I kinda wish to rant a bit. Ever since I was a little kid, I have been incredibly drawn to Jewish culture.
Every time I ask my mother if I may ask my grandmother if she has any Jewish lineage, I get told to bugger off. I may as well ask my grandfather as well, considering I found out he was born in North Africa and no one will tell me why he immigrated to Italy at a young age during Mussolini's rule. Tunisian Jews were abundant before Mussolini and Hitler came along..
Gah!
I don't like secrets, especially one's that are incredibly important.
Maybe I'm making something out of nothing.
Have any of you had complete shockers?

I've been surprised before. Most of us know that there are Jews from Germany, Hungary, and Russia and the like (Ashkenazi Jews), and also Jews from Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Italy, and Greece (Sephardi Jews), and some even know there are Jews from Yemen (Teimani Jews) and from Ethiopia (Beta Yisrael), and of course we've all heard of the Jews of the Middle East, northeastern Africa, and Asia (Mizrachi Jews). I was surprised to find that I have ancestors from MOST of those areas; I'm only lacking South/Central America, Australia, and the Pacific Islands as homelands for any of my ancestors (that we know about).
All this, and I look like the popular misconception of Irish (red hair, freckles -- which is actually a Norwegian look, which I can claim, while full-Irish typically have dark hair). Which I'm not. xp

I sometimes wish I didn't have a head full of black curls though.

I look Jewish in the fact that I have dark hair and eyes, but few in my family have big noses.
I have 2 cousins with red hair. (Though nobody really knows where they get it from)
My great-grandfather's family all had blonde hair and blue eyes. (Russian)
I agree with Divash- you'd be surprised.

Big noses :] wink my friends constantly make fun of me for having that All of my family just comes from Russia and Poland although I found it interesting to learn of the reasons my maternal grandparents met around WWII. My grandfather lived in Russia and in order for him to be able to leave he had to marry someone from Poland. I don't really know to much about my family past my grandparents except for a few facts about my great-grandparens

My father's parents were German, my mother's parents were Austrian and Czech. I look like John Belushi with glasses.
