If someone asked where God came from, people usually reply "he was always here". In other words, He just is, in infinite time, before the universe was made. I'm not asking about the illogicality of that.
However, the universe has a specific birth date, seeing as it was created by God. Whether that's 600 years ago or 10 billion years ago isn't what I'm asking either.
If God existed forever BEFORE he created the universe, what did he do for that time?

You're asking a question which surely has no answer! God is so far beyond our limited 3 dimensional understanding - it's like an ameba trying to understand advanced calculus! We'll never know, or even be able to speculate intelligently. And sometimes we just have to be content knowing our limitations. Thank goodness intelligence isn't what God requires of us - faith is!

Moosiklady, blind faith in the face of evidence to the contrary, or faith that goes against logic, is useless and counterproductive.

You are correct in what you say about God existing before the creation of the universe. God is above all time; He is eternal and perfect. Therefore, it is my belief that He was simply existing (there was, is and always will be a dynamic relationship between Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Now, remember that God is above time. Therefore, it is also my belief that perhaps the time before He created all, it may have seemed like just a second to Him. And think about this: He existed before time; exists now; and will exist (in the future) simultaneously! How can a human fathom this? I'd like to know what evidence you speak of, Mein Kulturkampf.
My two cents. xp xp

Time was created with the universe. In singularities, there is no such thing as time. The universe was a singularity pre-Big-Bang.

I have heard it is like self-folding coils, but this seems like a lie. We have those in three dimensions. What I'm looking for is a new direction of movement, not a fancy coil.

What I'm looking for is a new direction of movement, not a fancy coil. we have x, y, z (convert to polar if you wish) then comes time now the 5th is odd perspective it's like an infinitesimally small box (thus becoming a point) contained within an infinitesimally large box so the 5th dimension is the perspective of the dot to the box like if our individual world view is separate from yet contained within all that is and we look out into our world and interpret the world around us so another dimension could be all that is vs. all that is not or what is contained within the box vs. what is not contained in the box sorta like how we define what is by what is not *brain cramp*

Oh, what fun! I'm not sure, but I thought that the 5th dimension had something to do with outer space (and possibly black holes). Also, I'd like to see those self-folding coils in 3 dimensions. surprised

Hey lordstar. I have a loose idea of what your getting at.
I understand the brain cramps. It's one of those "I can understand it but good luck explaining it" sort of things. I do the same with Time Travel. XD
I'll be glad to prove it if you'd like!! Ask me anything! Any scenario! I think it's fun!! *confuses another victim*

XD I've had a few moments like this one trying to explain some things takes so much energy totally draining like trying to explain how to plot someone’s sexuality on some function f(x) I get flamed hard for that one

Yes - I do know there are more dimensions - but when I referred to our "3 dimensional understanding" I was speaking of what we know and experience.
We move through and sense time, but have no control of our movement through it - unlike the other 3 dimensions; we don't really "understand" time the way we understand up/down, to/fro, sideways. The other dimensions believed to exist we can't even verify or sense at all.
Since science itself is now pointing towards multiple dimensions beyond our own awareness - science now supports the idea of an unknown reality! Isn't that part of what religions have been about for a long time - believing in the unseen?
And it's not blind faith! I've witnessed and experienced miracles - big and small. I know what I believe and WHY.
