A wave crashed up against the snowy shore, making a sound Vieno just couldn't explain. The earth beneath the snow was different from the sort she'd seen every other day, but the mare wasn't quite sure how to explain the differences. Grainier, perhaps, with a more vibrant sort of color... No, it was just different. Strange rocks littered the snow, the mare leaned down to look at one to find it had strange patterns on the top of it. Snorting slightly, Vieno blew the snow off the top of the shell and examined it further. Since when were rocks strange colors and in all different shapes? She'd never seen such things in all her years and it was definitely interesting to see all the individual things that made this area so special.
There were less trees around, the strange soil seemed to keep them from growing up. Also, the water was different... it had a thick scent about it, like salt and humid weather. She came to find she liked the scent, it was refreshing, relaxing almost... as well as the sound of the waves crashing up against the shore. At that time, she noticed something else about the water that didn't seem quite right. The water hadn't frozen over like the lake or river! It was... still water. Vieno couldn't believe her eyes so she quickly trotted up to the river, sticking her two front hooves in it before leaning down to poke at it with her long nose. Freezing! That's what it was! And then, before the mare could do anything a wave came and crashed up against her, getting most of her body and face wet with the salty water.
Okay, she'd had enough of that nonsense! Quickly, she hauled herself out of the water and flicked her tail at the ocean as if to say, hah take that! Then, as if it wanted to reply back, the waves crashed up against the shore catching the backs of her rear hooves. Wasn't exactly how she'd planned her get away, sort of humiliating really. Sighing, she laughed slightly and trudged away from the seemingly angry water and turned to look back at it when she was out of range.
Vast, clear and never ending seemed this large body of water. Even the lake seemed to have another side but this place was different. A chill ran through the mare's spine, causing her to shiver a bit while giggling. "How silly of me... playing in water in cold weather..." she said to herself, knowing she should have stayed away from the intriguing water and long ranged, angry waves.
(( Sorry, I kinda suck at starting. e-e; ))

My, my! This world still was so new and strange! The young stallion trotted lightly along the shore while the winter storm continued to sway and whisp around the flakes of snow on the ground, drifting it onwards in a rather captivating and elusive manner that lured the stallions attention. But even so the realization of being alone without his brothers caused Kidono's lips to quiver, pursed slightly with an uncertain and rather shy expression as he tucked his wings closer to his body. Where was Duzi? His troublesome brother must be somewhere lurking within this world since he had seen him fall when the gods and hosts of Heaven had thrown him out after he himself had been casted from out of their presence. And Raiju? What of him? Kidono didn't know.
Would he ever know?
Perhaps not. It seemed that even the gods above had a tricky way of covering up some truths that those below or other hosts were to forget or not witness.
As a gentle, chilling breeze caressed against his skin, Kidono frowned. His stoney-thick skin prevented him from enjoying the simple pleasures and sensations that many others seemed to take for granite. Though even as thick fur seemed to cover his body and an odd horn rose from out of the top of his head, the stallion longed to be returned to the angelic and glorious from which he rightfully should be. But alas, it seems that the a wrong accusation stirred up against him had made him become something so vastly different and stripped of such glory which could never be returned to him. Along with fragmented and shattered memories, Kidono was less than whole and not nearly as perfect like one would expect an Angeni to be. He was simply- well, even he couldn't find a word for it nor a description as all of these emotions, all of these thoughts and realizations were so strange! Unable to define his thoughts or organize himself Kidono constantly felt tense, guilty and stubborn with a lack of ability to make up his mind.
Why, oh why was this so hard!
With a sigh escaping from out of his nostrils and becoming a misty wreath about his muzzle, the stallion meandered onwards as his eyes fell away from the snow drift below and, once again, became lured towards the curls and crashes of the sea.
Ah- this was the ocean, wasn't it? It seemed strange and with that sour, salty pungent smell that wafted within the air seemed to hurt his eyes and cause him to wrinkle his muzzle slightly. It certainly was strange to see the motion of water still flowing so freely without being frozen and held in place but that sound- that strange, soothing sound as the water rumbled and seemed to solace a song of its own hit his ear with such a lovely song of unseen sirens! Kidono couldn't help but cant his head slightly, coming closer as his wings wrapped around his body in a slightly hesitant manner.
