda followed Mawu into the stream but in a more dignified manner. Her love for water wasn't as strong as Mawu but she liked it enough.
Kuda could see little fish, too small to bother eating, swimming near her submerged paw. Grinning, Kura called out softly. "Look! They aren't afraid."
She lifted her paw quickly before bringing it down again, scaring the fish away.

Koi smiled as the two cubs began to play-glad to see relatives that were alike in some way. Though one was dark and one was light-they both smiled from something as simple as a stream. She chuckled, stepping into the trickle herself. Her bright paws wavered in the water as she sat, watching the two play. Indeed, seeing these cubs made her feel a bit more nostalgic... here at the Kunanda, they needed new lioness's and Koi very much so-wanted her blood line passed on.
"See dears... isn't this more fur when it is just us three!?"She asked, watching them enjoy themselves.
