Kiuma paced restlessly, always forward with her eyes fixed on some distant point. Behind her lay a place she had visited only twice, and both times it had been... unsatisfying, to say the least. Damn her brother... she just didn't understand him. Why he wanted to stay, when he could have had so much more with her... it was beyond explaining.
The red lioness scowled as she stepped out smartly, picking up her pace a little. Had to move faster... had to get as far away from that cursed place as possible. And just where the hell was Baala? The small, black lioness was such a comfort to her... she was never the same without her nearby. How strange it was, to change so much in so sort a time... to go from helplessly broken to whole and strong, all by finding that one, that special one.
Kiuma's eyes turning from staring ahead to sweep her gaze around her, hoping to find her companion, or even the place she'd left her to wait will she visited the Kusini lands.

Kannah felt eyes gaze over her as she lay hunched down in the tall grasses, her attempt and being unseen would most likely have worked had she not flicked her tail and sat up. She couldnt stay that way forever, plus it was only a lone female lioness in the distance.
Inhaling deeply she filled her lungs with crisp cool air, in an attempt to cool her head and forget her rumbling stomach. The lioness had spent nearly all day tracking and had little to show for it, but a patch of hair she had managed to pull from her prey before it had eluded her fully.
She was irritated, hunger often made her so and her head strong nature over rode her caution and common sence. She didnt care if the lioness was part of the rightful owner of these lands, for she had lost place of where her paws had taken her. No, she just wanted food. As if on cue her stomach rumbled again and she snorted, exhaling, green eyes glancing into the distance at the red lioness.

A sound to the side caught Kiuma's attention and she turned with a hopeful expression. Could that be Baala?
Her smile was aborted before it began, a small frown forming as she noticed another red lioness, not too far away, watching her. Kiuma relaxed a little though, seeing that it was a lioness and not one of the Kusini's hunters. Baala was so far along in her pregnancy that Kiuma didn't trust a male anywhere near her. At least another female shouldn't be a threat.
After a moment, Kiuma smiled a greeting and raised her head, giving a nod since she didn't care to shout over this distance. When an idea occured to her, she turned and paced towards the stranger, waiting till she was closer before raising her voice.
"Greetings, Friend." She called. "Have you happened to have seen a black and yellow lioness, heavy with cubs, around here?" Her black-tipped tail flicked as she moved closer, coming to stand at a respectful distance from the seated female.

Kannah watched as the female approched her, she sat still against the grass but for the tip of her tail which swished softly between her paws. Her emerald eyes watched the female, whom was many moons older than she. Graced with wisdom due her age, Kannah noted her body language as she appoched.
Perhaps she was looking for her daughter, if she was as heavy with cubs as discribed it would explain her worried expression. A small smile pulled at her lips as she shook her head quietly from side to side. "No, I cant say that I have.. Then again my mind has been on game and not those around me for some time now. She could have snuck by me unseen." Her worlds where truthful, as she had for awhile now been tunneled in on tracking her prey which left her still with an empty stomach.

Kiuma bit back a sigh of disappointment as she shook her head, looking around herself with an irritable expression. With her own belly rounding out and Baala even worse of than she was, it just wasn't safe for them to be alone... at least Azhara should be with her. Kiuma's niece was a kind girl and she wouldn't let Baala go too far on her own.
"Then I guess its no use to ask if you've seen a white and brown lioness either..." She chuckled as she shook her head, the bones in the necklace she wore rattling softly. Her eyes finally returned to the lioness before her and she studied her carefully, noting the nice red color of her coat. Maybe Kiuma was a little biased, but she did like red on a lion or lioness. It was such a fierce color, really. "You were hunting game?" She asked, her soft ears perking forward. "I didn't disturb you, did I? I apologize if I chased away your prey..."
Red eyes flitted about, trying to see if there were any food animals running for their lives. Now that she thought about it... she hadn't eaten in a long while either. Too buisy traveling, then that meeting with her brother...

Kannah shook her head as she looked at the crimson lioness before her. "Sad to say I didnt see anyone. Wish that I had so I could have pointed you in the right direction. I am sure they couldnt have gotten to far ahead of you." she said in an attempt to be helpful.
"Oh, no. " she said shaking her head. "You did nothing to chase them off." she glanced down at her paws and lightly kneeded against the soil sheepishly. "I..well I let my stomach get the better of me. " she raised her paw and puffed at the tawny hair of the prey that had gotten away. The hair scattered and blew away on the wind into the tall savannah grasses. "I shouldnt have sprang so soon. " she said, for now her pride was wounded and her stomach was still as empty as it had been before.
She looked up at the lioness and flashed her a smile. "I appologise for my manners, My name is Kannah. "

Kiuma smiled as she watched the other, the bit of fur catching her eye as it flew away. "My name is Kiuma, and it is an honor to meet you." She said, her voice quite sincere.
A rumble in her stomach pulled the former princess back to herself and she cast Kannah a side-long look. "Mmm... I don't suppose you'd be up to try again? If we hunt together, our odds of catching something are twice as good. I havn't eaten today either and I could use a good meal. What do you say?"
It was odd, this affinity for a rogue. Once, she had thought them the scum of the earth, those who didn't have a pride to belong to. Surely if there were fit to be in a pride, they would be. Experience had taught the proud princess otherwise and her views had slowly begun to change. Of course, Baala was a big reason for that, but only one of many. Turning from her new friend, Kiuma lifted her head to scent the wind, rounded ears perked to catch an telltale sign of prey nearby.

