Didn't think I'd live, but I did. Got at the school at 7:30, got out at 1:00pm...and I'm still living. I almost didn't finish my essay because I can't freakin' write an essay with pencil...my hands get sweaty and the pencil slips and my hands get cramped... Well, I can't talk about any of the questions...though I almost burst out laughing at one point because of something in the article I had to read. I want to find that article, it was freakin' hilarious! So, I was studying with freerice.com last night, and here are two words that I can guarantee you'll probably never need: Baccanal (spelling? I just know the piece I love so much is spelled differently) - Drunken Revelry Misology- The Hatred of Reason That's my new philosophy of life, misology! xD Ok, so, I was trying to find also when the piccolo was invented, but this is the wikipedia article...whoever wrote it freakin' cracks jokes about piccolos throughout it! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PiccoloxD I almost died laughing. Also, all that talk about muffins the other day made me go and buy one for my lunch after the test. Chocolate chip! Yay muffins! So, the purpose of this thread? To discuss: heart SATs and other exams heart heart Random words and their meanings heart heart Wikipedia Randomness heart heart MUFFINS!!! heart P.S. - Speaking of Wikipedia, the track boys have made a game of making Wikipedia articles of the track players...one of them is "a British DJ that doubles as a pimp in Sweden" xD The article got banned because it seemed irrevelant or something, or there wasn't any citations...xD

I always write with pencils. Preferably with a mechanical one. I have one that is the same brand I've been using since like grade six. I prefer a pencil to pens because then you can just erase, without worry about white-out [which always somehow comes out whiter than the paper].
I hope you did great! Thank god I never had to take them.

- -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - I hate SATs. They can't mesure one's ability, in my opinion. I think they're absurd tools that are just made to make statistics and untie people who are tied close together in admissions in those big fish schools. I had such crappy results in mine, but apparently I'm getting into colleges pretty easily smile It's not what counts the most, I guess, it's just a plus. College people aren't stupid and I think they can see potential in the other components of an application. - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- -

I definitely prefer pens over pencils. Especially when I have to do a lot of writing. But on tests I usually use a pencil, just in case I make a mistake.
Congrats on making it through the SATs! >3< I haven't taken any major exams as of yet... I have to take the Literacy Test next year, and if I don't take it, I don't get to graduate. And once I'm done going through the courses to become a nurse in college, I have to take an exam to be a registered nurse... Blah. xD

I prefer pens over pencils. I dunno, I don't like how pencils break easily, and I can always carry pens in my purse X3

Hehe, now I'm craving more muffins. I hadn't had muffins in so long until I indulged after my SATs yesterday, now I want more...but my dad brought home cheese, and that was good!
I wish they would've let me use a mechanical! Ugh! I hate regular pencils... >.<
The thing I mainly hate about the SATs is actually the english, because its absolutely absurd...what do they want us to freakin' do, study the bloody dictionary? I found ways around a lot of words...and it helped in the middle school classroom there were posters -cough- they forgot to take down about prefixes...I didn't cheat! I couldn't look that way without making it look like I was, but I did look at it before I started my test.
I think June is when I'm going to take my SAT IIs, the subject exams. I want to take the Chemistry, Biology, and one of the Maths. Just because I'm considering BioChemistry as a major. I have to look and see if the colleges I'm applying for want the ACTs.
So, after my test, I've done absolutely nothing except for some History homework. Felt absolutely wonderous! We just watched a Mel Brookes Movie, I never knew he did a Dracula one, but it was hilarious! I love Mel Brookes!

I actually use the term bacchanalia on a day-to-day basis. Then again, I also am a Latin geek who thinks that Lupercalia needs to be celebrated again, complete with the leather speedos and drunken revelry.
So there.
I took the SATs this year as well.
Everything except math was damn easy. I was surprised, especially as I got next to no sleep the night before due to my parents giving me the wrong time for the test (they said ten. It was at 7:30. LOL THANKS MOM~).
To be honest, the best thing about the whole ordeal was frightening the bitsy kids who were there as well.
I'd make such a good creepy old man, it's not even funny. Actually, yes it is.

So are the SATs maybe the kind of test where the hype about it is worse than the actual test?

@MoonTree: Oh my goodness! I'd love to do so! I mainly talk about the piece by Saint-Saens, we played it in orchestra and our conductor was talking about how it was about men going to a place with exotic dancers...and stuff and he continues on and he gasps and says, "Oh my god, I'm so fired for telling you all this!" xD I loved this conductor.
I got freaked out, because it was supposed to be at the high school of another school, and I went there, and they said it was in the middle school because there was a Odessey of the Mind comp. at the high school...so five minutes of getting lost in the school trying to find the bridge to the middle school, I got upset, then had the brilliant idea of actually walking around the outside way! xD
@Sailor_ChibiI really don't know. I'm afraid if I say anything, in the effect I felt they weren't that bad, I'll be really disappointed with what I did. So I'm leaving my opinion to them until I get my score. But you can check out a practice SAT on the college board site. (http://www.collegeboard.com/testing/)
The essay was basically an opinion essay, they give you a topic, and you talk about whether you agree or disagree. Ok...they've released my essay, so I guess I can discuss it. Basically, they asked if groups or organizations should encourage individuals to go for their individual goals and wishes. I basically said, no, the whole purpose of groups and organizations is to work as a team! ^_^
