Having come to terms with his newfound 'daughter' and her disabilities, Fade carried the little one to the playground and settled her in the sandbox. She figured the texture of the sand might please her to some degree.
He was right. Valkyrie sifted her hands through the sand, digging around, feeling the various objects (sticks, a leaf here and there, things like that) buried in it. She enjoyed activities like this where seeing would actually not have been nearly as fun. Though she had no idea what any of it was and was too young to really try imagining what it was, she did enjoy feeling the different shapes and textures of the object, and of the sand.
Fade relaxed, sitting on the bench right in front of it and watching her closely.

"Bon bon bon buuuu~~~!" a small, startlingly BLUE child sang from not too far away. Bouncing up and down in her father's loving arms, her voice had such an upbeat tone that few could manage to hold back smiles of their own. This little ball of happiness was soon also splashing around in the sand, making strange little ripples and dunes with her playful thrashing. "Calm down, Psy. You don't want to get sand in your eyes.... like last time." Fantom warned, tacking on a somewhat apologetic laugh to the end. His only reply was a giggle and a quick hug from the little charge.008dff

Valkyrie was momentarily disturbed by this motion. She could sense a lot of movement and stuff was flying around-- some of it in her direction-- but since she couldn't see, she had not idea what it was. She reached around desperately, trying to put a stop to it and made a few distressed noises.
Fade came forward, lifting her out of the sand and looking at the other two, "It's okay, Valkyrie," he said. The girl seemed to calm at this, and settled back into the sand, "It's just another child. You will be fine. She is not hurting you."
Valkyrie nodded, sifting her hands through the sand again placidly.

Fantom, of course was clueless to what his child might be doing to others. His concern lay, and forever will be, with his own responsibilities as a parent. However, Psyrin wasn't as heavily a victim of tunnel vision and noticed the goings on nearby. pulling back from her father's leg, she crawled closer to the other child. "Bao bao?" Her stringy locks flopped lazily over her shoulder, not that the other child would have noticed or given a damn... But the usual 'OMGBLUECHILD' reaction was almost expected out of the other adult.

Fade eyed the other child carefully. He didn't want anyone to upset Valkyrie, really, but the girl didn't seem to be bothering her much...
Valkyrie didn't really notice the other, except she could hear movement and sort've sense a presence getting closer-- plus hearing the girl make sounds. She stopped sifting her hands a bit, not wanting to get sand on the other girl.
"Hello," Fade directed his thoughts to the little girl quickly approaching his own charge, "Who are you?"

The infant cocked her head to the side, staring up at her. "Saaaaaiiiii~!" she cooed, doing her best to mimic what she's heard many times before. She crawled a little closer and sat next to the other child, smiling. "peddyyy~ " she purred happily, groping awkwardly at one of the leaves Valkyrie had set aside. "Psyrin. And I'm Fantom Destler... She's not causing any trouble, is she...?" The father, a placid man in his late twenties, smiled kindly at the other parent. Secretly, he willed the child not to do something rude... A weird thing to wish, but given the child's track record and his other daughters reports-- The desire is justified.

Fade shook his head, "Valkyrie doesn't seem upset, so she must not be." He didn't know enough about children to know whether Psyrin was acting like a troublesome one. He wasn't sure that divulging his own name was particularly necessary if the other hadn't asked for it, so he didn't.
Valkyrie felt the other girl close enough to touch, and so reached out to do so. Though she tried to be gentle, she rather ended up flopping her hands over the other girl's shoulder.

Fantom smiled quietly, giving a small nod of approval before turning his attentions back to the girls. Normally, he may have tried to stir up conversation, however this time, he felt, it would be smarter not to pester the fellow guardian. Psyrin, however, wasn't as laid back, but instead quite curious of this new girl. With the somewhat rough THUMP on her shoulder, she couldn't help but give a somewhat involuntary grunt of surprise. "Mmmaa~?" This must be a new game! she pondered, in what ever language it is that children of her age think in, and mimicked the action.

