Blue eyes searched the gray sky. Days like this proved that though winter was on it's way out it hadn't yet lost it's power to spring. Karma had thought that he might fly that day but hadn't dared to test his young wings in the fierce wind that rattled through the trees. He held them tightly against his sides but the wind still would catch at a feather from time to time and threaten to send it spinning from his body. If he lost too many feathers he wouldn't be able to fly at all.
On the ground, he pressed forward against that wind towards a rocky outcropping that looked to serve as a shelter. The wind was unpleasant enough but if it started to snow on top of that he'd need a place to bed down to wait it out.
Unbidden, he remembered the snowstorms that he'd been through in his colt days with family. Somehow they'd never seemed as threatening when he had had his parents and siblings there beside him.

Lena had tried to fly only once or twice so far, the times had proven to be awful and she really had ended up wishing to had not have done it. Her legs still ached from the harsh landings and she feared that one of these times she would plummet to the earth and snap a wing. Although it was possible to heal from such a bad wound that didn’t mean she had any intention of having to have to go through it. Lena would just wait til the weather god nicer out and fly then.
Something caught the grey-black mare’s eyes and a stallion of rather bright coloring came out of nowhere into her shelter. Smiling at the thought of company, and blushing that she’d been found in her hiding place.. Lena pondered a bit about what to do.
Obviously she would just have to be friendly to him and then if that didn’t work she’d run like hell out of here and find somewhere else to do. “Hello there… Finding the weather not to be to your liking?”

Karma was also surprised to see another soquili in the area though it only showed mildly on his face. It looked like another winged soquili like himself and it seemed like they shared the same purpose in getting out of the way of the wind. He thought about that while smoothing his feathers down and gently shaking his tousled braids back into place. He'd probably have to find a willing human to fix them for him after this escapade.
It was only after these ministrations that Karma answered, looking over to the strange mare and replying. "I can't say that I find the weather particularly enjoyable." One ear swiveled sideways to listen to the howl of the wind outside their shelter. "I will leave if you'd prefer to stay here yourself, but I'd rather not." He could find somewhere else to stay but didn't like the idea of fighting through the wind to try to find another place.

Lena blinked at the stallion and waited patiently for his answer. Of course, she only was able to wait that well because her mind had decided to wander away with and ponder over the different things that seemed to constantly be roaming about in her mind. “Oh no, you don’t need to leave.. I don’t mind this weather but it isn’t always the nicest to have to go out in.” Why would she make someone else leave? That wouldn’t be nice.
He was an interesting stallion to look at, too. Green braids, like her braids, purple-hooves, and an all-over body color of blue. She wouldn’t have mixed those colors in her mind, but they looked so pretty when she didn’t have to try to imagine them up. “What are you doing out in this? Well, what were you doing since now you’re in here and not out there.” A bit redundant, but Lena didn’t really notice or mind her own repetition.

Karma was momentarily distracted by his new companion's markings. He had known soquili with several different varieties of spots but hers seemed the most deliberate. She was oddly reminiscent of some type of animal, though he couldn't recall quite which one prompted that association. He was relieved that she wasn't going to ask him to go back out into the wind. It would be much more pleasant staying sheltered from it, assuming that neither of them found the other's personality unpleasant.
"I was just thinking about flying," he replied. "But I don't think I'll try until the weather changes."
