I was very surprised when I happened across this site: RPG Maker VXEverything about it is an improvement except the battle system. Events are much easier, creating maps is easier, and they added an option so you can add a character picture to text. However, the battles have converted back to RPG Maker 2 status. There is no longer a picture of the characters. I hope someone creates a script to make a better battle system soon. I think it will be a very good choice for the guild project despite the battle system setback.

I've created a quick game with the trial version. If you want to see RPG Maker VX's basic features, you should download it and play it. I think it let me include the RTP, which is needed to play it, but if it's not included, you can download it from the RPG Maker VX official website. http://www.mediafire.com/?zdy2xtpyjqm

Well I'll try the game that you made, and then I'll download the program.
I think this is probably going to be the program we use!

Excellent. I didn't know this was coming out so soon. Once I get my comp back I'll have to dl the trial.

whoever needs help with mapping can ask me but i wont download it it seems useless to me it has chibi characters, ((which i do not much care for.)) and a retarted battle system that was left behind a while ago for obvious reasons. sorry but i wont be using it, thats just my opinion though.

I don't care much for the chibi look either, they look too squished, and I like to be able to see a bit more detail on clothing and stuff, not just their fat heads...

Honestly, if you don't like the look of the RTP characters, you can always just make your own.
EDIT: I tried it out; it's eerie, how the graphics recieved a HUGE upgrade, but they went back to the RM2K/RM2K3 sound effects. o.o;;
At any rate, I grabbed the animation and parallax files for use in my XP games. I have no plans to use VX.

I'm not to picky really, i kinda' like to RTP and such. Some of the music is a little bland, but i think its a BIG improvement on RMXP, even if it is mostly rip offs of older makers, and other games.
its more suited for quickly building ore classic style games, which i feel is a BIG plus. RMXP has it upper hands, but overall, both makers are TOTALLY different, meant to make different kinds of games, so its not real fair to compare them.
Both are great.

I honestly didn't check out too much of the sound effects or music, even though I bought VX...I've yet to really use it. I suppose I like XP better because I'm familiar with it.

I don't like XP too much, but I have yet to try VX. Mainly cause I'm afraid I'll like it and want to spend money on it. xD But I just didn't like the feel for XP, for now, I think I'll stick to 2003. 8]