Valkyrie blinked as the hand hit her shoulder, and then pulled back, looking about to cry.
"None of that," Fade said to her, "You did the same to her. You can't expect her not to retaliate."
Besides, it wasn't like she'd hit her -hard-. She wasn't injured. She was fine. It was just the surprise that bothered her, more than likely.
Valkyrie stuck out her lip a bit, but didn't cry. Instead, she just put her hand off the other girl's shoulder and picked up some sand, letting it fall through her fingers.

The child of aqua suddenly regretted this coarse of action. It was never her intent to upset the other child. But so, as a show of good faith, she pulled on her hair, releasing one of the clips that held her long bangs from her face. The small, faux-jewel studded treble-clef was acid etched with a fine criss-cross pattern, it's edges textured to look like coral. Carefully, she placed it into the hands of the other girl and smiled. "Fenn... <3" she purred, trying to make the girl smile again.
"You and your hair ornaments..." Fantom muttered, thinking back with a dreamy expression on his face. This one was completely useless. Paying him any attention at all is comparable to fretting a silver hair on an old woman.

Valkyrie was taken by surprise at this, and felt the hair ornament carefully, turning it over in her fingers as best she could-- her fingers were still quite clumsy with youth.
The girl smiled, reaching out -- more gently this time-- to touch where she was pretty sure the other girl's arm was, "Buh!" she said softly, by way of thanks. She ran her fingers over the ornament, enjoying the textures.
Fade gently took the ornament from her fingers a second later, clipping it in her hair, "There you go, Valkyrie," he said softly, "Very...uh..pretty."

Psyrin's long and silky bangs now fell forward into her face, especially now since she leaned forward to giggle. "Buuuu~!" she smiled happily, glad to have brought a little joy to her new friend. "She... Can't see, can she?" Fantom asked quietly, pulling the hair out of his own child's face. He had only been monitoring the other child for such a short while, but he'd been able to pick up on a few hints. The inability to look the other child in the eye, the fascination with touching the things around her, and other small hints were his basis. Gently, he gathered the long strands and tied them with a soft velvet crunchy he had borrowed from his other daughter. Psyrin giggled again, making strange little happy sounds when her father pat her affectionately on the head.

Fade shook his head, "No, she can't," he said softly, looking gently at the girl for a second before the soldier/protector persona came back, "But she'll be all right. I'll teach her how to look after herself without her eyes."
He knew how to fight in the dark. She'd have to learn to live in it.
Valkyrie giggled happily at the sounds the other girl was making and the hand that her guardian was running through her own dark curls.

Fantom smiled gently, thinking a bit before he said anything else. "The theater I work for has an after-school program for children with disabilities." This wasn't meant to imply anything, weather or not it came across that way. Fantom had been, and always would be a bleeding heart; far too sympathetic for his own good; So naturally, he wanted to offer an invitation to this stranger. After all, who knows? The clearly concerned parent may very well turn into a friend someday, and it was far out of Fantom's ability to simply ignore the prospect.
Psyrin's powder blue eyes gleamed up at the clip, glancing back from the adult to the child, then back to the clip which now was surrounded in... Glorious curly locks! This was something she found herself fascinated with. Her father's hair was cropped short, but smooth and uninteresting. Her sisters was somewhat wavy at best, and her own was simply stringy and limp. And so, she did as all children did. She touched. Careful not to harm the girl, she pulled clumsily at one of the curls, and let go, watching it pop back into it's original shape. Psyrin let out a squeel of joy and reached out to try it again. it's like a slinky, but soft!

Valkyrie giggled as the girl tugged gently on her curls. Really, it felt good the way she was putting her hands very gently through her hair-- like having it brushed! ...and really, that was how Fade brushed her hair anyways. There wasn't enough of it for him to use a proper brush.
The man considered this offer thoughtfully. He was pretty sure that Valkyrie was young yet for school, or after-school stuff. But, it might not hurt to talk with professionals about how he could be helping Valkyrie with her troubles. And what he might expect.
"That sounds...interesting."
