I once played a piece that my old conductor composed called "Butterflies and Ponies.". It was really weird!

Jenn_antiviolahater We're playing Pop Goes the Weasel... and we're taking it to competition. rofl I love my orchestra teacher. You guys playing anything like this? If I'm not mistaken, that's not what the songs really called, right? I can't quite remember it, but I was aware of that earlier this year.

@Karo that sounds like an interesting one. XP. I think it would be hard to have a conductor conducting a piece they wrote. I like the name anyway though! @Isake Oh no, it's called Pop Goes the Weasel. All around the mullberry bush, the monkey chased the weasel. The monkey thought t'was all in fun. Pop! Goes the weasel. It's just the tune though, no one is singing.

We had a wierd one called Kachina, and 'nother one called Fire Dance. Fire Dance was so weird, because they made all the brass do vocals! in one measure!

We played this one Polka by Stravinsky (I think) that was absolutely ridiculous. It was supposed to be poking fun at Stalin and it even had teh brass making farting noises. It was hilarious! rofl ninja

Hmm the weirdest song I've played so far in my orchestra was probably Orange Jam and Sabre Dance >_O"
The last concert I had , we played Orange Jam in the dark with glow sticks O_O" And my orchestra teacher had the glow stick as a baton!

Oh boy! I remember a piece i played at orchestra camp a few years ago...American Salute (a lovely compilation of all those really patriotic songs like when johnny comes marching home again, the national anthem, you're a grand old flag, and to top it all off, God Bless America). The piece was fine, but it was really random and moderately obnoxious.