"What a silly thing, this ocean is!" He mused, his voice meek and soft as he drew closer. As the waves rolled and crashed, Kidono seemed to gasp slightly. What- what was this? A mare? Oh goodness! for a moment he felt his breathe constricted and his body tense. Females always made him nervous- he was never good at talking to them yet, on the other hoof, he could be quite a sweet talker and rather smooth tounged if he felt comfortable but most of the times that was out of his comfort zone.
Kidono was a meek, gentle and kind soul who became guilty if he offended anyone or did something rather- well, out of his element. And even now he felt so far from comfort that he whined softly to himself and tried to find a good place to run or hide or-
Wait.
He did have wings.
Well that made everything a bit better!
But he couldn't be rude. No. Well- he didn't even know her so what was the harm in not saying 'hello'? On already his mind was become stubborn and indecisive! He stomped his hoof, frowning a bit as he intook a deep breath and willed up some courage.
"Hey-Hey there..." he called out, willing a smile upon his maw as he curled his tail around his right, back leg. "What are you doing playing in the water? Is-isn't it cold out there?"
Okay. So not the greatest start but it was some sort of start right?

Ears flickered back, Vieno's body tensed up and her tail stopped swaying behind her. All was silent for a moment, the wind picked up, causing a few trees to blow in a gentle motion behind her before it was silent again. The mare could have sworn she'd heard something, she knew her ears weren't failing her yet. Being young and far from old, the femme knew her hearing was fit as a fiddle, unless she was developing hard hearing from other things, but she doubted that. Quickly she scanned the area, trying to catch a glimpse of anything that could explain the sound she heard. Nothing, she saw absolutely nothing... had it just been the wind or was she really beginning to lose her mind?
Just when she was about to give up looking, Vieno noticed something blue and feathery in the distance. Her ears flattened against her skull for a short moment while she backed up, studying the strange figure. Well, it certainly didn't look mean... Okay, okay, so she wasn't the bravest horse of all time but she did have some sort of brave genes or whatever you'd call them. Taking a step forward, landing in her original spot, she began to examine the stallion... He was a beautiful creature with large wings, a short, flowing mane and a strange horn on the top of his head. The tail of the stallion was strange as well, for instead of long, silken locks like hers, it looked almost ferret-like, with a furrier tip. Curious, Vieno tilted her head, trying to remember if she'd ever seen anything quite like it.
As she slowly moved closer, it seemed like the male was nervous or unsettled, this fact made her stop in her tracks. She didn't want to make anyone feel like she was dangerous or unpleasant... but what if she really was? What if all along, she'd been nasty to the horses she met, the friends she thought she'd made... Well, this was troublesome, if she was a nasty mare with evil intentions that even she didn't know about, she should have been locked away! No one had locked her up yet, so she was going to make sure she was as pleasant and honey-sweet as possible.
Her mind, off in its own world, having its own conversation snapped back to reality when the stallion questioned her "playtime" in the water. She chuckled a little sheepishly at that and hung her head, "I... was fighting with it really... It's not very nice!" Clearing her voice, she continued what she was saying, "What I mean is... well... I was surprised, because this water isn't quite the same as the lake or river, it's not ice!" She was still shivering from the water freezing to bits of her feather-covered hooves and body, "I did learn my lesson though! Now I'm cold, and my lesson of the day was... curiosity not only killed the cat... it makes a horse an ice cube!"

A gentle, sweet smile lengthened across his maw as he laughed softly, his wings loosening their grip from around his body as they settled against his side and tucked close. Ah- so it was curiosity? Even he had ventured off in search of that strange, tingling sensation that seemed to pulse from his hooves and all around his body; it was one of those desires or needs that simply could not be avoided! His thick, lions tail gave a gentle sway as it swept away snow from upon the sands while he shifted his weight from his front hooves.
"Fighting with the water? The waves are rather tricky aren't they? They aren't the friendliest I'm afraid but they do make such beautiful sounds and songs along with the sands they crash against, don't they?"
