Once Liza had taken the male cubs away from their sisters, Liza turned to each son in first. Knowing it would be easier to speak to them seperately. as each of his sons were differnt in many ways, he thought this would be best.

First, he would speak to the cub he thought would be most difficult to deal with. Their youngest child. He was independant of his siblings after all. "Chanyatia, come with me." he says simply looking to his other sons "Ststay together and I will return soon." He smiles and walks off expecting his youngest son to follow him.

When his father called him, Chanyatia nodded silently and slowly went to join him. He was worried that he was in trouble for some reason, despite his father's docile nature. After all, his introduction into the Pride so far hadn't exactly been a smooth one.

Being told that his sisters, and indeed all females in the Pride, were superior to him had never sat well with the opinionated cub. And the fact that he had not been given a reason for all this yet annoyed him to no end. As a result, he roamed the Pride asking questions that he rarely got any answers to.

"Am I in trouble father?"

Liza looked down at his younest son and smiled softly. "nNo, you're nnot in trtrouble" he stutters, walking slowly away from the other cubs until they came to a small clearing where they were covered from all eyes by foliage and a line of trees. The big male took a deep breath his dark orange eyes looking down at his soft yellow and orange son. He searched quietly for the things he needed to tell his son,t he important lessons that the young male must learn.

"SSist down Chanyatia. nnow you mmmust stay quiet, do nnot ask any ququestions until I am fufufinished okay?" He looked at his son and waited for the promise. It would take time to tell his difficult son the story of the pride and he needed silence to tell it. "I propromise when I am dddone you can ask ququestions okay?" He waited quietly for the aggreeing nod, or even a yes, he needed to have silence before he began, even from this most oppinionated of his youngsters.

Chanyatia breathed a small sigh of relief when he learned that he wasn't in trouble. There was something about his father's current tone of voice that still worried him though. When they pushed their way through the bushes into the small clearing, the pale yellow cub stood before his father, waiting to hear what he had to say.

It all sounded very serious. Chanyatia did as he was told and sat himself down. He blinked as Liza went on, confused as to why he wouldn't be able to ask questions. "....OK." He said finally, more than a little sulky that he would have to sit there and just listen.

Liza smiled at his son and took a deep breath before he started. He told the story of the history of the pride, word for word, telling Chantatia about the tyrant lion and the lionesses whom over through him.

At the end of the story Liza let out a sigh and spoke directly to his son. "SSo you see Chanyatia? YYou must oobay, you hhave been brbrbraught here to ppay for the wrwrwrongs done to those in the past. dddo you understand?" he raised a brwow and waited for the barrage of questions that would undoubtedly pour from his sons mouth.

Chanyatia listened carefully to all that was said. He was actually quite fascinated, and there was a number of times where he had wanted to chime in. He had restrained himself though, and he was glad that he had, as now he could say everything that he thought in one big go.

"How is that fair though? It's horrible what that lion did to the females back then, but I haven't done anything to anybody. Why have I, and all the other males, got to pay? It's really not fair father." For a cub, he certainly had a lot on his mind.

Liza knew this would happen, and the answer was already formulated in his mind."Our ancestors my s..s..son cannot pay for that which ththey have dododone. Tto be a good mmale now will mean ththat in your next lllife you will be bbborn a female." he smiled at his son, he knew it was hard to take in, hard to understand for one so young, but he didn't want his spunky child to be cast out or for koi to suffer for their children if he did anything wrong.

"yyour mmother, she is a pppowerful lady, cococousin tot he quququeen herself. Yyou must be good, if for n..n..no other reason than to prprprotect her." He lowered his dark maned head and nudges his little son. "I'l alalways be there for yyou, and I knknow it's hhard to understand. You'll sssee though, our life is nnot hard."

Chanyatia's face wrinkled up in confusion. "Next life? Why, what's going to happen with this one?" The cub was still too young to fully understand the concept of reincarnation, although one part did stick out in his mind as he definatly didn't like the idea. "I don't want to be a female." He said with a somewhat sulky tone of voice.

At the next bit of information, Chanyatia's eyes widened considerably. He had no idea that his mother was related to the Queen. If anything though, this made things worse. "If we're related to royality, shouldn't we be treated better father? Me, you and my brothers?" It was a lot of information for a young cub to get his head around, but it had to be done.

Liza sighed softly. This was alot harder than he thought. he lay down slowly and pulled his son to his chest hugging him softly and grooming his little tuft of deep orange hair that would one day become his mane. "NNno my son. Eeeven your sisters are under r..r..rules. TThough you are rrrelated to the quququeen, it sssimply mmeans that you can brbrbring grgreater shame on your mumumother, if you missbehave. YYour mother rererescued me from out thththere, I do nnot want to brbring shame upon her."

