Aziza - Owned by Kamileunaire

-----------------------------------
Hafi was currently engaged in her favorite sport, and that was to chase small animals about in the dust. That was all she hunted for, after all, and today her prey was a mouse! It was a small thing, but at least she knew what it was, quite unlike the lizard she'd discovered the other day...she hadn't the foggiest what -that- had been, until a kind lioness had explained it to her. Leaping high into the air, she pounced, in a brave attempt to catch the mouse, but managed to miss entirely, growling at it and continuing her chase. Aziza was plodding along boredly, a ways fromt he water hole, when she heard the soft growling of the little cub. She lifted her head to peer ahead, before slinking forward again, eyes half closed as she observed the little female at play. She was quite obvious in the grasses, being so dark colored, and she merely watched for a few moments, wondering where the cub's parents were.
Head snapping up, she was immediately diverted from her prey and smiled widely. It was a new person! Bouncing over to the lioness, she plopped at her feet with a delighted mewing sound, her way of saying hello, tail flicking to and fro.
The lioness peered down at the cub, a bit surprised at her forwardness. "Don't you know that kind of behavior can get you torn apart out here?" she said, looking about irritably. "You're lucky there aren't any hyenas around..." she said, prodding at the young female with one paw.
She eyed the paw, and then batted at it, not really understanding. Making a curious sort of noise, she didn't comprehend the thought of a threat...and she'd never met a hyena before, thus didn't have the foggiest what the female was talking about.
"Hnn. Where are your parents? Who would leave a cub out here all alone..." she said, growling lightly and setting her paw down. She glanced around again, trying to see or catch the scent of any other lions that might have happened to be nearby. "Well?" she asked the youngster, looking down again.
At mention of her parents, the cub's ears drooped and she looked piteously up at the lioness, making an upset mrowling sound and moving to follow that paw, curling up about one of Aziza's feet. Adults were automatically associated with safety in Hafi's young mind.
Aziza layed her ears back rather angrily. "Why don't you speak to me? You're old enough." she said rather gruffly, becoming annoyed. She stepped back from the cub, and continued looking around, simply praying that someone would show up. What a bother it would be to have to help the cub. She wasn't heartless enough to leave it on it's own but she certainly wouldn't relish becoming a provider.
Making a whimpering sound, she scooted back from the other's paw, only to walk around her, the next target being Aziza's tail, which she batted at kitten-like, claws sheathed. Perhaps she didn't want to cuddle...did she want to play instead?
Aziza growled angrily to herself, and sat down carefully, letting the foolish cub play. Perhaps it was dumb. Animals were born with deficiencies all the time, though Aziza was surprised the youngster hadn't been picked off. She grumbled to herself and sat there. Her belly full, and with little else to do, she would wait with the cub and see if anyone came to retrieve it.
Batting at Aziza's tail-fluff for a few moments longer, she finally gave up on that and then trotted around, wobbling just a bit in typical cub-like manner, to plop herself on Aziza's forepaws with a delighted cooing sound, crimson eyes blinking up expectantly at the lioness.
Aziza took a moment, before finally looking down at the cub, blinking. "What?" she said, trying not to snap. It would be annoying if she tried to run away, because that would mean having to chase after and catch a cub. "I wish your parents were around...I wonder if Ayo knows who you are..."
At the mention of parents, she looked back up at the lioness pitifully, and she looked as though she might cry. She’d lost her parents and her entire family, but didn’t really know how to communicate it to this lioness…to keep from irritating her.
Oh was she going to cry? Aziza didn’t think she could handle a crying cub. “Stop that.” She commanded, eyes narrowing, not thinking of the affect that might have on the cub. After all, it wasn’t like she had any mothering experience to her name.
With a terrified squeak, the little cub burrowed against the lioness’ chest, as though to hide from her wrath. Maybe this would be better…maybe if Hafidha couldn’t SEE the lioness…then the scary would go away.
Heaving a great sigh, Aziza put her paw cautiously atop the little one. Yes, it seemed that she would be stuck with babysitting duties for a good while to come.

Aziza - Owned by Kamileunaire

-----------------------------------
This was problematic. It was clear to Aziza now that her new charge, the one she had taken on all unwilling, was not accustomed to eating large things, like the gazelle that lay between them. Frustrated, she was in the midst of attempting to get the cub to eat, and it wasn’t working too well.
Hafi looked up at Aziza, and then down at the food, and back up again. Irresistibly cute, but utterly confused. She did not know what was wanted of her, after all. Making her bewildered mewing sound, she batted idly at the gazelle’s horn, before gnawing on it idly with her baby teeth.
With a frustrated growl, Aziza tore into the kill, “Eat it you idiot.” She muttered, hoping that the cub would see her example and follow suit. Truly, this cub was utterly brainless, that was the conclusion that she had come to.
Ceasing her playful chewing, she turned wide crimson eyes to Aziza once more. Poking the carcass with a paw, she warbled cheerily, still not getting the point of the thing. Mice and lizards were food, not the big deer-things.
At her wit’s end, Aziza tore off a hunk of meat from the dead gazelle, and trotting around, dumped it at the cub’s feet. “It’s dinner.” She stated shortly, her voice flat and cold, really trying not to lose her temper at the little one. “Food.”
More confused blinking. Finally, she leaned down to sniff it, and then hesitantly lapped at it with her small pink tongue. Then she glanced back up to Aziza, as though expecting some sort of verification that this was what she was supposed to do with the proffered meat.
Aziza nodded eagerly, hoping perhaps the dim-witted youngster had gotten the idea this time. It was hard to be a caretaker of any living thing, much less a cub who seemed to be missing half of her brain.
Hafi, however, assumed that that was all that Aziza wanted, and with a delighted yowl, attempted to pounce her newfound friend, supposing that dinner was over and now it was time to play! That was what her life revolved around, after all.
Furious, Aziza swatted the youngster away with her paw, snarling at the cub. “That’s it! I give up trying to feed you!” If Hafi wouldn’t eat it wasn’t HER problem. The brightly-pelted female wasn’t Aziza’s cub after all, she had no obligation to do this.
With a terrified squeal, Hafi turned and went running as fast as her little dark paws could go. Memories of the frightening lion that had killed her family had resurfaced, and all that Hafi knew now was panic. Running full-tilt, she disappeared into the grasses of the Savannah, looking to find someone a little less scary and confusing.
Aziza sighed heavily, too exasperated to even consider chasing after her. Flopping to the ground, she set about finishing her meal. Maybe the cub would get smart and come back, and if she didn’t…her funeral.