Kidono mused with a tender smile, nodding his head as his brows knitted in a musing, contemplative fashion. Slowly he was begining to loosen up and feel relaxed, remembering to take deep breaths and keep a calm composure aside from the fact that he was separated from his brothers, he didn't have a home, something could eat hi- Okay, okay. Enough with the bad thoughts! The stallion shook his head as his white and crimson tipped mane swayed with a whisping moiton, a dainty and rather elegant display as front bangs covered his left eye slightly. "Oh yes-," he continued.
"The ocean is something so different from the lakes and rivers yet I think it has just as much power and beauty if not a bit more, really. I do fear that if it was frozen that many of those strange creatures wouldn't survive but perhaps in my own guilty fantasy I do wish that I could walk upon the ocean- it would be fascinating!"
Oh yes! Wouldn't it be something? To walk on the ocean and to perhaps view its life in a sort of unique setting? It seemed something so surreal but the thought of it seemed to stir up such mystery that Kidono seemed to smile a bit wider. He chuckled to himself as he was begining to feel more at ease and quite comfortable.
Though as he stood there comfortable and rather well, the Anguni wasn't dull to notice that the mare herself must have caught a chill from fighting and rummaging within the waves. He frowned slightly, a little concerned about the mare. It was one thing to go and play within the ocean and sink ones hooves into its domain of waves but to seek its thrills in winter? It seemed dangerous to Kidono and being one who didn't quite have that brave streak or sense of dire, dangerous thrills he couldn't help but feel a bit guilty that he was simply standing there and not doing anything.
Well- what could he do?
"Oh dear- you must be freezing! I- uh... perhaps I can help you? There are a few caves up behind the cliffs or I could wrap you in my wings or try to keep you warm." His eyes suddenly went wide as he gasped. "I mean not like trying to do anything innapropriate or...what I mean is that seeing you stand there shivering makes me just wan-"
No matter how he tried to word it, Kidono knew that it wasn't coming out right. He sighed, curling his wings around his face and trying to hide the flush of pink that seized his cheeks. Oh my! This was not going to well, wan't it? What would she think of him? She didn't even know his name and would probably run off and be scared of him and then the big scary mutant would try to harm him again and people would be hurt and-
Okay!
His mind seemed to always get the best of him when he was nervous! Even his front legs seemed to tremble as he continued putting up a wall of wings around himself and the mare.
"I am soooooo sorry..." Kidono whined. "I should probably go..."

"Waves... Hmmm..." Vieno sighed, speaking very softly with her very feminine, musical voice. "They are quite lovely, aren't they? And I love the smell around here! Even if it is just salty and thick," she admitted. The mare was now in love with the ocean, it was probably her favourite place even if she hadn't been all over just yet. You could still have a favourite when you hadn't discovered everything, right? Of course you could!
Vieno's body quivered again, she wasn't really that cold, was she? Then again... getting wet in the winter time wasn't exactly... smart. Not that anyone said she had brains in the first place! Nodding as he spoke, she agreed with everything he said, "Yes, that'd be a terrible tragedy if the water mammals died..." Tilting her head, the mare looked out at the ocean again, thousands of questions entering her mind and leaving just as quickly. Finally, she looked back to the winged stallion and sighed happily, "I'm glad they're all safe from the ice down at the bottom of the ocean, you called it? I wonder what happens to all the fish in the lakes when they freeze," Vieno questioned, sort of talking to herself, "I bet it doesn't freeze all the way to the bottom though."
The next thought of his made her smile, "Walking on the water? Yes, that would be quite a thrill!" She too had many guilty fantasies she would have liked to indulge in, walking on water hadn't been one of them but she decided at that moment she would have to add it to her list. What a strange and joyful pastime it would be!
Surprised once again, this time by the thoughtfulness of the stallion, Vieno was due to the stallion's catching of her shivering. While he offered to wrap her in his wings and find shelter for her she only smiled, quite pleased that she'd found such a nice horse to socialize with. When he seemed to be appalled by his own words, the mare giggled sincerely and nudged him carefully with her nose. "Makes you want to what?" she urged, a twinkle of amusement in her eyes. "Help me?" she then offered, not wanting to embarrass him any further.
