At my high school many teachers and assorted staff members feel wikipedia is "unreliable" only because others are able to add info as they see fit, now the thing is i see wikipedia as a great website not only is it a charity but they also realize that they may be wrong so they allow people to add and change things to the correct info, because of this many people see the website as a horrid place were kids just edit the word "boobs" 1000 times on a page now i want to see what you think and your opinion is about wikipedia

I love it, plus if people really wanna get picky about sources there is usually a works cited section at the bottom that shows other areas where the info can be found xp

shadow_ninjette I love it, plus if people really wanna get picky about sources there is usually a works cited section at the bottom that shows other areas where the info can be found xp i know what you mean i only use wikipedia it's easy i just use their cited

Dude, I can totally relate. The teachers at my school are the same. But here’s the kicker. :3 They don’t like wiki because they KNOW anyone can change the info. However, out on more “reliable” websites a single person or small group of people run it so they could do the exact same stuff. Oh but that’s different entirely, as my teacher told me. Ignorance is bliss much?

Roxas_fan Dude, I can totally relate. The teachers at my school are the same. But here’s the kicker. :3 They don’t like wiki because they KNOW anyone can change the info. However, out on more “reliable” websites a single person or small group of people run it so they could do the exact same stuff. Oh but that’s different entirely, as my teacher told me. Ignorance is bliss much? i completely agree our librarian gets so worked up about some people ruining the political candidates that she starts to cry

I only use .edu sites, or other 'credible' sources for scholarly works. The only thing I've got against wikipedia is that I edit it sometimes, and if someone like me does so, it's pretty much guaranteed there are others who just cram their own opinions and stuff into random articles.
Plus, the moderators always reject pages I make in my own honour. Seem to think I'm not important enough, or something. >_<.

I really don't care if a teacher barks orders at us not to use it. They say you can't use it but I do all the time. I just don't put it in my references.
