What movies does everyone like?
PostPosted: Sun Mar 02, 2008 4:20 pm

My favorites:
Batman Returns (Michelle Pfieffer as Catwoman! Could anything be more perfect. Favorite actress as my favorite comic character!)
Beauty & the Beast (My favorite fairy tale ever! And Disney did it beautifully.)
Howl's Moving Castle (Nothing like the book but still a beautiful story.)
Quest for Camelot
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (Who knew Cloud had freckles?)
Edward Scissorhands (Johnny and Winona!)
Heathers
Death to Smoochy (I heart Edward Norton.)
Ladyhawke (Michelle Pfieffer again!)
An American Tail/An American Tail II (The Fievel movies)
Much Ado About Nothing
Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice (Not the Kira Knightly version, but the six hour A&E one.)
Sense and Sensibility (Harry Potter fans will recognize half of the cast)
Resident Evil (The original)
Failure to Launch (Zooey Deschanel is my best friend perfectly.)
The Mummy/The Mummy Returns
Aladdin
Enchanted (OMG! So amazing!)

I think that's it. I love all kinds of movies, but those are my faves.

Which version of Hamlet is that?
I forgot Interview with the Vampire! How could I forget that!?
Miyazaki movies are kind of a given.
Pan's Labyrinth - the first sign that I was learning something in my Spanish class. I understood some of it without reading the subtitles.
Didn't like Queen of the Damned. Of all the movies based off of Anne Rice books, Interview was the only one I liked.
Spiderman - my least favorite superhero. And WTF did they do to Gwen in 3? How can you treat a character who had such a tragic death in the series like they did?
I like to pretend Bridge to Terabithia does not exist as the book and the older version of the movie ruined my childhood.
I forgot The Last Unicorn, too. I recently found it on DVD.
The Princess Diaries was pretty good. (MICHAEL! I just bought his band's new CD!)
Underworld was good. I actually started writing a story that was part inspired by Underworld, part inspired by Hawksong.

It’s the Hamlet with Mel Gibson & Glenn Close.

Awww! Come on! Spiderman is at least sorta cool. I only liked the first movie though.

Underworld rocks. I think it’s my favorite of my favorites. lol

OBTW! I forgot to include the X-Men movies on my list! They’re awesome.

Ugh. That's the Hamlet I don't like. I prefer the one with Kenneth Branagh (Lockheart in Harry Potter) one. Actually, if you get the chance to see any of Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare movies, you should. He does wonderful adaption of them, and they always have excellent casting.

Spiderman was cool when Gwen was alive, and when he teams up with Black Cat. Or when he's working with the Avengers. But by himself he's just a whiney, emo kid.

Kate Bekensale is in Much Ado About Nothing. Way back when she was little. When you first see her, you have a moment of "Who is that? She looks familiar." Then you figure out who it is and you're like "Holy crap! She'll so young."

I liked Van Helsing too, even if it did kind of suck.

The first X-Men was good, but they went downhill from there. And I must say that Cyclops is the only role I have not liked James Marsden in. And WTF did they do to Rogue? They made her a wuss. She was so badass in the comics. And there were three movies. They couldn't even reference Gambit, the best X-Man ever? Or Magneto's super amazing children? They better show up in his movie or there will be hell to pay.

yeshh where to start. well first off i'm a sucker for the classic disney movies. like sleeping beauty, beauty and the beast, little mermaid, cinderella, lion king, mulan. other than that i have a very limited selection of movies that i have actually watch more than once. that would include:

A Knights Tale
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Mummy I&II
Pride and Prejudice (both versions though the Extra long one is soo much better)
Big Daddy
Lovely Complex Movie
Swan Princess
Harry Potter
LOTR
National Treasure
Shrek ( I & II only )

and sadly that's about it. occasionally i'll go to the theater and see a new one, but normally that's the only time I watch it.

Phantom of the Opera (I just love the music, and my mother made me watch it over and over with her -_- I memorized the lines, that's the bad part.)
Beauty & the Beast
Howl's Moving Castle
The Cat Returns
Spirited Away
My Neighbor Totoro
Castle in the Sky
Princess Monoke
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Harry Potter
Lord of the Rings
National Treasure
I Am Legend
Transformers
The Mummy
Aladdin

I rarely watch movies anymore... so meh.

I HATE Phantom of the Opera, and it takes a lot to make me hate a musical. I do have one question, though, that maybe someone who knows the story better than me can answer. Was the instructor lady's daughter the child of the Phantom? Because I totally got the idea that she was.

I'm glad that there are guys who are willing to admit that they watch Disney movies. Most won't.

The only good thing about the Harry Potter movies is that, if you want to get a list of the greatest British actors of our time, you just have to look at the adult cast of Harry Potter. Every one of them is legendary.

I've never seen I Am Legend (has a Hogwarts teacher in it) or Transformers. I want to see both, though. I BADLY want to see Transformers. I grew up on it.

I only like National Treasure for Riley.

Um if by the intstructor lady you mean Madame Giry i don't think her daughter was the child of the phantom. i've never actually considered that as an option. That's an interesting observation though. i can't remember them actually saying. then again i've only seen the 2004 remake. so who knows, anythings possible. idea's anyone?
Hahah yeah Riley's my fav in national treasure. but i enjoy the storyline to a certain extent. i like the first better than the second though.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 03, 2008 8:46 pm

Yeah! Her! I've seen the play, some old version of the movie, and the 2004 one. Gerard Butler needs to die for thinking he can sing. And how the heck did that mask actually stay on? Anyway, out of all five times I've tried to watch it, I have never been able to get into the story. The only thing that ever holds my interest is Madame Giry and her daughter. Was the girl's name Meg? I need to read the book.

I amend what I said. I loved Carlotta too. (Just not Minnie Driver. They could have cast that movie SOO much butter. I didn't mind Miranda Richardson, though. I love Miranda Richardson. I was so excited when she got her five minute cameo in Harry Potter. No one could have done Rita Skeeter better. And of course she was AMAZING in Sleepy Hallow.)