He turned, which made her in turn frown and look at him with deep, caring, brown eyes. "I'd be sad if you left... I haven't even learned your name yet.." Vieno offered, continuing with her soft voice, "And... I'm actually very grateful that you cared enough to ask you know... Not everybody's words come out right the first time, right?" She hoped she was making it better and not worse, 'cause she too felt that she was making the atmosphere somewhat... unpleasant.

From behind his wall of feathers, Kidono peeked up slightly with a slight nod of his head. He wa still rather embarrased and a bit shy but he coudn't help but smile just a bit. "Ye-yes. The ocean is quite amazing, really. Why there are so many oceanic mammals and unique creatures that it would be a terrible shame to see them suddenly vanish, wouldn't it?" The anguni gave a small chuckle, his plush and thick tail wrapping around his legs as he bit his lower lip ever so slightly. "I'd imagine that the fish would be able to still...well, still live? From what I remember only a certain thickness of water becomes frozen- so perhaps they are swimming in streams, lakes and river merrily while we're freezing up here," the stallion mused.
The wings around him slowly dropped just enough for Kidono to stare at the mare for several moments until she giggled at his rather odd display of guilt, embarrasment and self-humiliation. For a moment his ears flickered and swayed back against his skul until he felt a small nudge press against his nose. At that moment it seemed as if a flood of the brightest red and pink seized his cheeks as he sheepishly laughed.
"Ye-ye-yes. It- makes me want to help you. I mean, well- you see...from being up there," he motioned upwards with both his nose and wings towards the Heavens, "to being down here is very sad. It seems that there is never enough help to be given out sometimes."
Indeed it was sad. Even in the back of his mind it seemed even more tragic to think that of all places he and his brothers had been cast from out of the hosts of Heaven and down into this world. Sure it wasn't perfect or ideal but the more and more that Kidono acquainted himself with the many who called this strange place 'home' it seemed as if the gods above had a skewed opinion of these lands. Give or take it wasn't as 'perfect' and prestine as above but individuals still held qualities and attributes that even those above seemed to lack or, most often, forget. There were just as many courageous souls down here as there were up in the clouds above in Kidono's opinion! And already it was becoming clear that maybe Heaven wasn't that great after all. It did have its perks but having to live with all of those other Angeni who were pure and regal seemed- well, such a drag. One way or another, Kidono was both sad that he could never return and relatively pleased to have to be stuck down in these lands.
Although there was a part of him that certainly thought that perhaps the mare would think of him crazy, Kidono simply smiled and pursed his lips ever so slightly as he looked up into the mares eyes.
"I...don't think I'll be going too soon," he laughed softly, lowering his wings a bit more. "This is my home now and I-I think I'm starting to like it." Kidono gave a simple nod of his head, shifting his weight slightly nervously from forehoof to forehoof. "You're welcome- I mean, helping people is better than doing nothing right? And yes- I'm afraid that's too true. I... hope that I haven't made a bad first impression- I'm not quite skilled in these face to face greetins," Kidono laughed a bit, shaking his head once again as his shoulders relaxed.
"I can't remember the last time I talked to someone- it's been a long time but I'm really...really enjoying it."
Withdrawing his wings from his face and slowly tucking them against his back, Kidono lowered his head and bent one knee- showing respect and of course chivalry due to the presence of a lady.
"Forgive me for not introducing myself sooner; my name is Kidono. And you m'lady?"

Vieno nodded about the fish comment, he was probably right... ice froze downwards and not upwards so it was probably true that the whole lake wasn't frozen. The mare was glad, because she certainly didn't want to see all the fish dying in the winter time. In fact, that wouldn't be good at all because all the fish in the world would be extinct. That wouldn't be good for animals that ate fish, like bears, and things in the water. Even the Indians would be in trouble. Vieno shook her head, smiling slightly, the things she thought about... it was a good thing nobody could read her mind!
