So me and my love are planning on getting married July 2009. Im currently a university sophmore, I'll be getting married just after my junior year. I was wondering if anyone has done something similar, or if anyone has tips for me for doing the planning and the course work at once. I do live at home with my parents, so dorm partys arent an issue as I like to stay home. My hubby to be is in Cali (Im in NH) so we fight distance but we work around it, we love each other so much we dont care about distance.
So any ideas on keeping the sanity with wedding planning and university/college life?

I'm a college sophomore myself and I'm getting married this May! PLUS I have a 7 month old daughter. So yeah, it's hectic. But honestly our wedding is low key and inexpensive so it's not too much planning-wise. But my suggestion is start thinking about it now and try to do a little bit every month. You have plenty of time, so no rush. But since you have school it would help to start soon so you're not rushing January 09.
A few notes: Some dresses (including bridesmaids) take a while to order! Especially if you want extra length. For the orignal dress I wanted it would have taking 12 weeks to get. Which would have put me after my wedding. And my bridesmaids dresses are coming in exactly one week before my wedding! Stressful!

Thank you Catalina, that puts me more at ease. Chris is so supportive of me in everyway which makes it easier.
I have already created the budget! blaugh I found the dress I really want, and I already purchased toast glasses for me, him and our bridal party. Ive started getting stuff for center pieces. So... I actually have a lot done. Ive asked 2 of my 3 bridesmaides, and picked a maid and matron of honor. *sigh of relief* wow... thats a lot done xd

It's not until summer '09 and you've already bought things? I'm impressed! Right now I'm working on picking flowers for boquets and centerpiece ideas. I'm not one for planning so it's craziness for me, lol.

Yes! The Dollar Store is pretty awesome. I've definitely done wedding shopping there. And Wal Mart, too.

haha don't do what i did... we got engaged october of 04. and married may 1 2005.. i had just finished my sophmore year the problem was the wedding date... that thursday was the last day of finals... my last final was physical chemistry and it ended a whole 3 hours before my wedding rehearsal. I did poor on that final. the next night was my husband's department ceremony the next night was his actual big graduation. the next day was our wedding and the next day we had to be on the ship for our honeymmoon cruise... gonk this was a very bad idea to push everything into one weekend... as far as flowers go.. use whatever is in season.. they are soooooo much less expensive.. as far as planning and course work.. try to find someone to work the planning for you. or at least narrow things down for you to choose from a few choices that are in your budget.

I dont think I could have done that. I stress kind of easily. Thats kind of why we chose July. I dont have to worry about classes, and I wont have my wedding the same month as my sister. Well Chris came up with the favor idea and is working on something for that heart and we have 2 ideas for centerpieces... we just need to pick something xd

I'm a college junior and I actually got married last June. heart
One thing I definitely recommend is a summer wedding. It definitely helps with the craziness and the last minute details because you don't have to worry so much about schoolwork and can just focus on the last minute planning and preparation.
Also. . .take full advantage of school breaks. I probably got more planning done over breaks than I did the rest of the year combined! xd
Good luck! I hope everythign works out beautifully!

Hazy D-Angelique Lady Catalina Sweet! Under $600 is good! ^-^ $450 to be exact! blaugh That is awesome! Yeah for my dress, undergarments, veil, jewelry and hopefully shoes (I still need those) it comes to approx $600 total. (I'm proud of myself...) My friend is getting married a month after me and she spent about twice that much on the same things. O_o
