Returning with Chanyatia, the large yellow male left the youngster with his brothers and turned to Panju. "Come, it's your tuturn now." he smiled and ruffled his palest sons head fluff.

He knew that Panju felt that he was the odd one out being so pale compared to his bright and dark siblings, but he would explain that to him during this little talk. There were always questions to be asked and he was happy to answer them.

Panju had waited patiently for his father, though he privately wondered what all of it was about. Why had they been taken aside from their sisters? They'd always done everything together; eating, sleeping, playing, fighting. This seemed something especially important and Panju was solemn, even as he played with Muskie in their father's absence.

When Liza returned, Panju rushed up to him, laughing as Liza ruffled his fluff. "Dad, what's going on?" he asked curiously, walking alongside his father, taking several steps for each of the custard-colored lion's. "Why is it just me n' Chanyatia n' Muskie you gotta talk to?"

Panju knew that Liza was always obedient unto Koi. Then again, they all were; it was Koi's word before anyone else's in the family. He also knew that his mother and sisters were different from himself, his father, and his brothers. But of a male's responsibilities to the lionesses of the pride he had no inkling, nor of his place in the pride. He also still wondered why he was so pale in comparison to his siblings and parents. It didn't weigh very heavily on his mind, but he hoped that his father would explain it to him.

Liza looked down at his son with a placid smile as he lead him to a small clearing away from the others. There was much to discuss and he would answer all questions in time.

Settling in the same spot ehr had with Panjus brother he smiled at the young cub. "It's t..t..time for you to learn your plplace in the pride Panju." He said simply wrapping his thick tail around his paws. He paused for a moment clearly thinking, his deep auburn eyes looking to the sky.

"I know you will have many qu..qu..questions Panju, bbut you must hold your tongue until I am fu..fu..finished. Ththis is vevery important you understand?" He looked to his son with a seriousness that the older custard yellow lion hardly ever had, his face usually turned in a pleased and rather dopey grin.

Panju scampered along, taking a seat before his father and smiling up at Liza. He cocked his head as Liza started to speak. Flipping the tip of his tail, he opened his mouth to ask a burning question, but Liza's next words silenced him. He blinked, a little tentative to speak because of the look on his father's face, but then nodded his head. "Yes Papa, I understand." Then he closed his mouth, looking very serious himself. If his father had something important to tell him, he knew he must listen.

Liza took a slow, meaningful breath and spoke to his son of the history of the pride, he told him on the males cruelty, what in the past others of their kin had done to this once proud pride.

"YYou see, this is why you must alalways obey the lionesses. DDo you understand?" he raised a curious brow. It was alot to tell a cub and he let a smile crease his maw then. He leaned down and groomed the youngsters head fluff. "Nnow you can ask questions." He smiled softly, his eyes returning to their usual happy go lucky glimmer. He had to be serious for their talk but he could never last very long after this most serious of talks.

((Hehe sorry I'v not typed the whole history but you've read it any ways XD! Liza would just recite it word for word ^_^!))

Panju stared up at his father, shaken by the tale of the cruel Idbar and the unfortunate Vipatti, the males that had done nothing, and that he, as a male, had inherited all of the sin of those that had come before him. He blinked up at Liza vapidly, trying to absorb everything that the custard-colored lion had just told him. So that was why. That was why.

Suddenly the color of his fur did not matter so much to Panju, and many other things that didn't make sense faded into unimportance. Parts of him rejected the story. If he'd been there, he thought, he would have killed Idbar. It wasn't fair. To have the gods judge him for some other lion's crime? Then again, he slowly rationalized, he did not know what he'd done in his past life... For all he knew he had been there, and had been the one to sit idly by. So he must obey the lionesses. Yes, he must, for as long as that sin hung over him. Envy for his sisters began to rise in his mind more than guilt over the sins of the Purahka lions.

Panju blinked again. "Yes, Papa. I do understand," he said hurriedly, realizing that he'd not spoken for too long. A smile broke out on his face and he tilted his head, purring as his father groomed him. He knew that Liza loved him and that was enough for now.

Nodding, Panju sighed a little bit in relief. His questions were coming back en force. The first one that sprang to mind seemed silly to him now, but he wanted to know, if his father was offering explanations. He'd not been teased too badly for his coloring, but he did feel different, set apart, from his siblings.

"Why is it that I look different from you and Mama and everyone else?" he asked.

Liza watched the young cub quietly asd he absorbed the knowlege. He wasn't about to hurry the pale cub in to a reply, each of them had to rationalise it in their own way. Each of them had to think and decide what they must do now. He knew each of his sons would make the right decission. Or hoped any way, he did not wish to put any more sin upon their heads.

He smiled when the cub spoke "Good bbboy. You wiwill learn, the lllionesses are not crcruel to us my son." He smiled softly then and listened to his sons questions. He knew this one would come, and he had an answer.