Attention back on the stallion, Vieno watched him look to the sky, mentioning that he'd been up there? Did he mean flying? The poor mare was incredibly naive and knew little about anything... she'd been locked away with her family since she was a filly... but the mare dared not speak of those times. Tilting her head curiously, she spoke softly, "You mean... you can fly... and when you're flying, right? By being up there?" Okay, so maybe that wasn't the smartest question in the world but she didn't understand what he'd meant. Was there someplace in the sky only winged animals could see? At that point in time, Vieno began dreaming of flying... soaring the skies like an eagle while she looked down on everything below her. Well, it certainly would have taken less time to explore, she figured!
"I'm glad you're not leaving, though... You're very sweet and kind and... I'm sort of new around here as well! It's not really that hard to make friends I suppose but it's nice to meet kind horses like yourself, really makes the area that much more wonderful, don't you think?" the mare questioned, trying to hide her quivering body the best she could. She cursed the fact that the only fur on her body that seemed to be long was her mane, tail and feathers on her feet. The rest offered little protection from the wind, but was less noticeable when she was dry.
"I think it's nice that we're speaking and... you do better than you think with face to face greetings," Vieno smiled. She tilted her head slightly, letting her mane fall out of the way of her face to reveal happy, sparkling eyes. It was strange... often when one talked about their homes Vieno would distance herself... today she was having such a great time she barely noticed. Perhaps that was all she needed, to be distracted enough to give time a chance to heal the past... maybe friends were the key to a bright future. If that was the case, then her approach to her new life was going to be successful.
"My name...? I'm surprised I haven't told you! I normally blabber on about myself too much," she sighed, shaking her head, "My name's Vieno, pleased to meet you, Kidono!" In truth, she didn't talk about herself much... Vieno was a horse who liked to give others their chance to shine. But, all she saw in herself was flaws, flaws and more flaws, so good luck trying to convince her of that.

The young Anguni smiled as his eyes watched the mares expression and slightly puzzled look. It certainly was strange trying to explain his own mess of horlicks which he and his brother had gotten into but even so it seemed that the poor mare was simply confused and a bit lost. Well there was no sense in confusing her, right? Kidono already was begining to feel a bit guilty that he was the cause for her lack of understanding.
For a moment the stallion canted his head with a minor purse of his lips, ears flicking as he exhaled softly while the words and exact formatting of how to explain such a complex and perhaps strange concept to her seemed a bit frightening!
"Yes, I can fly," he laughed softly, nodding his head as his light-blue locks swayed gently. Kidono wiggled his head wings slightly while he curled his thick, bushy tail around his left, back leg. "You see- there are some soquili who can fly that have wings like eagles, butterflies or even those with wings like bats who are said to be 'Raven Blessed'. But then there are those who have elegant, feather wings which consist of four wings rather than two; those individuals are called Angeni and they are able to fly higher than any other flying breed." His words were careful- hoping to make it somewhat a bit easier and simple to understand. Although as he spoke, Kidono couldn't help but continue to smile as some unseen, invalid caused him to feel great sadness.
"There is a place- Heaven, many call it, where Angeni gather and live. I myself use to live there with my brothers- well, that was before I was charged with treason against the gods and found guilty," he continued, biting his lower lip. "I use to have another set of wings but they stripped them from me along with my glory and..and well here I am!"
Kidono managed to chuckle softly but the hurt and minor pain was audible within his voice. How it racked his soul that he could never return! But on the other hand, he was becoming more and more fond of these lands and at least he could still fly though without his second pair of wings it was made certain that he could never return back to Heaven. His brows knitted slightly as an idle hoof pawed at the ground. But thankfully he wasn't alone; many other Angeni had been cast out which also included his two brothers, Duzi and Raiju. The moment would have been much sweeter, and perhaps he would be a bit more relaxed, if he had actually found his brothers. Kidono hadn't a clue as to where they were or what had happened to them!
There was a part of him that cringed inside. He had seen other before him not only become stripped of their glory and their wings- he had seen other become transformed into mutants! Others had been given devil tails, spikes, horns and a wicked appearance for their transgression and treason against the gods and the realization of such a thing worried Kidono very much. Duzi was the one who had stuck up for him and tried to reason with the gods of his own innocence but a glimpse of watching his brother plead for his own sake before Kidono was thrust out from Heaven made a sickening sensation churn within the pits of his stomach. And Raiju? What of him? As one of the 'council' members his brothers reputation and credibility was more than likely tarnished!
