This here is Amadeus. He's one of my main characters in the manga I'm working on making titled 'Fallen From Grace' and I've been really into the anime series Spiral for a while so I tried to do one of the poses from the ending theme. Here's the picture of the pose I used: And here's what I've got so far: Old versionHere's the updated version. I'm planing on adding another another character (Ignasious) to be the other person later once I make copy of the finished version of Amadeous, but for now I need some help. something seems off in my pic. Can anyone help me figure out what it is and how to fix it? (redlines are always loved)

maybe try tilting the head up more and curving the body just alittle thats the only thing that seems off and maybe that hand that is curved to teh left should be laying against his body not clamped around his side other then that good job n.n

The body looks too squared and he is not wearing the jacket. Draw some more details and ink it with a waterproof pen. 3nodding

Well I'll add more details to the wing in a bit. I'm still trying to figure out a way to get it look as though it's broken.

First of all, I don't quite see the point in asking for a critique when you already know how it's supposed to look from the picture. Anyway, I don't recommend to draw ANYTHING from an ANIME picture. Believe me, I'm one to respect anime and all, but anime pictures do NOT make good reference pictures. I HIGHLY suggest that you look at a real photo, or take a photo of yourself in that pose, and draw from that. Real photos are the best references.
And Tasha, I understand you're trying to help, but I highly discourage you telling other people to use your pictures as references. Since it's a picture you drew (rather than a photograph), it can be misleading since it's a drawing in your style and skill level, so please don't do it again.

ROCK ME AMADEOUS. Hmm, well try not to use such a complicated pose for reference! since there's two people in that shot and you're only trying to draw one,it'll really screw your mind over. I tried that once. and it killed me. all day, I was like: "but...where do I put the other arm? which way is the body going?I can't SEE!"
So yeah.

well I'm planning on putting them both in there once I've finished Amadeous. I'm just doing one at a time because I'm planing on making a vid when I'm done with all of my characters in it. (not just Amadaus and ignasious.)

i like it, for using a pic like that, which is very complicated, you did an awsome job. you say he doesn't have a jacket, but it might make him look better (no offence sweatdrop )

And well about the jacket, I didn't mean that he doesn't wear a jacket, (I really have no set wordrobe for him yet ^^') I just ment when I was replying to Riria Li that he wasn't actually the guy in the ref. pic. becasue she had said: 'he's not wearing the jacket.'

Yeah, broken wings are very difficult to do... I would just ruffle the feathers out of place with a bandage wrapped round it or something, that would give the right idea, but whether it fits with what you want... And someone said the body was too square. The solution is in the construction; putting the shoulders at a different angle to the hips really improves static work. Deatils such as clothes folds can distract people from something that didn't go well. I do it all the time since I got the hang of folds. Only ink if it works for you. I prefer to leave my sketches pencil, while other people like to ink.
