Lavendar had turned out to be a much harder thing to find then she had imagined. Her knowledge about it was strong from her old home, but it seemed like something rare to find out here.

"Ooohh, I cannot fail. Yanisin will be disappointed if I fail," she said to herself, her nose close to the ground as she tried to locate it's distinct scent. She was just out in this very spot a couple days ago, and while there wasn't much, there was still some left when she had gathered what she needed. So where did it go?

She did her best to not hold any ill thoughts against her mate. It was her fault, with the whole mess that they had gotten into, but who could blame her? She did not want to die, but she regretted her actions that almost got her sister killed, and then almost all of them. And the little cubs! Such innocent things, they should live their lives to the fullest.

All these thoughts, and she never once looked up around her to see if she was alone or not.

Dath still donned his little mortal alias. Just a grey, scruffy lion that was a hoarder. It was interesting, yes, but sometimes it got a little boring. He stomped through the grasses, wondering just what the hell to do next.

That was figured out soon enough. He noticed a lioness just a bit off, her head looking like it was stuck to the ground. Odd. He couldn't help but be overwhelmed with curiostiy, and so he trotted over to the lioness quite quickly.

He paused as he grew closer, nearly right next to her now. Sure, he wasn't standing in the direct path of where she was walking, but she didn't seem to notice her at all. Here he was a huge lion, and he was being ignored! He was sure that he wouldn't be if he was in his normal form, but he didn't feel like dealing with that shock and fear at the moment.

"What are you doing?" he asked, a bit of disgust hiding between his words.

Mafunde was abosrbed in her hunt. She knew that the sun would soon set, and if she did not return with the lavendar, she....really didn't know what would happen. Yanisin would probably be forced to sacrifice her, and then everything that they had gone through would all be for naught.

She sighed, nearly at the same time that she heard a voice. She did not let herself spook too much, but she couldn't help her head from jerking up to face the scraggly, weird looking lion before her.

"What?" she reflexively responded. She understood the question, but why did he want to know? He didn't seem like he was anyone to pay too much attention to, though. She'd entertain him for a bit, and hoped that he would leave soon enough.

"Oh, well, I'm gathering lavendar," she hurriedly answered, hoping that he wouldn't grow hostile at her rude outburst.

"Well, it doesn't look like you're doing a very good job, does it?" he snorted. She didn't have anything hear her right now, obviously, though the god had no idea what lavendar looked like, or even smelled like. He never cared much for herbs and scents and stuff, why should he? All of that meant nothing to him.

But, still. Why would a lion need to gather something that was a plan? Sometimes he would see other creautres munching on grass like gazelle, but that was few and far between. Was she sick or something? There was no hint of sickness, unless it was in her mind. Not that Dath had any room to talk about sickness in the mind, though.

"What the heck would a lion want with a plant, anyway?" He asked. It was interesting to him, as he was trying to widen his knowledge on mortals. They always did the weirdest things, and it was best to know just who your prey was and what their habits were or might be.

Hmph. Obviously this lion didn't know much about anything. It was shallow minded to think that way, but Mafunde had been raised in this manner, and to her it was correct. Why should she question most of what she had grown up with? Sure, they were now labelled as heretics and such from their old home, but the basics that she had learned were still the core of her being.

"Because lavendar is a clean, pure scent, and it's used to help clear the mind of your thoughts and sins," she said patiently, still hunting for a bit of it to show him. Sure, it would be 'wasted' on him, but as long as he learned about it's positive qualities, he would at least learn something, right?

Hmm.... where was the blasted stuff? She was determined to show him, even if he acted like she was stupid in her efforts.

Eh? He couldn't help but c**k an eyebrow. Pure? Since when was something pure, or would at least represent pure, that was in the form of a plant? It seemed so abnormal to him. His cubbish curiosity filled him, and he watched her carefully.

His mind wandered, though it seemed taht whenever he was wearing this 'skin', he was thinking like an outsider, a lion that didn't know much. Could something as simple as a plant really cleanse away your sins? It sounded like something out of a myth. Mortals would make up whatever they desired in these myths, always pinning the blame or start of them on gods. Did this claim that the lioness had come from that, or was it something derived from truth?

