I have played a few epis in my day, just to be dissapointed... the quality is a big - and the pickups are just terrible! But, i really love thier hollow bodies, since ive owned gibson ES-335's and epiphone dots, casinos and such, i can say that the epis are actually not that bad compared to the gibsons. Their les pauls, aspecially the specials are terrible. That was my friends guitar that we smashed because it jst stoped working... What do you think.... oh please no random posting about dean, kramer, ESP or any of that stuff.... thats not the topic people

I've played a fair share of crappy Epi's, but there are always those that are pretty good. Still, I've noticed that their quality is improving, but frankly, I still wouldn't buy an Epi without playing it, maybe an Elitist series, but I'd rather a Fender for that price.

Well, I think everyone has their own opinion on guitars. I personally love Epiphones. Although I have noticed Gibson guitars have gotten cheaper in terms of quality. I still love their sound.

Epiphone..what can I say, its been there for me when I was short on cash. But still quality is not the greatest. Anyone wanna buy a Epiphone Goth Explorer w/ EMG's?

If Epiphone made their guitars great, then who would buy Gibsons? I am sure Gibson has instructed them to build them with some suck in them.

epiphones arent built with "suck in them" theyre built in china on assembly lines. its so they can be cheap. paying for a gibson all youre doing is paying for someone to build the guitar in the USA by hand (and of corse most of it goes to royalties on the name and such).
dont say epiphones suck though. theyre much better value for what you get than gibson and ive played gibsons that had more "suck in them" than epiphones - yes it does happen. i stay away from both.

I have had three Epiphones, and I have had trouble with every single one of them! The problem always seems to involve the input jacks and the pickups, the inputs always get messed up and the pickups could always sound better. However I also own three Gibsons and have never to date had a single problem with any of them!
Also I think the people that say Epiphones are better then Gibsons are wrong because Epiphones at least now I cant see significantly increasing in price as they become Vintage where as Gibsons and other high end American guitars are more then likely to increase in value over time.
Idk could be wrong, But I like both and I love my Epiphone Black Beauty once I changed the input and the treble pickup to a Burstbucker it is great!

Well I personally love Epiphones...but of course the specials and the 100's suck...they're not made for adults i don't think....but tone wise id say they're above average, which to me is a rare find in itself.
