'Pow! Crash! Bang! Spsshaaa!' As the soundtrack to a action spy cartoon played in his head, Niraj adjusted his 3-D glasses. He trekked through some bushes, seeing the world in blue and red, and pretending everything was colored in halftone with dark black, ink outlines. What a glorious life he would lead if he were stuck in a comic book. As a cold wind blew, Niraj forgot his make-believe, and he headed out, probaly back to his house. He flicked his hair from his face and looked around to see if anyone was there, wanting someone to talk to, hoping they wouldn't be mean.

Mayfair wandered out, feeling the wind catching her fur as she strode delicately along. She clutched her parasol tightly and hoped that it wouldn't blow inside-out...ireparable damage could be caused! She moved more quickly, hoping to find some shelter before the wind got to strong. There was a figure...taller than she was, but still rather smallish...just ahead. "Hello?" She called out, a note of politeness strong in her voice. "Hello? Who is it there?"

The boy sighed, his tail swishing back as he trudged out of the bushes, his make believe world quickly coming back as he imagined himself to be a monster in an horror movie, lurking in the bushes. A perk of excitement bubbled up in him, as he peered a parasol outside of the bushes. A fair maiden, all alone! He thought of pouncing on her, gnawing her flesh and leaving her corpse to be fought over by buzzards and various scavaging animals. Though, what if she was the monster, and he was the victim? Then, he would have to set out to running like mad through the bushes, branches and leaves whacking him in the mouth. Maybe, if he escaped, he'd have a few scratches to prove his ventures. Maybe, he'd fall, cutting his knee, and he'd have to scramble up and dash out of the bushes, crying for help. Though, what if, when he fell, it was because his leg got caught in a log, causing him to break his leg with one sharp snap of his bone. Then, he'd be left trying to crawl to safety, tears rolling down his cheeks. Oh my! But, as in any good horror movie, the moster, this one, a pink lady, would pounce on him before he could get away, biting him in his neck and ripping him to shreds. Blood would be all over the place, no doubt. Though, Niraj kept these thoughts to himself as he stared at a pink girl with a parasol, watching her mouth move and listening to her words. "It's just me..." He mumbled quietly, without looking her in the eyes.

Mayfair's eyes widened. "J...just me? Who might that be?" She leaned toward the unknown person, when suddenly her parasol snapped shut on her head. She shrieked in surprise and pain, managing to tug it off and flushing crimson in shame for her outburst. "S...sorry? Please come out, young man...you're making me rather nervous!" She wondered why he wouldn't show himself. Was he horribly disfigured? Images of the Elephant Man flashed through her mind and she shuddered. Le gasp! What if he was a she? And she was embarrassed that Mayfair had called her a young man? Oh...that would be incredibly humiliating blow to her pride! Mayfair cringed and hoped everything wuld be as it was supposed to.

Niraj stared at the bush infront of him. If it weren't for this bush, he'd be out in a jiffy, but this bush, it was thorny and thick and scary looking. What if he went through? His skirt would get ruined! He sighed and began climbing out, stopping as he heard a snap and a shriek. "Are you alright?!" He asked, "Hehe, don't worry, I'll be out in a minute..." He carefully made his way out of the bush, making sure he didn't snag on anything. He brushed himself off, removing a few leaves that decided to hitchhike onto his pants. "Uhm..." He stood with a hand on his hip, looking feminine. His voice, too, was feminine. Though, most of the time, he hoped no one confused him for a girl. He didn't want straight guys hitting on him, and though he'd be flattered, he'd also be creeped out. And plus, once someone took him home, and got him undressed, they'd find out easily that he wasn't a girl. So he tried to put on some masculeninty now and then. But, he didn't need it now, not around a girl-Hey! Wait a minute! What if she was a lesbian or something? That would, indeed, be a problem. But, what if he just appeared to be a masculine girl? He sighed, hoping she would catch on. "Uh, nice...parasol." He muttered, trying to get to some small talk in which they would tell eachother names. Then, the girl would realise he was a male. Wait. No, maybe not. Neeraj was a girls name, and they sounded the same when spoken aloud, and it's not like she could see how it was spelled by hearing him talk. Oh! To be in a comic book! He put his hands in his pockets, hoping for the best.

Mayfair turned red again. "You...like it? Really?" She held the slightly battered parasol up to inspect it. The white lace and ribbons fluttered in the wind. She looked up at the young man she had been talking to and...huh...man? girl? boy? Person, she decided, not wanting to offend in any way. "That is a..." her eyes scanned the clothing, no, the costume the newcomer wore. "An interesting outfit you're wearing. I, er, like the skirt." She looked away, worried. If this was a man, then that would make him...rather odd. "M...my name is Mayfair," she said, dawing herself up to her full height. "And you are...?"

Niraj grinned, "Yup!" He said, his voice squeaking somewhat in the end, "It's, y'know, pretty!" He tucked a lock of hair behind his ear, keeping it awat from his face, "But be careful, with a pretty thing like that. It's so windy out!" He bit his lip, really hoping he didn't have to suffer through another awkward conversation due to his androdgny. He listened to the girl, smiling as his outfit was complimented, as he had found a way to identify himself as male, "Oh! I'm glad you like the skirt! I like it too!" he said, his voice peaking in it's feminine tone as he got excited. "I made it myself, and, I guess it's a little weird for a boy to make and wear skirts, but! I like to be unique! It's much funner than being all...like...blah." He giggled, "I like your name!" He said, "It reminds me of the spring time. My name is Niraj."

"Niraj?" Mayfair thought for a moment. "Are you from India?" She smiled, thinking fondly of the colony. "I went to India once over the Christmas Holiday. It was lovely!" She furled her parasol and tied it tightly closed. She looked up at him through her eyelashes, suddenly no longer uneasy of this strange man-boy that had leapt at her out of the bushes.
((She definitely thinks India is still a British colony))

Niraj nodded, "Yup! I was born there." He said. He cocked his head slightly, "Christmas?" He asked, trying to remember what and when the holiday was. Images of fat men with a ***** gleam in their eyes struck into his mind. He shuddered. But he also remembered the one Christmas he had celebrated. He blushed, as it was indeed a happy memory. "Oh, yeah, Christmas! Chocolates and presents and stuff!" He smiled, "Yeah, I like Christmas, but, I don't really celebrate it on my own."