Kannah smiled softly and nodded her head as she heard the light rumbling of the others stomach. A chuckle escaped her as she stood up, giving her long body a shake before her emerald eyes looked across the Savannah. "More than willing to try again, and from the sound of it my stomach isnt far behind yours." The red lioness was finding her own views tested as she traveled the lands, alone. She hadnt really found anywhere she belonged. She wasnt a lioness of dance or song, she wasnt ruthless and blood thirsty. She was Kannah.
"There" she said, her voice a harsh whisper as off in the distance she spotted a young waterbuck. Most likely from this seasons rut. It had unknowingly wandered away from the rest of the herd and could, provided the two of them worked together, be easy prey.

The former princess oriented on the buck that Kannah picked out, nodding as her eyes locked on it.
"I'll get between it and the herd, chaise it towards you." She murmured as she sank down a little, preparing for her slinking glide into the grass. Despite how brightly she stood from the grass, years of practice let her slide easily into the tall stalks, loosing herself among them with a flick of her black-tipped tail. From the air, she might have been noticeable, but with her creamy stomach nearly touching the ground, there was little chance of anything seeing her till they were nearly upon her.
Trusting Kannah to do her part, Kiuma circled around between the young buck and the safety of his herd, putting herself squarely in his most likely route of flight. If she burst out and caused enough fright with enough surprise, he might just bolt in the opposite direction... and right to the waiting Kannah. Ah, the beauty of hunting in a group and the idiocy of prey beasts.
Slinking into place and coming to a stop, she raised her head just enough to search for Kannah, hoping to catch some sign that she was in place and ready.

Kannah followed the other females lead and crouched down low in the grass. The tawny grass at first did little to hide her rust colored fur, but as she slowly began to move she began to blend into the stalks. Slowly now, careful she moved barely a hairs breath above the soil.
She watched and waited, her body poised to spring at the slightest movement of the young buck. She smiled a little, hunting with two was always twice as rewarding. With the right plan and tactic you could guarentee yourself a meal, and as for the buck...she could already taste his fine flesh.
Kannah waited for the right moment, watching in the distance for her new compainion to set things into motion. Her muscles ached, coiled tightly for the strike but she pushed all those thoughts from her mind. She wouldnt miss her second chance for a meal today.

The young buck was moving, making it hard for Kiuma to keep herself between him and the herd without spooking either of them. One wrong step, one sound that stuck out, and that would be end of it. The prey would be off in a flash of heals, and neither lioness would be able to catch them.
Kiuma swore to herself as the buck began to move back towards safety, perhaps finally realizing with his tiny brain that he wasn't safe where he was. The time was now, or never, and if he moved more it would be too late. With a fierce battle cry, the red lioness burst into view, lunging at the buck with claws and fangs bared. It was a deadly rush, one that would end in his demise if it caught him, but that wasn't its true purpose. Victory flooded Kiuma with relief as the buck startled and dashed in the opposite direction, away from the herd that took fright as well and ran for it. Now it was all up to Kannah, hopefully hidden in the grass at the most oportune place to intercept the buck before he even knew what had happened.

Emerald eyes glinted in the tall grasses of the savannah as the huntress watched and waited. She scarcely breathed as watched the young buck, her muscles aching to spring as she watched him dangerously start moving away to join with the heard again. Her eyes could scarcely believe what they saw when the streak of red jumped from the grasses and spurred the buck towards her and sent the rest of the heard running away.
"Brilliant!"
She watched him, counting down his hoofbeats as he neared. She sprang. Long body in midflight she felt his hard flank and tasted hot sweet blood. In an instant it was all over, she had clawed him to the ground and finally fished him with her jaws clamped around his neck. Painless, for the most part.

Kiuma loped up to Kannah and their prey with a hard smile, her lips pulled back as she panted softly for air. She was actually rather glad that she'd met Kannah today... she was a good huntress and they made a good team. With her pregnancy finally far enough along to start slowing her down, having someone to make the final kill was a gods' send.
When she finally caught up, she chuckled softly and patted the prey's rump with a large paw. "That was a fantastic kill, Kannah." She said, her voice heavy with approval. "You're obviously a good hunter. I'm greatful to you, for helping with this. Shall we dig in, then, and share the spoils of our hunt?" She felt quite warm towards this lioness, feeling a conection between them. Obviously not like what she felt with Baala, but a soft of affiliation to her. They were alike in many ways and it helped ease the normally prickly lioness into something like friendliness.

Kannah relished the taste of the warm blood against her tongue and licked her chops clean as she waited for her new found companion to join her. They had made the hunt together and should enough the spoils thusly. Besides it would be rude to dig in with out her. Looking down at the young buck she thanked the gods for there plenty and the buck himself for giving his life so that she and her companion could better survive.
Curling her tail around her paws she nodded softly, a smile on her face as her breath slowly calmed from the race of the hunt. "Good hunting! I dare say had either of us been alone we would still be going hungry. Always better chances with numbers. The Gods have smiled on us today to bring us together..and with full bellys." she laughed heartily and nodded to Kiuma to begin.

The former Pridelander snorted as she padded to the kill and settled beside it, starting to tear into it with her sharp fangs.
"In my expirience, the gods are too buisy with their own little squabbles and drama to care what mortals do or don't. I think all the credit for this can go to us." She said as she gulped down the red flesh, finding herself more hungry than any regular lioness had a right to be. She had a few very good reasons growing in her belly and the hunger recalled to her the first litter and how hungry she had been with them. She hoped it was a sign of good growth. Surely, if they were unhealthy, she wouldn't be so god-awful hungry all the time.
"So... where are you off to... after this?" She said between tearing off chunks and swallowing them down. Kiuma was curious about this lioness and after her plan had begun to shape in her mind, she had started keeping her eye open for good lionesses like her. Not every one of them might be interested in what she had in mind, but it was always worth a shot.