For once Liza sounded stern, resolute, he was usually so happy, so carefree this was somethign rare and unusual. "You MUST behave Chanyatia." he licked his lips. "If not for my sake, for your ffamilies sake. I llove your mother ddearly and it would ppain me to see her cast aside in to slslavery because of ssomething I have done." By I he acctually menat his cubs, he thought of them as little extentions of himself, it was his responsability to teach them, to love them and to make sure they behaves in the correct ways, if they misbehaved it fell on him as their father and ultimately Koi as their mother. She would suffer far more than they for they could not pay a toe.

Chanyatia playfully struggled as his father cuddled him closely, and stuck his tongue out as his father groomed him a little. When Liza started to speak again though, the cub peered up at him and payed close attention. "Shame?" His ears lowered at the thought of getting his mother and the rest of his family in trouble.

Chanyatia lowered his head a little as his father's voice remained stern. Even though he hadn't done anything wrong, he felt like he had. "I'm sorry father..." He murmered before burying his head in his father's thick mane.

Liza smiled at his most stubborn of sons, his dark, auburn eyes resting on the youngster. he didn't want him to feel baddly, far from it, he simply wanted him to care for his family as much as he himself did. "Don't be sorry mmy son. I'll always prprotect you." He smiles lightly nudging him gently with his muzzle.

"CCome, lets go back to your brbrbrothers." He smiles. "I have to ttell them as well." He pauses for a moment and nudges playfully at Chanyatia. "last one ttheres a rotten egg." He beams bouncing off, ever so slowly to allow his boy to keep up and infact win this little race. All he wanted in life was for his children to be happy and he was determined to have it that way.

Chanyatia managed a small smile as he lifted his head up, pleased that he had infact done nothing wrong. Still, the idea of bringing shame upon his family troubled him deeply, and it meant that he may have to change who he is or at least think before he speaks. The whole situation made him feel rather sad, and now he was unsure if he would be able to talk to anyone about it.

When his father challenged him to a race back to his brothers, Chanyatia didn't move. He appreciated that his father was trying to lighten things up again, but the damage had already been done. "It's not fair father." The cub repeated what he had said earlier before sitting himself down, seemingly unwilling to return to the family den. At least not yet. "Can't you get mother to speak with the Queen about it? Surely the Queen wouldn't get her own cousin in trouble."

Liza sighed and padded back to his son. He understood there was alot on the brightly coloured childs mind. He could see that blind acceptance just wouldn't cut it. "It d..d..does not work that way my ssson." He stuttered his deep orasnge gaze resting on the rather difficult child. He knew one of them had to be like this. The life he had chosen himself wasn't for everyone. Males outside did not understand.

"Even the qu..qu..queen herself can gget in to trouble for d..d..dissobaying the laws. Nnnoone is above it. Your mmmother would not have it any ototother way." He sighs softly reaching out a paw to pull Chanyatia closer to his dark maned body. "You must llearn to ththink before you act my chchchild." He paused for a moment. "I knknow it is hhard for you to unununderstand. bbut you will sssee, llife as a mmmale isn't so bbbad."

Chanyatia couldn't believe that even the Queen herself was not above the law. "That seems really weird father. Who made it so that even the Queen isn't allowed to break the rules?" The yellow and orange cub knew that he had no choice but to accept this way of life, but he also knew that he would probably never fully understand it. That was most likely where the problem lay. "And I guess no one's ever going to even try and make it better for males." He said finally, a solem look on his face.

Liza sighed heavily. He didn't really understand why this, most stubborn of his sons could not accept it, but he did know that things had been different long ago. "Wwwe all pay for the wrongs our ananancestors did to the fffemales Chanyatia. I knknow it's hhard for you, bbut, things are good for us, wwe are not treated terribly, just because we are nnot in charge doesn't mean we are hated or unloved."

He paused and licked his lips "llook at your aunt gurami and bbbanda, they llove each other, I am not mimimisstreted by your mother and nnoone will allow you to eeever be mistreated." He smiled softly and licked the tuft of fur on his sons head that would one day be his mane. "One dday Chanyatia, you'll ffind your place here, or you'll find a plplplace out there." He looked out over the head of the youngster, perhaps this child would leave and find a place in the world out side of the pride. he didn't know, and it didn't really matter. He would find his own path, he knew that.

"Now come, I still hhave a couple of your brbrbrothers left yet" he chuckled.
