Cha'ari was very much lost on the hot summer's day. However, he had found a large enough tree to hide beneath for shade. Though fully grown, his sprightly youth still overpowered him, and he began to amuse himself by plucking each blade of grass beneath him one at a time. Once he had a nice pile, he would scoop up a pawful and throw the blades into the air so he could dance around in the shower of green and brown.
But he was lonely. Everyone and everything he knew was gone. If only someone acknowledged my existence, he thought miserably, despite the amusement that played on his face.

Despite the heat, a dark-pelted lioness paced along out in the sun, looking as if she was, perhaps, lost in thought, gaze swinging slowly from side to side as she padded wearily along.
It had been some time now ... since one of her young cubs had inexplicably gone missing, her little boy ... and she was already starting to lose hope that he could be found again. She had her mate had split up to look for him, with the cub left to them staying with her mother.
For the moment, though, Layilme had left Tapiwa back at the last small watering hole, with instructions to hide if she saw anything or anyone. The young lioness had been too hot and tired to go on today, but Layil kept holding onto the thought that maybe if she just kept looking, she would eventually find her son.
Looking up again, she tried to pull herself out of dark thoughts, and blinked as she spotted an apparently fully grown lion playing with grass very much like a cub might. Almost in spite of her own heartbreak and dark mood, she smiled faintly at the sight.

Ari had once again gathered a pile of grasses and flung them into the air. He swatted playfully at the blades, but he was quikly loosing interest. However, as they settled back onto the ground, he spied a blotch of blue amidst the dull browns and greens of the earth around. He turned his red eyes to the colorful mass, realizing with a jolt that it was a lionness. He hadn't seen any form of cat or dog at all since the storm, and a fresh new excitement burst through him.
She seemed as melancholy as he felt inside, but the subtle smile gracing her face also reminded Ari of himself. Warily, but welcoming at the same time, he called out to her, "Hello." It was a blunt remark, but it worked for him.

Oh ... he'd noticed her now. Layilme blinked at him and somehow kept that smile on her face - not really wishing to trumpet her loss to the world just yet. She was sure some would probably take it to mean that she was a bad mother ... or even worse things, maybe.
So she nodded slightly, and replied just as simply, "Hello, yourself."

Ari grinned at her response, glad to simply have gotten one. His paws scuffed the ground and he waved his tail, inviting her over. "It's a hot day," he said, in his usual habit of speaking indirectly. The poor girl was such a dark blue, and the sun was indeed scorching today. Ari knew that his white pelt probably didn't feel nearly as hot as her, and standing in the shade only doubled the effect. "By the way, what's your name?" he quickly changed the subject for no reason, as usual. "I'm Cha'ari. Call me Ari." It wasn't a suggestion.

In truth, Layilme hadn't really noticed the heat ... all of her thoughts focused on her lost son, and wondering where he had gone... how to find him.
But at the male's words, she suddenly did notice the heat, and shook head slightly to banish a moment of almost dizzy weariness. She smiled at his introduction, though, dipping her head a bit.
"Well, Ari... I'm Layilme."

Layilme, Ari wondered. Such a beautiful name for one like her. The white lion didn't fully understand what seemed so compelling about her. Perhaps it was simply because he'd been lost and alone for so long, and the sight of this lionness evoked some kind of memory. But there was something. She had a feeling of loneliness and lost wandering about her, he could tell. Something similar.
"So why are you wandering around anyway?" Ari asked as casually as he could, though curiosity glistened behind his eyes. He was afraid to tell what had happened to him. He couldn't even remember what it was he was missing; or why he felt lost. Trauma.

"I ..." Layilme started, then hesitated for a moment. "I'm searching for something," she settled on then, not quite ready to admit that she had managed to lose her own son. That just ... was pathetic, really.
Pulling another sort of weak smile up from somewhere, she sat down and tilted head. "What about you..?"

Ari didn't bother delving deeper. But he replied simply, "I don't remember." There was a hint of pain behind his voice. "But I know I'm looking for something, too," he continued. "I just can't seem to recall just what." In truth, he knew he was searching specifically for someone and someplace, though who and where they were was shrouded from his mind.
"So we have something in common, I suppose?" the white lion smiled a little at this, glad to have made some kind of connection. A mutual feeling of something lost and a sense of lonliness (which, Ari had to admit, was actually somewhat common among many rouges).

"Oh ... it must be difficult trying to find it, if you don't remember what it is you're searching for," Layilme said, instantly sympathetic. At the least, she knew who and what she was looking for.
They did have something in common, though, as he had said ... and somehow, that was comforting. "I wonder if either of us will find ...what we're looking for," she murmured softly.

Ari would have laughed if it weren't such a sad, serious moment. He wasn't used to being down, but there was indeed something different this time. His mind was so lost, but here was another who wished to be found. Or at least, to find what they had lost.
"We will," he said quietly, moving closer to her to provide comfort - and to comfort himself. "Whatever Mkodi has borne upon us, it will pass. In the end, we must know that there is a reason." The big white lion wasn't usually so poetic, but sympathy and the mutual feeling of lonliness had started to sink into him. "After all, if we don't hope for the best, the best will never come. Just keep on looking - even if, like in my case, you don't know what you're looking for. It will find a way to get back to us."
He felt admittedly awkward as he spoke so calmly and smoothly; he was usually the one to be irrational and childish.

Layilme blinked slightly at that, glancing up at the lion and watching him as he spoke. And at his words, she felt some of the tension she'd been feeling drain out of her, leaving her weary but feeling better, somehow.
What Ari said was true. She couldn't give up hope that she would eventually find her son, no matter what mistakes she had made in the past. She was sure ... that she would find him, one way or another.
"You're right..." she murmured softly. "I ... thank you."
[ ooc: How long did you want to keep going with this one? o3o; Cause if I remember right, you wanted two RPs before a fling, right? Not that I'm trying to rush it ... XD Just not sure how much farther to go with this~ ]

((Honestly, that "2 rp" thing was just to make sure whoever applied would be a good enough candidate to have a little sense of commitment. But it's fine if we just fling with this one rp. Besides, this seems like a good point for them. ;D He'll be there when she has her cubs anyway, and we'll let the birthing rp count if you like. He'll just get scared and run away afterwards. But here, I'll finish it out~))
Ari could almost see the relaxation spreading through the lovely blue lionness. She seemed to be at peace, and Ari knew it was because of him and his offbeat wisdom. He had made her happier; she had grown a new hope.
"You're welcome," he answered almost awkwardly, but he smiled down at Layil with a subtle purr. "We'll find it; whatever it may be." And somehow, Ari knew they would. What came next, he wouldn't know. But in the end, he felt the sense of something good. Something found.
((I just need to finish up one more rp with someone, then we can submit the breeding app~? Just PM me your rps and info <3))