The young stallion feared that he was to blame if his brothers were harmed or transformed by the gods and somehow he could only hop that their fate wasn't so.
Oh- it would be so reassuring to find them and know they were okay!
Kidono shook the thoughts away and managed to smile a bit wider, a natural attribute that always stretched across his maw. He managed to blush just a bit at her compliment. "Th-thank you. You're too sweet. I think you're...rather sweet too." He lowered his head in due respect and gave a small nod as he slowly leveled his eyes with Vieno's once again. "Yes- yes of course. It is most pleasent to meet others, I mean- I have met very few but it is always a pleasure."
Again a seize of pink seemed to flush against his blue cheeks and he chuckled. "I...think its nice too. Very nice."
Ah! So her name was Vieno? The stallion's ears perked upwards as he smiled a bit more broadly. "Please, I do hope that I wasn't the one blabbering on and on- my brothers tell me that I have a bad habit sometimes," he commented, laughing lightly. "Well, Vieno it is quite a pleasure to meet you! And I do hate to leave you out in the cold- perhaps we cand find somwhere a bit warmer to mingle? I'd hate to be the reason for you to freeze! Here- allow me..."
His compassion seemed to take his heart by the strings as, slowly, he outstretched his wing across the top of her body and curled it around her in a tender manner. Kidono felt awful that she was freezing and he had been making her stand out in the brisk weather and he felt that it was the least he could do. Be it known that he wasn't trying to get an upper hoof- rather he felt inclined to make sure that poor Vieno didn't get any worse!
"If you'd like we could find someplace else to wander? The cold will do you no good, I'm afraid."

His story of the heavens and flying Soquili was a strange one, but she believed every word. Then again, Vieno believed everyone no matter if they were lying to her face and it was obvious or not. The story got her thinking, why had this seemingly thoughtful horse gotten himself kicked out of an area as wonderful as heaven? ...and if he could fly, why was he wandering around down here with her? Vieno thought it'd be wonderful to do something like fly and if she could have she never would have touched the ground! Well, everybody had their own preferences so maybe this stallion liked to stay on the ground.
Something about he way he spoke made Vieno think whatever had happened up there had really hurt him. If there was one thing she didn't like it was seeing others in pain so she decided not to poke at the subject. She too had a past she didn't like to speak about so she knew how it was. Instead of commenting on the subject, the mare smiled sweetly and nodded her head as if she understood. Of course she couldn't know exactly what the stallion had gone through but sometimes even a little sympathy went a long way. "I'm really sorry," she managed to say before nodding her head and looking down at the earth beneath her feet, "It must have been terrible."
Seeing the male flush made Vieno smile more. After tilting her head, eyes sparkling, she nodded and looked away, "Yes, it's always nice to make friends... and sometimes it's harder than it looks!" Often Vieno was told she was too nice for her own good, had no back bone and needed to smarten up. The mare didn't think there was anything wrong with being nice, but it often hurt when she was told that. The thought made the mare ponder and soon afterwards, she quietly questioned, "Do you think being too nice can be... a bad trait?" Of course the mare hoped he'd tell her no, but she really did want to know her new friend's opinion.
"Oh no! I don't think you blabber on at all, I love to listen to what you're saying!" the mare flushed, for sometimes she could be more of a listener than a speaker, "...and no, the pleasure's all mine!" Soon afterwards, she watched, her heart aching from the compassion, as the stallion covered her with his large wing. At that moment she remembered how terribly cold she was and her heart went out to the male who just wanted to help her. The warmth was a nice touch, and definitely appreciated, but the most the poor mare could muster was a silent, whispered thank you.
Nodding her head slowly, she agreed to go with him to find someplace warmer but before doing so she hung her head, "I'm such a nuisance... it's my own fault I'm cold and here you are... going out of your way to help me. It's so... sweet..."