Hopefully she'd find some soon, he was getting mightly curious.

"Ah!" Finally! She felt like she had struck gold, but instead she found a little clump of lavendar. It worked out well, as she was able to find enough of it that she wouldn't have to waste all that she could find on the scraggly male. Instead she would be able to give him a little sample, and have enough to take home. It wasn't as much as some days, but it would be enough for all of them to share.

She gingerly picked up a stalk of it, one that wasn't too big, and turned around to face the male. He seemed curious enough, if a bit creepy. She set it down right in front of him. "Well, first you have to crush it, or you won't be able to smell it." She placed her paw on it gently at first, soon pushing her weight on it and rotating her paw in a swaying motion to grind it into the earth. "Then you lover your head down, nearly putting your nose on the stuff, and breathe. You might want to take it slowly if it's your first time, it's strong at first."

Dath curiously peered at the ground up...stuff on the ground, like it would try to bite his nose if he wasn't careful. His eyes, still gold in this form, studied it carefully. Well, here it goes! There was no way that a little plant could do anyhing to him, so he didn't have any fear in it.

He lowered his head a bit too quickly, though, and overpowering sweet scent of the lavendar completel jumbled his brain up. He coughed by reflex, raising his head up as he shot a glare at the lioness. Sure, she had warned him, but her certainly didn't want to hear it. At all.

It gave him an odd feeling, though. His eyes soon wandered back down to the small pile before him, wondering just what it was doing to his brain.

Mafunde couldn't help but laugh a bit. She warned him, and he went and did it anyway! That warning glare, though, made her soon somber up.

"Well, do you feel any better?" she asked, still trying to keep her giggle from coming out again. He looked quite silly, especially as he seemed to question the intent of the lavendar, as if it betrayed his trust.

"It's scent is supposed to clear your head, and help you look at things different." It worked well for her. The idea of having to go through it every evening was rough, but the scent was something that she couldn't forget. It was one of her favourite things she had ever known. "Since you smelled a bit too much at first, I'm sure you're feeling a little lightheaded."

Dath couldn't help but growl under his breath. Even if he wasn't posing as a god right now, it still felt like she was attacking him, mocking him. He told himself to calm down, because he really didn't want to blow his alternate persona, at least not yet.

"I wouldn't say better," he replied, pushing away the lavendar away from him, brushing at his nose as well. He was through with that. It was probably the sweet scent that turned him off the most. Dath was not one for anythign sweet, unless it was someone feeding him what he wanted to hear. Then that was sweet, and what he wanted as well.

"Oh," Mafunde replied, feeling a bit defeated. It always worked for her and her family, so why did it not work for him? She didn't dare think that he was too full of sin for lavendar to fix, but there was obviously something there. Maybe he was just too stubborn to really let it take its course. Maybe he would feel better, later?

But it indeed was a waste of lavendar if it didn't work for him.

"Well, I'm sorry, then," she said, feeling sorry that it didn't work. What else was she supposed to say? She didn't understand that it still didn't work for him, but perhaps that's just how it was sometimes.

Now she had to remember to take what she had found home, so she wouldn't have to stay out here much longer. Lololi certainly needed help with the cubs soon.

Dath grumbled about something, though it was so quiet no one could hear. Crazy mortals. He was actually quite disappointed that nothing magical happened. But, why would it? Mortals seemed to make themselves believe in things, so perhaps she had just done the same exact thing. She thought something would happen, and was disappointed when Dath reported nothing but a headache.

Without another word, he shrugged his shoulders and began to walk off. There was nothing else interesting in her, so he'd just continue on his way. "Thanks, anyway," he called out over his shoulder, the one bit of acknowledgement that he really offered her for all of her effort.

Mafunde couldn't help but sigh as she watched the back of the lion leave. What was with him, anyway? Whatever, she needed to get home. She nosed around, back to where the rest of the lavendar was growing. With a gentle tug, she loosened enough of it for everyone at home, keeping them safe within her mouth. It took her much too long to find it all, so she was certainly going to treat it like gold.

With a twirl of her body, she trotted back home, excited at the prospect to see her mate, her sister, and her little cubs again. Sure, they weren't hers, but they might as well be, since they were all one large family right now.