"Mymy father was your colour Panju. HHe came from a llong line from a prpride called the mumumistweavers. He was this colour "He pointed to Panju's pale coat "Wwith markings like thththis" he pointed to his own dark marks. "yYou remined me of him vvvery much." He stumbled a genuine loving smile breaking on his maw. He could remember his small father, he could remember his kind words and even playing over his paws as a little cub. Panju braught oall of those memories back and he knew above all that he would never leave any of his cubs alone. he would always be there for them if they needed him.

Panju was happy that his father seemed pleased with his acceptance of what he'd just been told, though inwardly he continued to digest the story, breaking it down into smaller pieces that he could brood over later. He listened attentively, ears cocked forward, when his father explained his coloring.

Blinking, he swelled a little with pride now that he knew why he was such a color, then rushed up to pounce on one of Liza's front paws, very pleased with himself. Then something gave him pause and he changed his mind on what he was going to say. "Oh, but Papa. Were the Mistweavers bad to their lionesses?" he asked curiously, both of his small paws resting on Liza's large one, his eyes tracing the dark markings on Liza's coat.

Liza took a deep breath, it was a question he knew the answer to but wasn't sure if he wanted to answer or not. He did not want to see his cubs leave the pride. It was the only place in the world he, himself, truely understood.

"NNo my son, the mistweavers w.wwere kkind to their lionesses." He paused and licked his lips. "Ththey have a ddifferent systen ththan us. their mmmales are in chchcharge, nnot their fufufemales." He paused and looked at his son, this little peice of information had been shocking to him, but to one so young whom could not possibly understand, truely, what it was like to be in a home where you understood the world.

He smiled serenely at his son, admireking the soft blond mane and pale coat, the youngster reminded him alot of his father, he knew he would grow up to make him proud. Or at least he hoped he would, he hoped they all would.

Panju glanced up at his father's face when he heard him draw breath, puzzled by the expression he was wearing. Then when Liza began to speak, Panju got the sense that his father did not want to tell him such a thing. He tilted his head. Already the idea of having anyone but a lioness in charge seemed foreign to him. Hadn't his mother always run things in the den? Had Liza not always asked for her permission to so much as take out his cubs and play?

"That's weird," Panju giggled a little to himself. "I think I understand, Papa. Us in this pride ran things the wrong way, so now the lionesses take care of things and we listen. We have to make up for what we did," he nodded, slowly rationalizing everything that his father had said. Then something occurred to him.

"We'll always get to live with Mama and Mawu and Kuda, right? In the den?"

Liza smiled, feeling a flood of releif as his pale son rationalised the wya things were. His dark, mild eyes looked the young male over, at least one of his male children understood the way of things. Of course the next question made him sigh.

"nNo my son, one day,w hen you are ololold enough, yyou will have to join the rest of the parastar in their dens." he smiled softly. "bbut ddo not worry i will vuvisit you often. And mmaybe one day you wiwill get lululucky and a ffemale will choose you to hhelp her." He smiles brightly "LLike your mumotehr chose me."

Panju pouted a little, but accepted it along with the rest. If that was what he must do, so be it. At least he would still have his brothers to play with, and Liza would visit. He could not imagine a life so far ahead of him, and felt a little sinking in his breast at the thought of leaving his mother. But he had time left.

The idea of a female choosing him had never occurred to him. The only lionesses he knew were his sisters and his mother. How did all of that work, anyway? Why did Koi choose Liza and for what purpose? He wasn't sure what his father meant, but he definitely wanted to know one thing. "How come Mama chose you?" he asked, blinking his bright blue eyes up at Liza.

Liza chuckled softly, what a question, and from a cub? Truthfully he didn't know. His coat was bright, except for his dark mane and the black markings which littered his coat.

"YYour mother f..f..found me and brbraught me home. II have d..d..devoted myself to her and wh..wh..when she asked me to help her have cccubs. I could not refuse." He smiled in a silly sort of manenr and ruffled his sons hair tuft with a paw. "IIm sure you'll fu..ffind a lady one day my son. Anand I know you will sserve her well." He bent down and nudged the cub playfully.

"Yoyou know I'll nnever be far away Panju. I llove you all, no matter the rrules of the pride, you are ststill my sssons and I wwill always be there for yyou."

Panju swiveled back his ears, giggling as his fluff was ruffled, then rolled onto his back when he was nudged, putting his paws on Liza's nose. He beamed up at Liza; he loved his father enormously. "Yes Papa, I know. And I know I'll make you proud," he pulled himself up, flicking his tail as he sat back on his haunches.

"Is that all, Papa?" he fidgeted. He was eager to get back and play with his brothers. He still had a few questions, but they were things he thought he could work out for himself.

Liza nodded "yyes. we should gget back to your brothers. I nneed to speak to them too." He grinned at his pale son and gave him a nudge on his bottom, taking him back towards his broothers. He felt this was probably the easiest of his cubs, perhaps. Who knew how each of them would react to this?

Time would tell what the rest of his sons would do about what he was about to tell them. Perhaps, he hoped, it would be as easy as Panju. He hoped so.
